SUMMER FUN PATCHWORK GREETING CARDS | with Niella

Hi crafty friends! Nice to see you all pop by! Today I am so happy to show you my last Summer Fun project which is a sweet set of paper patchwork 6x4 Summer greeting cards! These were so fun to create to gift to friends, family, co-workers and anyone else to make their day a little bit extra special!  Stay tuned to see my video showcase of my crafty cards to see the dimension!

To start, I selected six patterned papers and cut six 2" squares and gently curled the corners.  Then using just a couple drops of liquid adhesive I randomly adhered each square in slight overlapping formation on the front of my card.  

Next repeat again until you have decorated 3 base cards.  Once that is done, you can start to build your card upwards.  I have added some contrasting papers and cardstock to some of the corners as it brings dimension and illusion of different patterns and textures.  Do not be afraid to make mistakes and play around with different looks.  It's only paper and you'll never know what could be possible if you didn't try.  Crafting is all about going for it!

Now comes the fun part! Tucking in some mini paperclips and add the ephemera! I'm not stranger to a layer or two of foam tabs! I find creating scenes and matching bits and pieces together to create clusters brings me so much paper joy! How fun is all the elements coming together! The sentiments and word confetti finish off each card, not to mention the sprinkles! And I also add in a Doodlebug brand tab on my Doodlebug projects.

SUMMER FUN FLORAL CARDS | with Karen

It has been dreary the last week or so and it is probably safe to say that summer has seen it's last day here in Calgary. But there is one thing that I absolutely love to craft with on a gloomy day - anything Doodlebug! The colours are always enough to turn around any gloomy day. Beyond that, if I can find some Doodlebug florals in my stash, I am even happier! So today called for some Summer Fun, and the beautiful florals you can find in the coordinating Bits & Pieces pack.

This set of cards is on the clean and simple side because I really wanted those florals to look like arrangements that were floating on top of the cards. I grabbed a variety of sizes and colours for each card and then just slightly layered them to see what shapes I could create. On a couple of the cards I did layer the die cuts on a small 3x3 pieces of the Water Babies 12x12 patterned cardstock but on the other one, I just used a patterned tag from the Bits & Pieces pack.

Because of the layout of this card, I needed a little extra texture on one side so I also added a pretty little Mini Paper Doily in Mint. Some foam adhesive on a few of the flowers gives the illusion of more layers and dimension on the card.

Because the card design are simple, the little details really matter. A few Mini Paper Clips and some mini jewels created just a little bit more eye candy on these designs. Oh, and to finish each one off, I grabbed one of the amazing Puffy Word sentiments from the Summer Fun pack for a little message on each.

Documenting summer memories doesn't have to be limited to an album; for this project, I used a card sheet to display photos and created a matching box to coordinate with the theme, using the Summer Fun collection.

For my cover page, I added a flap so I could document my favorite photo from this summer, decorating it with mini icons from the collection!

This photo captures the way we gather all our summer memories and experiences, treasuring them forever in this little box.

SUMMER FUN BEACH LIFE LAYOUT | with Tarrah

Today I'm sharing a fun-filled summer layout featuring the adorable Summer Fun collection. This layout perfectly captures a sunny day at the beach and all the colorful, carefree vibes that come with it!

The large Beach Life cut file became the focal point of my page and provided the perfect foundation for showcasing one of my favorite beach photos. To make the title pop, I backed the letters with the rainbow stripe paper from the 6' x 8' paper pad from the Summer Fun collection, creating a bright and playful look that instantly draws the eye.

I also used the collection's vibrant patterned papers to back the sections of the beach umbrella and beach ball cut files. Mixing the colorful prints added lots of interest while keeping the design cohesive. The cheerful yellows, pinks, blues, and oranges really bring that summertime energy to the layout.

To help my photo stand out, I layered it on coordinating patterned papers from the 6' x 8' paper pad and placed it right over part of the beach umbrella. This creates depth and helps connect the photo to the overall design. A few phrases from the This and That sticker sheet, including "Love This" and "Beach Hair. Don't Care." were the perfect finishing touches for documenting this sunny memory.

