Project Life Layout
by Sherry Cartwright

I print smaller photos onto plain white cardstock for Project Life.  When that week’s work has been documented, my daughter uses the leftover photos for her scrapbook projects --- when I don’t use them first.   Here, I used a collage of photos with a border of brown cardstock to frame them. I added in some embellishments in the hodge-podge style I love so much.

Doodlebug products used:  Petite Prints dot grid patterned cardstock - bon bon; Hopscotch alphabet stickers - bubble gum; Hopscotch alphabet stickers - bon bon; Nifty Notions fancy frills sticker [ruler]; Feeling Groovy fancy frill sticker [peace signs, heart, brown loops]; Welcome Home fancy frill sticker [white loops]; Sugarcoated boutique brad [heart] - Christmas candy; Sugarcoated brad - bright assortment

http://www.scrapbyrophilippsen.blogspot.com

I am a very romantic girl, and always I expresse it in my projects.
So I'm in love with the beautiful Sweet Cakes Collection, it is perfect for Valentine's Day projects.

Then I created a page, with flowers and bow for the one I love, my best friend, my partner, my hubby!!

And another Project is a heart of checkers game. It's very easy to do, and is a cute home decor.

It's simple:
Cut out a heart on your favorite cardstock or patterned paper, and then sew the lines of the board.
Then, punch two different colors of small hearts, and glue them on the board.
Then make a ruffled with a strip of paper, and glue it below the heart.

Supply list Project 1: dotted daisies-double-sided cardstock, heart to heart-double-sided cardstock, candy hearths-double-sided cardstock, hugs&kisses-double-sided cardstock, berry sweet-double-sided cardstock, sweet cakes-sugar coated, sweet cakes fancy frills, multicolors i love you-doodles, lilly white-mini jewels, bumblebee-mini jewels, boutique brads-sugar plum assortment, paper frills-limeade.

Tuesday Tutorial: Bookmark by Wendy

Hi there, Doodlebug fans!  It’s Wendy Sue here today, with a tutorial to share with you!

Are you in the market for a fun and easy Valentine’s Day craft to make with (or without) your kids?  I have an idea that would work well as a gift for a teacher, grandparent, or anyone who reads.  It’s a clever little bookmark made from an envelope!  I love the envelopes that are a part of the Create-A-Card series, but I don’t always use them for my cards (sometimes my cards are too bulky, or sometimes I just don’t tuck the card inside an envelope) – this is a great way to use the colorful envelopes I have left after the card has been given away.

Here’s what you’ll need for this project:
1.     An envelope for each bookmark (it may be possible to make 2 bookmarks from a single envelope, depending on the size)
2.     Patterned paper
3.     Border stickers
4.     Letter stickers
5.     Other stickers and/or embellishments

Here’s how to create your bookmark:

Step 1: Decide on the size you’d like to make your bookmark.

Mark the size on both edges of the envelope you’ll be cutting.  I marked mine at 3 inches.

Cut the corner (triangle shape) off the envelope

Step 2:  Measure a piece of patterned paper to cover the envelope corner.

My paper is marked at cut at 2 ¾ inches.

I wanted the pink envelope to show around the edges of the patterned paper.

Step 3:  Add a border sticker strip along the bottom.

Trim off the excess.

If some of the sticky back is exposed, rub it lightly with baby powder to eliminate the stickiness.

Step 4:  Embellish the bookmark.
You can use stickers, patterned papers, rub-ons, letters, etc.  But remember – it’s important to keep the embellishments flat.  You don’t want to damage a book with heavy or bulky embellishments – save those for another fun project!

I added a die-cut speech bubble, some letter stickers, and heart stickers to my bookmark.

Step 5: Place the bookmark on the corner of a page to save the place!

CHA Wrap Up: Create-A-Card & Thank You

First of all we would like to thank you for your support of Doodlebug once again. We are looking forward to 2012 and all that it holds, but without our great fans we wouldn't have the best job in the world.
Cynthea, Doodlebug Founder
Next, we could not skip over our fun and bright Create-A-Card product line. And if one thing is apparent when you stop by the Doodlebug booth, the fact that Cynthea and all of the Doodlebug team really pay attention to the detail in the booth...even down to the small accents sprinkled throughout their displays. So I snapped some quick photos of the darling cards in the display cases.
