BEE HAPPY TWIST POP CARDS | with Karen

Oh, the sweetness! It's time for another Bee Happy project post from me and I could not "bee" more excited to share with you today! It's birthday time in my house and it seemed like the perfect occasion to use some of the cutest Doodlebug papers and products ever.

I decided to create a couple of pop up twist cards. If you have never made one of these types of cards before, you are in for a treat. While from the front it looks like a regular card, when you open it up...

...it twists and pops right out at you (I have this process and measurements memorized, but I am pretty sure that I first learned how to make them from this Splitcoaststampers tutorial - a quick search of "pop up twist cards" will provide you with many, many tutorials).

The best part about this card style is that there is so much room to play with products like the dies cuts from the All the Things pack. You can layer them to create cute little scenes on the front...

...and then have just as much fun on the four panels on the inside with messages and characters! Use some foam adhesive to give even more dimension to the little scenes. And don't forget to top off our creations with some mini jewels or layer on top of some mini doilies for even more texture!

Celebrating birthdays is always fun - but doing it in Doodlebug style takes it to the next level! Thanks for stopping by! Hugs,

BERRY SWEET BOX CARDS | with Kathy

As soon as I saw the adorable little mice in the Berry Sweet collection, I knew I wanted to make some cards featuring them.  And, of course I needed to make them 3D cards, because that is so much fun!  Take a peek...

How cute are those mousies???!!!  I just pictured them sitting among the strawberries and flowers holding onto their treasures!

For both cards, I started with some Outside the Box Card dies from my stash for the bases which I cut from some lily white cardstock.   For my first card, I covered my back panel with one of the bonus papers that is available in the 6x8 pad.  The grass was also cut from another bonus paper.  I then cut lots of flowers using the Berry Sweet Treats Doodle Cuts.  I added sprinkles to the flower centers for a little dimension.  The sentiment is from the All the things pack.  I love the scripty font!  As a finishing touch I added a few Berry Blossoms shaped sprinkles.

My next card features more of the dies from the Berry Sweet Treats Doodle Cuts.  My background paper is the 6x8 version of the Strawberry Fields paper.  I wanted my mouse to look like he was standing in the middle of the strawberry field, so I created strawberry plants using the doodle cuts and a lily of the valley die I had in my stash for the stems.  The flowers are from the Berry Blossoms shaped sprinkles. I finished my card with a sentiment strip from the All the Things pack.

This collection just makes me so happy!  Have you created any projects using Berry Sweet?  Be sure to tag Doodlebug Design on socials, we love to see what you create.  That's it for me today, thank you for stopping by to peek!

BERRY SWEET BIRTHDAY BOX CARD | with Kathy

Have you seen the new Berry Sweet Treats Doodle Cuts?  I fell in love with them as soon as I saw them!  I knew exactly what I wanted to make as soon as I got my hands on them!  Take a peek....

I think that 3D cards are so fun to receive and they look so cute on display.  My box card was created using the dies in the set, along with the 6x8 Pad, some coordinating cardstock and petite prints.  I added a sentiment from the "All the Things" pack as a finishing touch.

I created some dimension by adding strawberries on both the front piece and the insert.  How cute is that mouse??!!

I just love how he peeks out over the pile of berries!  This card was really easy to make, and it fits into a standard A2 envelope.  If you'd like to make your own, I created a quick tutorial video.

If you make one, please be sure to tag me (@kathy_skou) and @doodlebugdesign!  We love to see your creations.  That's it for me today, thank you for stopping by to peek.

BUTTERFLY KISSES MOTHER'S DAY CARDS | with Kathy

Mother's Day is right around the corner, and Butterfly Kisses is the perfect collection to create some fun cards!  I used the collection to create some pop up cards, take a peek...

I love all the fun florals and of course those butterflies!  For my first card I combined some Odds & Ends and Bits & Pieces to create a fun little garden scene.  The birdie is from the Mini Icons.  I love how all of Doodlebug's collections have a variety of image sizes, it helps when making little scenes!

I made my own sentiment strips to match the collection by printing Happy Mother's Day in Extraordinary font, and cutting the strip to be 1/2" x 3 1/2".  I then cut some notches in the end to make it look like a Chit Chat piece.  I also made the butterfly "float" by adding a piece of clear heavyweight acetate and attaching the butterfly to it.  For a final touch I added some flower garden sprinkles to the front of the card.

