SUMMER FUN 6x4 CARDS | with Niella

Hi crafty friends! Nice to see you all pop by! Today I have some simple yet sweetiful inspiration for you when you next need to create something special for on it's own or to go with a gift! Who doesn't appreciate a greeting card, especially a homemade one!  Stay tuned to see my video showcase of my three Summer Fun cards!

Each card is 6x4" in size and big on inspiration! I've used the Bits & Pieces alongside the Odds & Ends ephemera pack.  These mighty packs hold so many different pieces, one pack alone will give you endless possibilities!

Each of my card bases are 6x4" and I've begun by mounting a patterned paper on top of my card base then on top of that, added a piece of white textured cardstock.  This helps the card bases to become sturdier and sets a nice canvas to decorate on.  Once each card has been mounted with patterned paper chosen from the 6x8 paper pad and white cardstock, I gather what I'd like each card to have and simply start layering and adhering as I built upwards.

My favorite tip to have your ephemera pieces pop out from the base is to use pop dots and slightly curl the edges away from the base.  This gives a lifted look, yet it's secured.  Flat lay can be boring! I enjoy textures and illusions!  Lastly, I've added some doodle twine, so fun!

Thank you again for visiting crafty crew! I hope you found some inspiration today! Please remember to tag Doodlebug Design in your Socials when you create with our products so we can all admire your creativity! We love seeing your creations! Until next time; doodle dee!
Enjoy my video showcase!

SUMMER FUN CARDS | with Karen

I am not sure if you are like me, but I have certain Doodlebug products that I always reach for. So every now and again, I like to challenge myself to reach for something different and see where it takes me.

So today, while working with the adorable Summer fun collection, I decided to reach for the acetate sheet that coordinates with the collection - Catch a Wave. Acetate is not typically a product that makes its way into my crafty creations, but for today's cards, I think I actually hit the jackpot with it!

I love this acetate sheet because it has a wave like pattern on it and I think it gives the illusion of water. So I decided to grab some adorable Doodle-pops and see if I could create some little water scenes on each card.

The card featuring Louie Lobster Doodle-pop was the easiest. I simply created some layers on top of the acetate sheet and then hid some foam adhesive behind those shapes to attach the acetate to the card. It ended up giving the illusion of a shallow pool that I was thought was really neat!

For the card featuring Sam & Sally Seahorse Doodle-pop, I decided to add one of the patterned papers called Water Babies behind the acetate sheet to create even more dimension. I then tucked one of the little fish from the Doodle-pop in between to make it look like it was under that water. This ended up being a neat effect too!

Finally, I decided to see if I could make it look like Donnie Dolphin Doodle-pop was jumping right out of the water. I used an blade to cut a slit into the acetate, following the shape of the wave pattern. I then tucked Donnie's tail underneath the acetate and adhered the rest of him on top. I used the little splash features from the Doodle-pop for some additional texture. This ended up being my favourite use of the acetate!

I really love how these turned out! If you want a shiny, water like appearance on a project, give this a try. I think it could work really nicely on a lot of different types of projects! Thanks for stopping by!

SUMMER FUN - SUMMER CHARM | with Miguel

I really enjoy working with Doodle Cuts because they can be used in so many different projects. Today, I drew inspiration from current trends specifically, charms or keychains made with colorful cords and combined them with the Summer Fun collection, Just Fishes and Adora-Bowl Doodle Cuts. Just look at the fantastic result!

I tied several knots in the cords and then attached the pieces cut from the "Summer Fun" solid assortment adding foam backing to give them dimension and extra sturdiness; finally, I attached them to the keychain and added mini jewels for sparkle and to simulate water bubbles. The result is incredible.

Here are the Doodle Cuts I used for the little sea creatures I attached to my keychain. Remember to die-cut them from cardstock and foam for greater durability.

I hope you love this idea as much as I do and give it a try. This pendant can serve as an album charm or an accessory for your summer bag! Thanks for stopping by and reading see you soon!

SUMMER FUN SPLISH SPLASH LAYOUT | with Tarrah

It's always fun to document warm-weather memories—the colors feel brighter, the smiles look bigger, and every page seems to radiate sunshine. Today I’m sharing a layout that captures all of that joy using the Summer Fun collection a line that practically sparkles with happy vibes.

I started by tracing a dinner plate and cutting it out from the Summer Fun patterned paper. I adhered this to the centre of a sheet of white cardstock. I then cut out triangles from the multiple papers in the 6' x 8' paper pad and adhered these around the outside of the circle to replicate the sun. I trimmed the white cardstock down and adhered it to the Beach Towel patterned paper.

One of my favorite things about Doodlebug collections is how easy it is to build a story with their embellishments. This layout features adorable icons like surfboards, a sweet little Doodle-pop seahorse, and playful word stickers that bring the theme to life.

I placed my photo over to the left hand side of the layout and then embellished on the right hand side.

The 'Splish Slash' title adds a whimsical touch and ties the water theme together perfectly. Around the sunburst, mixed in with the triangles, I added arrow tags with words like Paradise, Happy, Beautiful, and Let's Go—each one capturing the carefree spirit of summer adventures.

To finish the layout, I sprinkled in a few extra bits from the collection—mini icons, colorful stickers, and layered die cuts. The multicolored “Summer” title at the top adds a cheerful header, while the surrounding embellishments help balance the design and keep the eye moving around the page.

I love how the Summer Fun collection makes it effortless to create layouts that feel joyful and full of personality. Whether you’re documenting beach days, poolside fun, or sunny outdoor adventures, this collection has everything you need to bring those memories to life.
This layout was such a delight to create. The bold sunburst, the vibrant colors, and the playful embellishments all work together to celebrate the best parts of summer.

