OH WHAT FUN - CHRISTMAS CARDS | with Jen

Do you send out Christmas cards? Every year I mean to send them and then run out of time! So how do you get around that? Make them now!

I decided to use the Oh What Fun Cards and Envelopes Pack along with all the new Doodle Cuts  and Doodle Stamps to make a set of Christmas cards.

For the first card I kept it very simple. I used a piece of Lily White Candy Stripe Sprinkle Petite Prints for a mat and cut the scalloped end using the Borders and Edges Doodle Cuts dies. I then decorated using the Oh What Fun Puffy Words and Puffy Icons.

For my second card I used the Happy Holidays Doodle Cuts to make my fun Santa. I matted the card with Limeade Gingham Linen Petite Prints. I used the Puffy Words again for my sentiments.

For my third card I cut a rainbow of trees using the Merry Christmas Doodle Cuts. I cut only the trees that don't have a trunk since that area was going to be covered up. I used a blending brush and inks to ink a little coordinating halo behind the different trees. I blended along the bottom in red. I then added a white strip and topped that with a Ladybug Plaid Polka Dot strip. My sentiment is cut with the die set but I cut it several times out of white and layered them together before topping with the red sentiment.

For the next two cards I stamped and colored the images from the Oh What Fun Doodle Stamps set and cut them with the coordinating dies. There is a little tag die on that set that I used for the front of this card. I added two 1 1/4" wide strips of Limeade Gingham Linen Petite Print to look like ribbon on a package. I tied Ladybug Chunky Twine on my tag and adhered it with foam tape. The sentiment is from the Puffy Words.

The next card I matted with a 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" Candy Stripe Sprinkle Petite print. I used the Puffy Words again for my sentiment on a strip of white cardstock that I lightly inked with red ink. I put all my little colored gingerbread men at the top and my ornaments at the bottom. I added some Ladybug Doodle Twine to make an ornament garland or sorts.

For my last card I used the Deck the Halls Doodle Cuts to make a shaker. I filled the shaker with the new Christmas Confetti and Peppermints Shakers. I matted the front with Bumblebee Dot Stripe Petite Prints topped with a white panel that had been lightly inked in pink. I finished it off with the sentiment from the Puffy Words and some snowflakes from the Snow What Fun Shape Sprinkles.

I  have a process video for you, detailing my cards on my YouTube channel!

PUMPKIN SPICE SHAKER CARD TUTORIAL | with Tya

Hi there! I hope you are having a great day! I know I am because it is WORLD CARDMAKING DAY!!!

As an avid cardmaker - I adore this day! It is always so much fun to see all the talented cardmakers out there! Well - today I thought it would be fun to do a little tutorial for you on how to make a Shaker Card! These have become quite my obsession lately and I am always on the hunt for fun things to put inside my shaker cards! Let me know in the comments what your favorite thing to put inside shaker cards!

I'm giving you a little sneak peek of the adorable new "Pumpkin Spice" collection with my card today - oh boy you guys! This collection is so, so CUTE! I can't wait to work with it some more this month! Here is the card I will be showing you how to make and some close-ups!

Alright - let's get to the tutorial!

Here is what you will need to create this card:
  • 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inch cardstock card base
  • 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inch Maple Textured Cardstock
  • 4 x 5 1/4 inch Marigold Textured Cardstock
  • 3 3/4 x 5-inch Pumpkin Spice 12x12 Pattern Paper - gingham side
  • 31/4 x 3 1/4 inch piece of Acetate
  • Foam Tape- (I got mine at Hobby Lobby- I really like the height on this tape and that it is a thin strip)
  • 2 5/8 inch Metal Circle Die
  • 3-inch Metal Circle Die
  • Washi Tape
  • Manual Die Cutting Machine
  • Foam Tape
  • Sequins, Confetti or Glitter - whatever you'd like to put inside your shaker
  • Rocky Racoon Doodlepop
  • Chit Chat Die Cuts - I used the "Hello Autumn" speech bubble
  • "Happy Fall" Shape Sprinkles
  • Basic Supplies like scissors, paper trimmer, adhesive, and double-sided tape.

This is the Maple Textured Cardstock. This is going to be the background of the card. Set this piece aside for now.

Using the Pumpkin Spice paper, place a 3-inch circle die on the right side of the paper. Position it how you'd like, and secure with some washi tape.

Run this paper through your manual die cutting machine.

Next, we need to cut a smaller circle out of our Marigold Textured Cardstock. To do this, place the gingham paper we just cut out on top of the Marigold paper. DONT GLUE IT DOWN just yet - simply place it on top of the orange paper. Next, place the 2 5/8 inch circle die in the center of the hole we previously cut out to make sure it is evenly spaced. Secure the die to the orange paper with washi tape. You can set the gingham paper aside.

Run the Marigold paper through your manual die cutting machine to get a piece that looks like this:

NOW you can glue the gingham paper to the Marigold cardstock. :)

Now we need to figure out where to put our shaker portion of our card. This is the easiest way I have found to do this - First, let's bring our Maple Cardstock background back in. We are going to place the papers we just cut out on top of the Maple cardstock. DO NOT GLUE DOWN - just place it on top so we can see where to put our shaker. Next, locate the inside portion of the circle that you just cut out of the Marigold paper. Add some washi tape to the back of the circle.

Now place that circle inside the hole we cut out.

Now take away the gingham and Marigold papers and set aside. You should have a paper that looks like this now:

ALRIGHT - time for the fun part! The shaker portion! I used these sequins from 28 Lilac Lane. They are called "Leaves" and I got them from Scrapbook.com -and can be found here: Leaves Sequins

Now we are going to add our foam tape. It's not pictured, but go ahead and add your foam tape all around the Marigold orange circle.  Make sure that there are no gaps in your foam tape. This part is important so that our goodies in the shaker card don't fall out!  Add foam tape to the rest of the card as shown below. Be careful not to put any of the foam tape all the way to the edge because the paper we are going to be putting over the top of this piece does not go all the way to the edge. You can now move the Marigold circle out of the way.

This next step is just personal preference. I don't like that when you make a shaker card, all of the goodies on the inside settle to the bottom. I like to glue a few of the bits to the background just to have some always showing. You can totally skip this step if you want!

Now go ahead and add the rest of your sequins to the center of the circle as shown.

You don't need to add a whole bunch to the inside. If you add too much the sequins won't shake as well, so just enough so that you are not overflowing this little bowl we just make :)

Next, we need to add the acetate window to our card. Locate the gingham and Marigold cardstock paper we make previously. On the back of this paper, add some double-sided tape all around the circle window.

Remove the backing and then add the acetate to the paper. This Acetate piece is 3 1/4 x 3 1/4 inches - just barely bigger than our 2 5/8 inch circle.

Ok, let's remove all of the backing paper off of the foam tape...

Next, place our gingham and Marigold papers with the Acetate window panel in it on top.

Glue this entire piece to your card base and there you have it! Now you can decorate the front of your card with all your favorite Pumpkin Spice goodies!

That's all there is to it! Lots of steps, but none are super hard! Believe me, once you start making shaker cards, they become so addicting! Make sure to tell me in the comments what you like to put inside your shaker cards! And please let me know if you have any questions! Thank you so much for stopping by today! Have a wonderful World Cardmaking Day my Friends!
