SNOW MUCH FUN POP UP CARDS | with Karen

Hey Doodlebug fans! Sometimes winter can seem really dark and long, especially up here where I live when the sun doesn't come up until after 8:00am and is down by 5:00. But there is also a brightness that comes this time of year when the lights reflect off of the snow and clouds and you can actually see for miles in the darkness. That's what I love about the Snow Much Fun collection from Doodlebug - it celebrates all the fun and lightness in what can be a dark time. So today, I wanted to share a couple of thank-you cards using this collection that also celebrate those in our lives that help bring the light!

These cards don't look like much on the front (although I would argue are still pretty in their simplicity), but open them up...

...and all the fun jumps out at you! This is a style of card called a stadium wave pop up and I recently came across the style. I thought they were a perfect way to showcase all the great parts of this collection!

For this one, I use the 12x12 Ice Crystals paper as the base. This is one of my favourite patterned papers of all time from any company - the colours are unexpected and absolutely beautiful!

And then I embellished the pop out pieces with a variety of die cuts from the Bits & Pieces and Odds & Ends packs. This part was the most fun because I got to play with different shapes, sizes and placements to get the effect I was looking for.

I also his a little spot to pull out a message underneath the sentiment that I created. I just wanted a nice space to write a meaningful note while still leaving lots of room for the card elements.

Finally, I decorated the front with the adorable polka dot paper called Snow Day and then created a little band to hold the card closed (it get's a bit bulky with the party inside)! I plan to use the space on the round die cut for the recipient's name. So, if you need a little light in your life right now, grab your Doodlebug and get crafting. You won't regret it! Thanks for stopping by! Hugs,

HEY PUMPKIN POP UP CARDS | with Kathy

I think that Hey Pumpkin is one of my favorite Doodlebug Halloween collections.  Probably because it's full of adorable black cats!!  This time around I decided to make some fun pop up cards featuring some of those kitties, take a peek...

For the base of my cards I used pop up platform dies from my stash and some Beetle Black Cardstock.  I added some papers from the 6x6 pad for color around the bases.  My first card features the sweet little pink car driven by a little ghost from the Odds & Ends pack.  Behind the car is a fun tree from the Odds & Ends and a bat from the Halloween Night shaped sprinkles.

For my last layer I cut a 3x4 piece of our heavyweight clear acetate, and adhered another ghost and moon from the Odds & Ends and some stars and a bat from the shaped sprinkles. I love how it looks like they're floating behind the tree. I finished it with a sentiment banner from the Chit Chat pack.

For my next card I used the pumpkin, ghost and kitty from the Bits & Pieces pack.  I wanted it to look like they were in the middle of a pumpkin patch so I added a few more pumpkins from the Odds & Ends along with some flowers and leaves.

For this card I also added a piece of heavyweight acetate in back.  To this I added a ghost and some more shaped sprinkles bats so they were flying behind the kitty.  The speech bubble is from the Chit Chat pieces.

Now if I can remember to mail the cards, I'll be all set!  Have you made any projects using the Hey Pumpkin collection?  If you do, be sure to tag @doodlebugdesign on socials!  We love to see what you create.  That's it for me today, thank you for stopping by to peek!

HAPPY HEALING POP UP CARDS | with Kathy

It's no fun when you have a friend or family member who is under the weather.  I always try to do a little something to brighten their day.  The Happy Healing collection is perfect for this!  It's full of adorable icons and bright colors, certain to make anyone feel better!  I decided to create a couple of pop up cards to showcase the cute images.  Take a peek...

For both cards I started with a set of platform pop up dies and some of the 12 x 12 papers from my stash to create the bases.  My first card features the adorable Pill Better Doodle Cuts.  I created a the little pill bottle, using the open shaker piece and some heavyweight acetate for both sides so it looks like a clear bottle. I used some thin foam strips to create a shaker, and filled it with both the Pill Better Shakers and regular shakers.  around the bottle I added cute little tablets from the Puffy Icons and Odds & Ends.  I love how they look like they're floating on the acetate!

Here's a close up of the bottle shaker.  The sentiment was created using the speech bubble die from the Pill Better Doodle Cuts set and the sentiment stamp from the Pill Better Doodle Stamps.

My next card also has a "floating" effect using some more heavy weight acetate.  For this card I combined the Get Well Sentiment from the All Occasion Doodle Cuts with some die cut letters using the Alex Alphabet Doodle Cuts to spell out Get Well Soon.  I added lots of elements from the Odds & Ends to decorate around it.  I just love those cute little germs!

And a close up...

