FAIRY GARDEN BEAUTIFUL GIRL LAYOUT | with Traci

It's hard to believe it's almost the end of May ... but what's even harder for me to believe is that this sweet girl graduated from Pre-K today!  This picture was taken at her graduation luau party, and when I saw the colors, I knew they would be perfect for a Fairy Garden page.

I wanted to keep the page simple to focus on the beautiful photo, but I also wanted it to be colorful.  So although my background is white, I backed it with the pretty Fairy Floral paper and a solid band of swimming pool linen. 

I thought a band of sprinkles would be fun, so I used a pencil and a ruler to draw lines on the white page.  Then I filled in the space with lots of cute sprinkles and erased the lines.  I used the tip of my craft knife to place each one.  This was actually very relaxing and I love the shine and color it created across my page.

So if you're hoarding your sprinkles (guilty here!) step out of your comfort zone and use them up in a big way!  You'll love the texture it creates on the page too!!  Have fun!

Embellishing Focus | Box Card by Brigit

Doodlebug has so many adorable embellishments that you can add to your project to give it that perfect touch. Some of my favorites are the many different kinds of sprinkles they offer like the popular shaped sprinkles that match their collections.

Loved putting this box card together, it was so much fun! I used the suitcase base from svgcut's truck of wildflowers and added the flowers and grass from the fence and hay from the horse #3 down on the farm svg files.

I used a bunch of sprinkles from two different packs for the flower centers and a couple of farm friends shape sprinkles scattered around the group of flowers. Also used some Doodlebug brads on the suitcase.

More farm friends shape sprinkles on the truck which is from the down on the farm odds & ends pack and speech bubble from the down on the farm chit chat pack.

A couple more embellishments added to the back to match the pretty patterned paper!

So Punny | Pizza My Heart Layout with Melinda

Pizza anyone? I must admit, I probably should have eaten before creating this layout because the more food icons I used the hungrier I became. Luckily our little Pug 'Dusty' doesn't think the same about his pizza toy or we could be in all sorts of trouble. To be honest, he quite often falls asleep on his slice of pizza so I thought it would be fun to use 'So Punny' with all the little pizzas to record this sweet photo of our Pug and his pizza pillow.

The brand new Chit Chat pieces work perfectly to co-ordinate with the icons so I used the 'you've stolen a PIZZA my heart' speech bubble as my page title.

When putting together a collage style layout I always use a variety of flat and dimensional stickers to create small shadows which adds to the interest of the page. That's why Doodle-Pop dimensional stickers work perfectly and I can't go past their cuteness.

Although 'So Punny' is a Valentine's Collection, it's design is broad enough to be used for so much more. So, have a hunt around your photo library and find some fun photos of pizza nights, or take-out with friends, or even camping pics where you are cooking bacon and eggs on a BBQ. All these events make up the 'every day' moments in our lives which are so important to record.

Mix it Up Challenge: 3D Christmas Tree with Kathy

Hi Everyone!  It's Kathy today with my take on the Mix & Match Challenge!  One of my favorite things about Doodlebug collections is that you can always mix and match to fit your project!  I mixed 3 different Christmas Collections to make this fun tree...

To make the tree I used the SVGCuts Heirloom Christmas Tree.  It reminded me of the ceramic tree we used to have growing up!!  The tree itself was made using Tree Festival Double Sided Cardstock from the Milk & Cookies Collection. The base of the tree was made using Holly Days Double Sided Cardstock from the Sugarplums Collection and the plaid paper panels are made from the Holiday Cheer Paper from the 2013 Home for the Holidays Collection.  It doesn't matter that they are 3 different collections spread over 4 years, they all coordinate perfectly!  Here is the tree lit up, (yes, it even lights like the old ceramic tree!) and some close ups of the ornaments I made using some Shaped Sprinkles and Cute Clips!

The star was made from some Sugar Coated Cardstock in Bumblebee.

To make the ornaments, I either wrapped some jewelry wire around the shape or glued the wire to the back.  I used the Sugarplums Shaped Sprinkles, Candy Cane Shaped Sprinkles, Lily White Snowflakes Shaped Sprinkles and some Mini Hearts Cute Clips to decorate the tree.

Stitching Challenge: Beach Babe Layout by Kathy

Hi Everyone!  It's Kathy today with my Stitching Challenge project!  The Doodlebug Design Team members were challenged to create a project where stitching with Doodlebug Twine was the focus.  I decided to create stitching files on my Silhouette using the adorable Doodlebug Cut files!  Take a peek...

Since I wanted my stitching to be the focus, I kept my layout pretty simple...a grid design using some Gingham Linen Petite Prints and a few shaped sprinkles as embellishments.  I stitched using some Doodle Twine in Bumblebee, Coral (from the Spring Assortment, Bubble Blue, Swimming Pool, Bubblegum and Blue Jean.  Here are some close-ups of the stitched squares...

For these squares, I used the Silhouette cut files Sun- Fun in the Sun (here in Lori Whitlock SVG shop) and Clouds Spring Things (here in Lori Whitlock SVG shop)

The shell file is the Pearl Shell -Under the Sea Silhouette file (here in the Lori Whitlock SVG Shop) , the waves I created myself.

The sand dollar was created using the Sand Dollar Under the Sea Silhouette file (here in the Lori Whitlock SVG Shop),  The starfish is the Shell Under the Sea file (here in the Lori Whitlock SVG Shop) and the fish is from  Fish - Anchors Aweigh file (here in the Lori Whitlock SVG shop).  

I finished my layout with a simple title using some Skinny Alphas in Swimming Pool and some Stickers from the Under The Sea Icon Sheet.

Kids Craft Challenge: Captain America Framed Art by Melinda

"Make me a Captain America Shield" was the answer my four year old son gave me when I posed the question of what children's project he would like me to create with him. That probably wasn't the response I was expecting but he was insistent that was all he wanted. Next time I don't think I'll ask.

He loves the Avengers and has a few of the characters but Captain America seems to be the one he carts around with him the most. At first I had no idea how to make a shield with paper until we talked about it a bit more and he said he would like a picture to go on his wall above his bed. Now THAT I could manage.

I dragged out every red, white and blue embellishment and paper I could find after tracing the shape onto my white cardstock with an engraving tool.

There was a very eclectic mix of collections used but that didn't pose any issues as I was only after the colour and not the theme.

The finished result left me devoid of nearly every red, white and blue embellishment I had on hand but one little man was super excited to have his Captain America Art hanging above his bed.