For my next card, I wanted it to look like the butterflies were flitting in a flower garden.  I used  Odds & Ends flowers and butterflies to create my scene.  Again I used some clear heavyweight acetate to make it look like my butterflies are actually flying.

I finished my card with another sentiment strip and the cute little lady bug from the Bitty Bugs Shaped Sprinkles as well as some Flower garden and Butterfly Kisses Sprinkles.

The bases of the cards were created with Platform Pop Up Dies from my stash.  They even fold flat and fit int an envelope!  That's it for me today, thank you for stopping by to peek.

HEY PUMPKIN KITTY BOX CARDS | with Kathy

My favorite icon in the Hey Pumpkin Collection is of course the adorable black cat!  He looks just like my boy Jax!  So, when I saw the adorable Hey Pumpkin SVG files, I decided to create a couple of box cards featuring that sweet kitty!  Take a peek...

I started with the Hey Pumpkin October Garden Kitty 2 SVG.  The little kitty popping up from behind the pumpkin made me smile!  I cut the pieces from the Hey Pumpkin Coordinating Textured Cardstock and added some Bits & Pieces and Puffy Icons for the florals.  I love that the coordinating cardstock packs have the perfect colors!

I added the hello speech bubble from the Chit Chat pieces using a piece of heavyweight acetate so it looks like it's floating.

My next card features the Hey Pumpkin Pumpkin Kitty SVG.  The little fella in the pumpkin candy pail was too cute to resist!

I added some candy pieces from the Odds & Ends Pack and candy corn from the Puffy Icons.  The sentiment speech bubble is from the Chit Chat pieces.

I created a tutorial a few years ago showing how I convert flat cut files to 3D cards.  You can find that here on the Doodlebug blog. It will give you a general idea on how to create your own box cards featuring Doodlebug's cut files!  That's it for me today, I hope you all have a fun and safe Halloween!

HOMETOWN USA POP UP CARDS | with Kathy

I love making 3D Cards.  They are so fun, and look great on display!!  As soon as I saw the Hometown USA collection and coordinating Festive Floral Doodle Cuts, I knew what I would make!  Take a peek...

For my first card, I started with the new Festive Florals Doodle Cuts.  I created a clear jar shaker using the dies, heavyweight acetate and the new Land that I Love Shakers.  The jar pieces and flowers were cut from the coordinating Textured Cardstock pack. I also added some sprinkles and America the Beautiful shaped sprinkles to the centers.  I used the Plaid to be American paper for my base and finished it off using a Chit Chat sentiment, a heart from the Land that I Love Shaped Sprinkles and that sweet little birdie from the Bluebirds Doodle Pops!

I love the acetate fireworks in the Bits & Pieces pack and decided to use them as the focus for my next card.

I started with some clouds that I die cut from some Lily White Cardstock.  I added the acetate fireworks around them, as well as some acetate and shaped sprinkle stars which I attached to some acetate strips to make them look like they're floating.  The base of my card was created using the Summer Celebration paper.

I finished the card with some Star Spangled Shaped Sprinkles and a sentiment from the Chit Chat Pack.

HAPPY HEALING POP UP CARDS | with Kathy

It's no fun when you have a friend or family member who is under the weather.  I always try to do a little something to brighten their day.  The Happy Healing collection is perfect for this!  It's full of adorable icons and bright colors, certain to make anyone feel better!  I decided to create a couple of pop up cards to showcase the cute images.  Take a peek...

For both cards I started with a set of platform pop up dies and some of the 12 x 12 papers from my stash to create the bases.  My first card features the adorable Pill Better Doodle Cuts.  I created a the little pill bottle, using the open shaker piece and some heavyweight acetate for both sides so it looks like a clear bottle. I used some thin foam strips to create a shaker, and filled it with both the Pill Better Shakers and regular shakers.  around the bottle I added cute little tablets from the Puffy Icons and Odds & Ends.  I love how they look like they're floating on the acetate!

Here's a close up of the bottle shaker.  The sentiment was created using the speech bubble die from the Pill Better Doodle Cuts set and the sentiment stamp from the Pill Better Doodle Stamps.

My next card also has a "floating" effect using some more heavy weight acetate.  For this card I combined the Get Well Sentiment from the All Occasion Doodle Cuts with some die cut letters using the Alex Alphabet Doodle Cuts to spell out Get Well Soon.  I added lots of elements from the Odds & Ends to decorate around it.  I just love those cute little germs!