Of course, no beach-themed page would be complete without cute embellishments! I added some of the adorable Summer Fun icons including the sandcastle from the Diggin Summer Doodlepop, a crab, flip-flops, and seagull all from the Odds & Ends pack and also some shells and starfish from the Puffy Sticker icon set. These fun little details help tell the story and guide your eye around the layout.

I love how the bright florals around the border, frame the clean white background, allowing all of the colorful elements to shine. The combination of the playful cut file and the happy Summer Fun collection made this layout come together so easily.

SUMMER FUN ACCORDION TAG MINI ALBUM | with Kathy

I'm back with another Summer Fun mini album.  Two of my favorite types of mini's are accordion and tag books.  I decided to combine the two with this cute album... Take a peek...

I started with two chipboard covers, each measuring 3"x 4.75".  I covered both with the wave side of the water babies paper.  I glued down a piece of seam tape (long enough to wrap around my whole book, about 24") to the center of my front cover and then decorated it with some Odds & Ends, Shaped Sprinkles and a word bubble from the Chit Chats.

Next, I created my pocket accordion pages.  To make them, I first cut 2 pieces of white cardstock each measuring 12"x 6.25".  I overlapped the short sides 1" and adhered together using double sided tape.  I trimmed this one long strip down to be 16.5".  My finished piece measured 16.5"x6.25".  Next I scored the piece.  To create the pockets, I scored the long way 1.75" up from the bottom, and folded it up. My strip measured 4.5" tall when folded.   To create the individual pages, I scored the long strip (with the bottom folded up)  at 2.75", 5.5", 8.25, 11" and 13.75".  I then accordion folded the pages using a bone folder for crisp folds.

To create my wavy boarder, I cut a 6 pieces of the wave paper measuring 2.5"w x 1.75"h.  I used a wave border die from my stash to cut the top of each piece about .25" down. You could also do this by hand.  I glued the wave pieces onto the pocket of each page section, then trimmed the top of the white cardstock to align with the waves.  I then added fishies from the summer school shaped sprinkles and the cute pelican from the odds & ends to decorate.

To finish, I stitched the pockets with my machine to hold them down and glued the covers onto each side of the accordion.

Next I created my tag "pages".  To create my tags, I started with papers from the 6x8 pad, and some lime petite prints cut to 2.5" x 4.25".  I trimmed the top corners, and punched a hole in the middle to make the tags.  I added some doodle twine and combined them with some tags from the bits & pieces in my pockets.

For a little visual interest, I created a cute clip using a lily white mini clothes pin and the seagull from the tropical trio doodle pops.

I decorated my tags with a variety of mini icon stickers, chit chat pieces, this & that stickers, puffy words and bits & pieces.  I also added some photo mats.

This is the perfect mini to document a weekend getaway!  And because everything is more fun when you cans see it in action, I created a quick flip through.

SUMMER FUN 4x4 MINI ALBUM | with Conny

Hello, crafty friends!  t’s Conny here from The Daily Life of Creativity, and I’m so happy to be back with another mini album tutorial! Today we’re creating a 4” x 4” mini album using the Summer Fun collection. This album may be small, but it has plenty of room for creativity! It includes pockets, flip pages, and interactive elements, giving you plenty of space for mini photos, journaling, and, of course, fun embellishment clusters. As always, I love creating my own album bases. They do take a little more time to construct, but I promise—the finished project is completely worth it!

I started with the chipboard pieces:  I cut two pieces measuring 4” x 4” for the covers and one piece measuring 4” x 2 1/2” for the spine.

For the cover, I used Swimming Pool Gingham Linen petite prints from which I cut one piece to 12” x 5”.   I placed the chipboard pieces onto the cardstock, leaving approximately 1/8” between the spine and covers. I centered everything and left an even amount of cardstock around the outside to wrap the chipboard.  Next I trimmed the corners at an angle, leaving about 1/8” from the chipboard, Lastly, I adhered and wrapped all four sides.

