Fairy Tales Collection: Birthday Girl Layout

Hi everyone! It's Karen, and today it's all about unicorns and rainbows! When you live in a house with two little girls aged 6 and 7, you can't help but squeal a little bit when Doodlebug comes out with a collection like Fairy Tales! When I first saw this collection, I knew exactly what picture needed to get scrapped. Not too long ago, one of my daughters received a unicorn helmet for her birthday (I know, I want one in my size too). Given that this collection celebrates birthday as well as unicorns, it was perfect match. Tada! When I first saw this collection, I decided to play a bit with the colouring on the photo (after I finished squealing). I recoloured the photo to black and white, leaving the helmet in full colour. It was then ready to make its debut on a this fun interactive layout featuring some cutout star shapes, and perhaps the cutest die cut unicorn you will ever come across... ...conveniently found in the fabulous Odd and Ends die cuts! And then, just because I seem to have a problem with limiting myself to only one photo on a layout, I added a little fold over to display... ...even more pictures! This would also be a fun place to include some journaling or even memorabilia from and event for party! The title was a breeze with even more die cuts from the Odds and Ends pack (seriously, can Doodlebug make scrapbooking any easier?!) and after a bit of hand lettering and numbering, I was all done... ...but not with the collection! Because as I was creating this page, my other daughter was also creating right beside me. And when she revealed her creation featuring some of the amazing rainbow washi tape from this collection and some bumblebee mini doilies, I couldn't believe how creative her use of the tape and doilies was. So I quickly snapped a picture of her proudly showcasing her creation... ...and then quickly set off to print the picture and use her very own ideas on a layout featuring her ideas... ...including a larger version of the washi tape rainbow bordered with some journaling... ...and then some modified bumblebee mini doilies topped off with some bumblebee jewels for some texture and shine! Can I just say that this collection really is worthy of a spot at the end of the rainbow. I guarantee that young, old, or somewhere in between, working with this collection will bring a smile to your face! In fact for me, it became an opportunity to not only capture some fun memories, but make new ones! So what are you waiting for? Thanks for stopping by! Hugs, Karen