And a close up...

I'm all ready if someone becomes under the weather!  Make sure to stop by all this week for more Happy Healing inspiration!  That's it for me today, thanks for stopping by to peek

PRETTY KITTY SHADOW BOX CARDS | with Kathy

Kitties, and Doodlebug... two of my most favorite things!  The Pretty Kitty Collection has just filled my head with so many ideas, it was hard to choose one, but I finally decided to make some fun Shadow Box Cards.  Take a peek...

For the base of my card, I modified a Shadow Box Card from Lori Whitlock.  I then resized the file to be more in line with the size of the kitties from the Odds & Ends pack.

For my first card, I created a little fish bowl.  I added a piece of acetate behind the bowl so I could put the little fish from the Purr-fect Pals Shaped Sprinkles inside the bowl.  I love the little orange kitty crouching down, and thought he would be cute, peeking at the fish!

I finished the card with the hello sticker from the This & That Sticker Sheet.

For my next card, I was inspired by the Kitty in the window from the Odds & Ends.  My kitties will sit in the window watching birds all day!

I made a little flower box in the window using the Backyard Bunch Shaped Sprinkles, and the sentiment is also from the This & That Sticker Sheet.  I can almost hear the kitty "chirping" at the bird!

I can't wait to send these cards off to my favorite crazy cat people!  Have you created any projects using the Pretty Kitty Collection?  Be sure to tag Doodlebug on Facebook & Instagram.  We love to see your creations!  That's it for me today, thanks for stopping by to peek!

PRETTY KITTY COZY KITTIES BOX CARD TUTORIAL | with Kathy

I am so excited for the Pretty Kitty Collection!  I have always had kitties... and currently I'm cat mom to two fuzzbutts... Rosie & Jax.  I fell in love with the new Cozy Kitties Doodle Cuts and decided to make a 3D Box card using them well because kitties and I love making 3D cards!.  Take a peek...

How cute are those kitties!!!!  I used papers from the Pretty Kitty collection to make the chairs, along with some of the new Candy Stripe - Sprinkles Petite Prints for my kitties.  The sentiments were made with my Silhouette, I created a print and cut file for the word bubbles. I wanted customized sayings, but there are also lots of fun speech bubbles and sentiments in the Chit Chat pieces!  Here are some close ups....

Who can resist a punny sentiment... not me! The cute little mouse toy is from the Icon stickers sheet.  These cards also fold flat for mailing...

And for all those cat-moms out there... the purrfect Mother's Day Card!  These really were fun to make!  I've outlined the steps I used below....

I started by cutting three of the big chair pieces, eight of the chair leg pieces, the cushion piece, and the arms of the chair.  I also cut two strips... one measuring 7/8" x 7" and the second 7/8" x 3.25"

Next I created the chair legs.  For each let, I glued 2 of the legs together, right sides out.  I did this to give them a little more strength.

Glue two of the doubled chair legs to the wrong side of one of the chairs.  I aligned the top of the chair leg with the center of the chair bottom.  Then glue another of the chair pieces to this, right sides together.  This gives the card a stronger base and a more finished look.

Next, take the last chair piece and cut it as shown.  I measured approximately 1 1/4" from the bottom of the chair.  You can discard the topmost part of the chair.

Glue the remaining legs to the "wrong" side of the chair, aligning them as you did on the other side.  Let them dry.
Turn that piece over, and add the chair cushion, centered, and aligned with the top side.  I used pop dots for this to give it a bit more dimension.
Add the chair arms as shown.  Again, I used pop dots to add these.
Next, I worked on the "box" part of the card.  First, score the longer strip of paper at 2 1/4", 3 1/4", 5 1/2", and 6 1/2".  Fold along the score lines (all in the same direction and create a little box.  Glue in place using the tab.
Score the 3 1/4" piece at 1/2" and at 2 3/4"

Insert the smaller piece into the box you created, gluing the tabs of the insert to the inside walls of the box.
Glue the front of the chair you created to the longer side of the box, aligning the top of the box with the chair cushion.
Finally glue the back of the chair to the opposite side, making sure that everything is straight.

Now all that is left is to choose which kitties you want to piece together, and to glue them to the insert inside the box!

If you make any of these, please tag both Doodlebug Design and me (@kathy_skou) I would love to see your creations!!  That's it for me today, thanks for stopping by to peek!