Now for the hinges:  I cut a piece of cardstock 4” x 9” and scored it on the 9” side at:

2”, 2 1/2”, 3”, 3 1/2”, 4”, 4 1/2”, 5”, 5 1/2”, 6”, 6 1/2”, and 7”.

I folded the scored sections into three raised hinges, leaving the first and last sections flat; I also left a flat section between the hinges.  To finish, I glued the raised sections together, then attached the hinge to the center of the spine. Three pages worked perfectly for me because I knew I would be adding lots of embellishments and foam adhesive. 

For each pocket page, I cut a piece of patterned paper 4” x 8” and score at 4”.  I folded it in half and added adhesive along the two sides and bottom, leaving the top open to create the pocket.

I added approximately 3 1/4” x 4"  inserts inside the pockets, leaving a little space at the top so I could add embellishment clusters.

For one of the pages, I also created a tri-fold using the Swimming Pool Gingham Linen cardstock. I cut it to approximately 3 3/4” x 11 1/4” and score at 3 3/4” and 7 1/2”.

I adhered the center section to the page, creating another fun spot for photos and journaling.

For the back, I used the adorable Polaroid-style scenes from the collection to create another tri-fold that opens from left to right.

And, of course, we can’t forget the best part—embellishing! I added layers, foam adhesive, mini icons, Doodle-Pops, and fun phrases like “The Life Is Sweet” and “On Vacation Mode.” For the front cover, I created a little beach scene using the palm tree Doodle-Pop, beach embellishments, and mini icons. I finished the album with a rainbow sheer ribbon closure.

And that’s it! A tiny 4” x 4” Summer Fun mini album with pockets, interactive pages, and plenty of space for photos and embellishments.

SUMMER FUN CAMERA ALBUM | with Traci

Hey friends! Traci here and today, I'm sharing a new scrapbook idea for your sunny warm weather photos. It's a camera shaped mini album made with the colorful Summer Fun Collection. It features pretty flowers, palm trees, cute fish, beach umbrellas, surfboards, and more. It's a fun and simple project for your summer memories!

To make this, I used my white Artsy Albums Acrylic Camera Shaped Album, the 6x8 paper pad, some 12x12 cut apart cards, and lots of cute embellishments. On the front, I wanted a beautiful color so I chose the tone-on-tone floral pattern called Pink Paradise.

My camera album comes with a white acrylic circle for the lens, but I added pattern papers underneath for more color. I punched a 3.5" circle out of the blue polka dot called Gull Friends and a 3" circle from the rainbow stripe titled Beach Towel. My white circle was next, then the scenic die cut from the Bits & Pieces. I think the image looks like a reflection in the lens!

Inside, I covered the white scrapbook pages with colorful pattern papers. Here, I used the sunny Summer Fun print in the background and created a flippie with a journaling card from the 12x12 Summer School paper. I added the "memories" sticker from the This & That, then decorated with a palm tree from the Odds & Ends and some super cute mini icon stickers.

I love the gorgeous flower print on the fold-out page above. To make it, I used the 4x4 "Life is Good" card from the Flamazing Flock sheet on the front flap. Then, I added a matching 4x6 card from the 6x8 paper pad on the inside. They look great together and give this page space for journaling and photos!

For this colorful pocket page, I used the green Paradise Palms print in the background and the Summer Fun paper on the front. Then I added the beautiful flower die cut from the Bits & Pieces and tucked some cute cards inside from the 12x12 Flamazing Flock and Beach Towel prints.

This fun layout has a flippie for 2 pictures AND a pocket! I created the white folding card and adhered it to the page on 3 sides. I added the scenic This & That sticker to the front and tucked a Bits & Pieces tag inside the back. Then, I decorated with the sun from the Odds & Ends and the cute lifeguard mini icon sticker.
