Kitten Smitten Collection: It's a Cat Life Layout by Monique

Hey everyone, it's Monique today sharing a "Kitten Smitten" layout. It's such a shame, but in our family we are all allergic to cats and I had to ask a friend for a photo of her cats. I simply adore this collection and if we hadn't been allergic I surely would have gone out and adopted a cat from a shelter just to be able to use this collection! But to be honest, I love all animals and my allergic kids are the main reason we don't have lots and lots of pets in the house.

Here's what I created for today's blog post: 

I started my layout by cutting out the huge heart (cut file from The Cut Shoppe) to use as background for my photo. More often than not I cut these background cut files from white cardstock but as I had decided to go with a black & white photo I wanted a colorful background. 

I matted the photo on that fabulous newsprint paper (morning mews) and created a cluster of elements on the right side of my photo. I added die-cuts from the "odds & ends" package, a cat shape sprinkle, the fishy bone paper clip and some tags from the "labels & tags" package. 

The title (photo below) consists of another die-cut from the "odds & ends" package and was simply perfect for this photo. And isn't that mouse super cute?!

Above the photo I adhered one of Doodlebug's birdies. As far as I'm concerned one can never have enough birds! 

I added a little bit of journaling, just stuck to the simple facts, and adhered pieces of border sticker beneath it to ground the text strips to my page. 

Really love how this turned out.