I'm all ready if someone becomes under the weather!  Make sure to stop by all this week for more Happy Healing inspiration!  That's it for me today, thanks for stopping by to peek

OVER THE RAINBOW POP UP CARDS | with Kathy

Spring is definitely here in New England!  The warmer weather has arrived and the flowers are starting to pop up!  It's the perfect time for some fun spring cards!  I put these fun pop up cards together using the Over the Rainbow Collection, take a peek...

I love all the different sized embellishments and stickers available in Doodlebug collections.  The Odds & Ends, Icon and mini Icon stickers give you a great variety of sizes and images to use to make fun scenes, and they all go together so quickly!

For my first card I used lots stickers from the mini icons to create a spring scene.  The size of these stickers were perfect for my pop up base!  I also added a piece of acetate so that the gnome in the balloon and butterfly look like they are floating!  To finish, I added some sprinkles to the flower centers for some dimension and sparkle! For my sentiment, I used the Hello Sign from the mini icons.

My second card includes the rainbow from the Odds & Ends, the adorable squirrel from the Icons Stickers and other stickers from the mini icons sheets.  Of course I had to add a mini heart sprinkle for some shine! My sentiment is stamped and came from the Gnome Sweet Gnome Doodle Stamps.

I just love that cute little squirrel and ladybug!  They make me smile!  Hopefully the recipients of these cards will feel the same way!

LOTS OF LOVE POP UP CARDS | with Kathy

I have always loved creating fun papercrafts for Valentine's Day!  The Lots of Love collection makes it even more fun!  The colors, the critters... all of it... absolutely adorable.  I decided to make a couple of cute interactive pop up cards to send to friends... take a peek...

For each of these cards I used the Blue XOXO side of the Lots of Love double sided cardstock as my background.  I love the subtle pattern, and it looks like the sky!  For my first card I created a fun scene with some Icon Stickers... the cute little mailbox and that mail snail... eek!  When you open the card the adorable little birdie pops up!  The sentiment is from the Chit Chat pieces.

My second card uses my favorite Icon Sticker in the collection, the little bear holding heart balloons.  When you open the card, he floats up from the clouds.  I decorated the background with some clouds from the Odds & Ends and heart sprinkles.  The sentiment was put together using some chit chat pieces.  I love how the "you" is hidden until you open the card!

Since it's much more fun to watch interactive cards in action, I've added a quick video to my YouTube Channel which shows how they work.

Be sure to stop by the blog  this week for more Lots of Love inspiration!  Also if you have created any projects using Doodlebug Lots of Love, be sure to tag us on social media!  We love to see what you create!  That's it for me today, thanks for stopping by to peek!

DOWN ON THE FARM POP UP CARDS | with Kathy

Down on the Farm is one of my all-time favorite collections.  The little critters are absolutely adorable! The cows, pigs and sheep just make me smile!  I decided to make a few pop up cards using some of the stickers from the collection.  I love how there's always plenty of icons to make up little scenes!  Take a peek...

I love the punny sentiments in this collection.  They make it easy to create cards that are more "all purpose", springy cards.  The first card I created was with the little cow.  He is udder-ly adorable. And really... "Cow's it Going?"... just perfect.

My next card features those fluffy sheep and the little chicken.   They're having a great day hanging in the meadow.

My last card features the chubby little piggies, hanging out in some mud puddles... They really are "Sow Sweet!"  My favorite part is the little worm popping up on the front of the card!

As I said, I love how all Doodlebug collections contain a variety of icons that allow you to build some fun little scenes!  Have you created any projects using the Down on the Farm Collection?  Make sure to tag Doodlebug Design on Facebook and Instagram, we love to see what you create!  That's it for me today, thanks for stopping by to peek!

NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS REINDEER KISSES | with Kathy

Have you ever wondered what Santa's reindeer do off season?  Being in quarantine I've had a lot of time to think about this question. (Maybe a little too much time? lol)  My answer came in the form of a fun little 3D card.  Take a peek...

My guess is that he's getting ready for Valentine's day by manning the North Pole's kissing booth!  I always love finding ways to use seasonal collections like the Night Before Christmas off season projects.  It's a great way to challenge yourself.  To make the card I altered this file from Lori Whitlock.  I added the kissing booth, and lots of goodies from the Night before Christmas Odds & Ends, including a little heart banner.

I love how you can use this type of card for seasonal décor as well.  The card folds flat to fit in an envelope to send to my favorite valentine!

If you have found fun new ways to use your seasonal Doodlebug Collections, be sure to tag us on Facebook and Instagram!  We love to see your creations.  That's it for me today, thanks for stopping by to peek!
