Tuesday Tutorial: Framed Art Piece by Sherry

Hi, it's me Sherry! I love the happy colors of the Doodlebug collections and try to replicate those in some of our home decor.  You can't help but smile when you see the rainbow of hues.

For this framed wall art, I started with a wooden frame picked up at the dollar store.  A quick coat of diluted white acrylic gave it a subtle look and perfect for showcasing this bright art piece.

The sky is simply a sheet of Petite Prints patterned paper.   Clouds were cut from the Birthday Celebration Surprise Party paper and adhered with foam tape for dimension.
The house was constructed of Nifty Notions Sew Plaid patterned paper, cardstock and the oh-so-lovely border stickers.   [How I wish my little ole country home had trim like that!]  I looped jewelry wire around a pencil and added hearts to add to the chimney.    It is a small detail, but a cute effect.
Grass is paper frills painted the same green as the remainder of the grass.   For the ground cover, I used "leftover" alphabet stickers randomly placed on a piece of chipboard.  Once the letters covered the area, they got a fresh coat of grass green acrylic paint.  It adds a wondramous texture to the background.

Next, I printed the rules of our house [wording found via pinterest] and adhered over the grassy area.  Heart border stickers were placed on the frame's edge to add a bit more dimension.  Finally, glitter was sprinkled around to add some sparkle!

Come visit my Wondramous blog when you get a second, I would love to show you more inspiration!