If you’re looking for a collection that’s bright, happy, and bursting with charm, Summer Fun is a must-have for your stash.  Happy crafting!

SUMMER FUN FLIP UP MINI ALBUM | with Kathy

I have a fabulous Summer Fun mini album for you today.  I love finding unique mini album designs... I found this book and tutorial by @helloscrapbook.pt and just had to make one of my very own!  Check it out...

To start, I created my cover... I started with 2 pieces of chipboard each 4.25" x 6.25" for the front and back, and a third piece measuring 1.25" x 6.25" for my spine.  I laid the chipboard out on a piece of the water babies paper (waves) and wrapped/adhered them to make my cover.  To cover the inside I cut a piece of Lily White cardstock.

My title was done using the Puffy Word Stickers and I also added the ampersand from the lily white alphabet soup stickers.   I next created a fun "porthole" shaker.  The shaker walls are made from stacking and gluing rings of chipboard (8),  then adding a circle of heavyweight acetate and a ring of gray candy strip/sprinkles petite prints.  I used the silver sprinkles for my "rivets."  Inside my porthole I die cut the greenery and sand using the adora-bowl doodle cuts.  I added some puffy icon stickers and some swimming pool and bitty bubbles shakers.

Inside the album, I used a chit chat and one of the cut-aparts from the summer school paper on the left and added the fun flip up pages from @helloscrapbook.pt's tutorial on the right.

Each "page" flips up to reveal 4 separate sections. I decorated each section with a variety of papers, chit chats, Puffy Stickers, Icon stickers and shaped sprinkles.  Here are some close ups of the individual sections.

The second flip up....

and my third flip up.  All together there are 12 different mini pages to add photos, journaling and of course cute Summer fun Icons!

And of course, it's much more fun to see the album in action, so I created a quick flip through to help you better see the pages.

That's it for me today, thank you for stopping by to peek!

SUMMER FUN - SUMMER TIME MINI ALBUM | with Conny

Hello, crafty friends!  Conny here from The Daily Life of Creativity with another mini album tutorial. Today we’re creating a 5” × 7” chipboard mini album using the adorable Summer Fun collection from Doodlebug Design.

Let’s get started!  I began by cutting my chipboard:   Two covers measuring 7” × 5” and One spine measuring 7” × 1¼”.

To cover the front and back chipboard pieces, I cut two pieces of patterned paper to 8½” × 6½”. I used Blue Jean Buffalo Check Woodgrain Petite Prints and  Gulf Friends from Summer Fun

.

I centered each chipboard piece on the paper, mitered the corners using a cover guide tool, then wrapped the paper around the edges using double-sided adhesive and liquid glue.

For the spine, I used Bumblebee Buffalo Check Woodgrain Petite Prints. I trimmed the paper to 8½” × 4”. I centered the 7” × 1¼” spine on the paper and wrapped the top and bottom around the chipboard.  I then adhered the side flaps to the front and back covers to each side.

Next, I covered the inside of the album.  I used papers from the Summer Fun 6” × 8” Paper Pad. For the center spine area, I cut a colorful stripe paper to 6⅞” × 6” and adhered it with double-sided tape and liquid glue.

For the inside covers, I used the colorful polka dot paper with a white background. I cut one piece to 6⅞” × 6”, then trimmed it in half to create two 6⅞” × 3” panels. I adhered one to the inside front cover and the other to the inside back cover

Next, I built the two waterfalls. Each waterfall has six pages. I cut six pieces of white cardstock measuring 4½” × 3½” for each waterfall. I scored on the 4½-inch side at ½ inch. Next I applied adhesive to the scored flap and stacked the pages one underneath another, beginning at the top of the patterned paper.

For the waterfall closure, I cut a piece measuring approximately 4” × 1½” and scored it at ½ inch on the 4-inch side. I also used a scallop punch to decorate the bottom corners of the waterfall pages as well as the closure for a fun decorative touch.

Next I created the interactive pages! Using the Summer Fun Solid Assortment Textured Cardstock, I used both the dark blue and white cardstock.  I cut one piece to 6⅞” × 12” and scored at: ½”, 5¼” and 7⅞”.

I cut the second piece to 6⅞” × 9⅞” and scored at: ½” and 5¼”.

I added a scallop border to both pages—one along the pocket edge and one at the end of the larger page. It adds such a cute finishing detail, so don’t be afraid to pull out your punches and have fun with them.

For the pocket, I cut a piece measuring 5½” × 3½” and scored it ½ inch on the 3½-inch side

½ inch on both the left and right sides of the 5½-inch side.

I used a 1-inch circle punch to create a thumb notch before assembling the pocket. Inside the pocket, I tucked in one of the journaling cards from the collection. I also used one of the cards from the Cards & Envelopes pack as a tri-fold insert, giving the album even more room for photos.

The smaller photo mats throughout the album hold 3” × 3” photos, while the pocket is large enough to hold 4” × 6” photos or journaling cards. I also used one of the 6” × 8” paper pad cards, scored it in the center, and tucked it into the pocket to create a fold-out journaling insert.

On the first page, I created a simple flip-up element using another scallop edge, then decorated the album with clusters made from the Bits & Pieces, Odds & Ends, Chit Chat, Puffy Icons, and Puffy Words.

To finish the cover, I added the adorable  Flora Flamingo Doodle Pop, which makes the perfect focal point.

I hope this project inspires you to create your own Summer Fun mini album! Be sure to check out the full process video over on my YouTube channel.

Thank you so much for watching, and happy crafting!

Xo, Conny -Bye!
