HOMETOWN USA MASCULINE CARDS | with Karen

One of the things that I love about Doodlebug collections is how versatile they really are. While the theme of a collection is always really clear and strong, there are also lots of ways to use bits and pieces for something a little different!

All-three-1

So for today's project, I decided to play around with that idea with the new Hometown USA collection. With Father's Day coming up here in Canada and the US, the masculine colours from this collection seemed like they could be a good fit! And I had so much fun creating those, I threw in a masculine themed birthday card for good measure!

One of my favourite parts of this new collection are the silver metallic accents. These little die cuts from the Odds and Ends pack are so cute on their own - but add a metallic accent on the legs of the BBQ, the utensils and even on the pop bottle and the card really has a little something special!

And can I just say that the cola theme in this collection is delightful! I think that this card, with the classic vending machine and cooler die cuts, is my favourite of the three. I feel like it is a classic image that could work on Father's Day or birthday cards!

All-three-2

While I think they still have a classic American feel to them, I also think they they really work in this context too! So grab your favourite collection and see what you can do to create a set of cards that is a little bit unexpected! They might become some of your favourite creations ever. Thanks for stopping by! Hugs,

HOMETOWN USA POP UP CARDS | with Kathy

I love making 3D Cards.  They are so fun, and look great on display!!  As soon as I saw the Hometown USA collection and coordinating Festive Floral Doodle Cuts, I knew what I would make!  Take a peek...

For my first card, I started with the new Festive Florals Doodle Cuts.  I created a clear jar shaker using the dies, heavyweight acetate and the new Land that I Love Shakers.  The jar pieces and flowers were cut from the coordinating Textured Cardstock pack. I also added some sprinkles and America the Beautiful shaped sprinkles to the centers.  I used the Plaid to be American paper for my base and finished it off using a Chit Chat sentiment, a heart from the Land that I Love Shaped Sprinkles and that sweet little birdie from the Bluebirds Doodle Pops!

I love the acetate fireworks in the Bits & Pieces pack and decided to use them as the focus for my next card.

I started with some clouds that I die cut from some Lily White Cardstock.  I added the acetate fireworks around them, as well as some acetate and shaped sprinkle stars which I attached to some acetate strips to make them look like they're floating.  The base of my card was created using the Summer Celebration paper.

I finished the card with some Star Spangled Shaped Sprinkles and a sentiment from the Chit Chat Pack.

Have you created any projects using the Hometown USA collection?  Make sure to tag Doodlebug Design on Socials so we can see your fun projects!  That's it for me today, thank you for stopping by to peek!

HOMETOWN USA CARDS | with Karen

Confession time - I am a Canadian. So I do not claim to know anything about the wonderful celebrations I hear about on the 4th of July (but I did spend one 4th of July in Vegas - that was amazing). From what I have seen - family and friends joining for BBQs seems like a big part of the fun! So when the new Hometown USA collection arrived from Doodlebug, I decided to create some cute cards that you could take along for your BBQ hosts!

  All-three-2

Now, I am not sure you could make it to three events in one day, but I wanted to play around with a few ideas. There are so many icons in the adorable Odds and Ends collection, I thought you could really personalize them to the host.

  Embellishments

For the pet lovers - the BBQ where you will leave with as much hair on you as food inside you, I created this little card. It's a mix of all the die cut packs - some Odds and Ends, Bits and Pieces and Chit Chat for all of the embellishments.

  Pin-card

My favourite one is actually this card for the host that is just a little bit "extra". Now I know the card is embellished pretty simply, so it may not be clear where the "extra" is.

  Inside-of-card

But inside, your host will discover that the cute popsicle embellishment is actually a Doodlebug collection enamel pin! Perfect for the BBQ apron!

  All-three-1

And if you are heading to a BBQ with a host that you might not know as well, you cannot go wrong with a traditional Statue of Liberty card! It's a classic that will fit the bill for just about anyone! So, my friends to the south, I hope I have done you proud with these card designs! Thanks for stopping by! Hugs,

LAND THAT I LOVE MASCULINE CARDS | with Karen

I have a bit of a confession to make. I find it 100 times easier to make feminine-themed cards than masculine themed cards. So, this last weekend, as I celebrated 4 different men in my life for different reasons, I decided it was time to sit down and see what I could come up with.

  Card-1

The Land that I Love collection was the perfect solution. While it has an American theme, it is versatile enough to create everything from birthday cards...

...to graduation cards...

All-4

...to Father's day cards! With the 12x12 papers used together with the Odd and Ends die cuts, these cards became a layering bonanza! I love that they are still class Doodlebug cute, but totally appropriate not only for the guys, but for my Canadian guys.

So, while I have this last weekend's celebrations totally taken care of, it's probably time to top off the masculine side of my card stash! Back to the crafty table!  Thanks for stopping by!
