SNOW MUCH FUN SNOWGLOBE | with Karen

Happy New Year Doodlebug fans! One of my favourite Doodlebug products is the DIY Snow globe kit, and since we are featuring the Snow Much Fun collection right now, I couldn't help but put the two together. I mean, they are pretty much a match made in heaven!

    

 If you are like me and you love to decorate for the winter season, this little decor item is a must have. I started by embellishing the background with some the Snow Day 12x12 patterned paper. I wanted a bolder colour that the white Ice Crystal Shakers would really pop on and this bold purple polka dot does the trick! I then used some of the mountain die cuts from the Odds & Ends pack to create a little scene, offsetting them a bit a layering to get a bit of dimension going on.

   

I then picked one of my favourite Doodle-pops (yes, I actually used one) to feature. The little Yeti is called Hello Winter and I just love how the added dimension on the Doodle-pop really works inside the DIY Snow globe. Some of the Shakers actually catch on the edges a bit and you get this amazing appearance of depth!

   

 Because the yeti Doodle-pop worked so well, I decided to add another couple from the Sweet Snowbird set - one inside and one outside. A little tree die cut from the Odds & Ends pack and a little banner embellishment from the Chit Chat collection helped finish everything off and anchor the design elements on the outside as well as the inside.

   

I absolutely love how this turned out! I might even make a few more scenes from this collection so I can change them out (winter is a number of months up here after all - not that I need an excuse)! Thanks for stopping by! Hugs,

TINSEL TIME SHAKER GIFT TAGS | with Kathy

We are officially down to the wire!  It's time to get all of those Christmas gifts wrapped and put under the tree!  I decided to add some fun Tinsel Time Shaker Tags to some of my gifts this year... take a peek...

I started with some Tag Dies from my stash.  I cut them from some Tinsel Time Coordinating Textured Cardstock.  I lined the bottom tag piece (without the window)  with some fun papers from the 6x6 pad.  I love the smaller prints, they work perfectly for projects like this.  I covered the open window of the tags with some Heavyweight Acetate.  I added some double sided 1/8"foam tape to outline the window, filled it with some fun shakers then attached the top tag to the bottom!  All that was left was to decorate which was easy with all the fun Puffy Stickers, Shaped Sprinkles, mini Jewels, Icon Stickers, Odds & Ends and Bits & Pieces!  Here are some close-ups...

On the "B" side of the Happy Holly Days 6x6 paper are word strips that are great for cards & tags.  I used them for sentiments on my tags.  I also added some fun Glitter Sprinkles from the Christmas Assortment to some of the ornaments.

In addition to Doodlebug Shaker balls, I also used the Happy Holidays and Jolly Holly Shakers.  I also added some shaped sprinkles from the Christmas Candy Shaped Sprinkles.

To top my tags I stapled some grosgrain ribbon using my tiny attacher stapler.  They are all set to be added to my gifts!

HOMETOWN USA FRAMELESS SHAKER ALBUM | with Jen

I absolutely adore the Doodlebug Shadowbox Insert Kits. I have a bunch framed and hanging in my craft room. Every time a new one comes out I think "I want to put that on a mini album cover" or "I want to use that in a shaker." That time has come!

Today I have a super packed mini album for you! A couple of years ago I designed a frameless shaker method and I used it to enclose the Hometown USA Shadowbox Insert. I filled my large shaker with silver Shaker Balls and the Land That I Love Shaker mix. The album overall is 9" x 9" with a 2" spine. There are four pages with interactive elements.

I used the Festive Fireworks Heavy Acetate throughout the book for pockets and a belly band. It's just the most fun patterned acetate yet!

Each page has a large 7" x 9" insert. I used the acetate fireworks from the Bits and Pieces as pulls on the top of each. There are lots of layout pages and pockets for all sorts of pictures and things.

In the center I did some scene building using all the cute elements from the Odds and Ends and Mini Icons. Lots of the Mini Icons are perfectly sized to accent the larger Odds and Ends pieces.

I used both of the new Doodle Cuts sets to accent the book. I used the Pocket Full o' Pride Doodle Cut set to add little pockets to some inserts. I used the Festive Floral Doodle Cut set to add a little shaker to the first page in the album.

HOMETOWN USA PREVIEW WEEK - DAY 2 | with Tonya

We are back with another sneak peek of our new Hometown USA collection!  Today's project features the new Festive Floral Doodle Cuts.  Tonya created a couple of darling cards using the new dies, take a peek...

