Hello friends - Tya here! Happy New Year! Just because winter is here doesn’t mean our spaces have to feel dull or gloomy! I love bringing in bright colors, happy patterns, and playful details during the colder months, and this framed paper sampler does exactly that. I created this cheerful piece using the Snow Much Fun collection , and it instantly adds warmth, charm, and a pop of personality to my winter décor.
This sampler is made up of a grid of sweet little winter scenes, each one layered with patterned papers, both from the 12x12 and 6x6 paper pad. There are die cuts from the Chit Chat, Odds and Ends and Bits and Pieces, and lots of texture with Mini Jewels and Shape Sprinkles. From smiling snow friends and cozy sweaters to whimsical houses, trees, and winter sentiments, every square tells a tiny story. I added subtle stitching, dimension, and touches of sparklewith some Stickles throughout to keep the design feeling playful and full of life, while the soft pastel color palette keeps everything feeling light, fresh, and cheerful.
Let'ts take a closer look at the project and I'll point out some of my favorite parts!
One of my favorite things to use on my samplers are by using Doodlepops. I love the dimesion they give! I used the super cute Yeti found on the "Hello Winter" Doodlepop. I love his friendly little wave and he looks so great layered on top of some of the scallop circle shapes found in the Bits and Pieces. The big blue heart die from the Odds and Ends and embellished with a sparkly blue Mini Jewel look so cute up in one of the corners.
I adore all of the cute houses found in the collection and I just had to add a little house scene on the sampler. The sweetest little penguin , found on the Icons Sticker looks so cute in front of the house. I added a few snowflakes from the Snow Colorful Shape Sprinkles. These are found throughout the whole sampler for continuity. I added some Stickles to the house for added sparkle and shine.
I adored the sweet little sweaters and mittens in the collection and added them to the sampler. I added tiny little mini jewels on the sweater and then the sparkle from the Stickles make this an adorable wintery sweater! And how sweet is the Grey Doodle Twine lacing the mittens together? So cute!
This little forest scene made up of the "hello winter" Chit Chat piece makes for a great center square for the sampler. It ties the whole project together beautifully. More Stickles and Mini Jewels add more shine to this center square.
I just had to add another Doodle-pop on the sampler because this one is just too cute! The snow globe shaker found on the Winter Wonderland Doodle-pop add such visual interests and a bit of magic. The cute fox sticker from the Icon Stickers gives the scene an extra dose of sweetness.
The smiling snowman paired with his little bird buddy is pure winter joy! These are found in the Odds and Ends. The pretty papers from the 6x6 pad , like the tiny snowflake paper cut into a snow bank make the charachters really pop, while the sparkle and snowflake Sprinkles add just the right amount of shine.
This sentiment square using a Limeade Mini Doily as a backing for the Let it Snow Chit Chat die cut brings in bold typography and layered textures. I loved all the snowflake die cuts with the Mini Jewels as centers surrounding the words. Too pretty!
This skiing cutie brings a playful, energetic vibe to the sampler. I love the layered trees and soft snowflake accents on the pattern paper behind him- it feels like he's gliding right through a winter wonderland! The 'tis the ski-son sentiment from the This and That Stickers fit this square perfectly!
One of my favorite things about a project like this is how versatile it is. It works beautifully as seasonal home décor, but it also gives you a chance to use smaller bits and pieces from a collection in a fun, creative way. Mixing patterns, layering embellishments, and repeating colors throughout the sampler really helps pull everything together into one cohesive winter statement piece.
Thank you so much for stopping by and taking a look at this bright and happy winter sampler! I hope it inspired you to create a cute handmade home décor piece of your own and to embrace color, texture, and whimsy in your winter crafting. Even on the coldest days, a little paper crafting can make your space feel warm and inviting!