The first card uses papers and coordinating cardstock from the Hometown USA Collection.  The Dies are designed so that you can also make a shaker. and Tonya added some of the new Land that I Love and Lily White Shakers to her jar. The Land that I Love Shakers are so fun, they are a mix of stars, flags and hearts!

To show the versatility of the dies, Tonya also created this bright and cheery card featuring papers, textured cardstock and Spring Flowers Shakers from the Bunny Hop Collection.  There are so many ways to use these Doodle Cuts!

HAPPY HEALING GIFT CARD HOLDER | with Kathy

In our town we have a few groups that help out families in the area when someone is sick or recovering from an injury.  They help with meals, sometimes with gift cards to favorite restaurants, local cleaning service, grocery delivery and the like.  I thought it would be fun to put together a little get well gift card holder for all the items gathered.  This would also be a great get well gift to a friend after surgery or illness.  Happy Healing is the perfect collection to use for this, take a peek...

The front of my gift card holder is a shaker, made to look like the little pill bottle in the collection.  I filled it with the Pill Better, Limeade, Ladybug, Bumblebee and Swimming Pool Shakers.  I added some pills from the Odds & Ends as well as a sentiment from the Chit Chat pieces.

Inside, it holds 6 little gift card sized envelopes.  The envelopes are from a cut file, but you could create your own, they measure 3.625" x 2.5".  

For the holder wrap, I cut a strip of cardstock 2.75"x12".  I scored it at 1.25", 3.25", 7.25" and 9.25".  I folded all the scores in the same direction to form the outside of the holder.  I added patterned papers to the inside and outside sections, for color and a little extra strength. My Shaker is glued to the front, bottom section (larger of the two).  The top folds in behind the shaker and I added a little piece of Velcro to keep it closed.

The gift cards envelopes are attached using a hidden binding.  To create it I started with a 2.5" x 4.75" piece of cardstock.  I scored it every .25".  The diagram below shows how I put it together.  I folded the areas under the blue sections into a peak,  and glue them together so they stick up.  The end result is you would have 6 sections that stick up with two "flaps" on the outside edges.  I glued this to the bottom section of my wrap, and then glued each envelope to one of the sections that stick up.

Now for the fun part, decorating!  I used a little bit of everything to decorate the individual gift card holders including Bits & Pieces, Odds & Ends, Chit Chat pieces, Puffy Icons, Icon stickers, shaped sprinkles and the dies Happy Healing Doodle Cuts (the ones that coordinate with the Stamp Set) for the Get Well Sentiment.

My first envelope holds a tag from the Bits & Pieces with a little sentiment.  I tied it with some Limeade Doodle Twine.

The rest of the envelopes are ready for gift cards!  

I completed the inside of my wrap using the cutest sticker of the bunch... the little get well bear!  I love how this turned out, and I think it would also be a fun idea for a birthday or Christmas gift!  That's it for me today, thank you for stopping by to peek!

HAPPY HEALING POP UP CARDS | with Kathy

It's no fun when you have a friend or family member who is under the weather.  I always try to do a little something to brighten their day.  The Happy Healing collection is perfect for this!  It's full of adorable icons and bright colors, certain to make anyone feel better!  I decided to create a couple of pop up cards to showcase the cute images.  Take a peek...

For both cards I started with a set of platform pop up dies and some of the 12 x 12 papers from my stash to create the bases.  My first card features the adorable Pill Better Doodle Cuts.  I created a the little pill bottle, using the open shaker piece and some heavyweight acetate for both sides so it looks like a clear bottle. I used some thin foam strips to create a shaker, and filled it with both the Pill Better Shakers and regular shakers.  around the bottle I added cute little tablets from the Puffy Icons and Odds & Ends.  I love how they look like they're floating on the acetate!

Here's a close up of the bottle shaker.  The sentiment was created using the speech bubble die from the Pill Better Doodle Cuts set and the sentiment stamp from the Pill Better Doodle Stamps.

My next card also has a "floating" effect using some more heavy weight acetate.  For this card I combined the Get Well Sentiment from the All Occasion Doodle Cuts with some die cut letters using the Alex Alphabet Doodle Cuts to spell out Get Well Soon.  I added lots of elements from the Odds & Ends to decorate around it.  I just love those cute little germs!
