Partying it Up: New Years Party by Karen

Hi everyone! It's Karen, and today I am up with a fun selection of projects just in time for New Years! Now wait...I know there are some other major holidays before this one, but you can never be ready too soon, right? And anyway, getting ready for New Year's is the perfect way to procrastinate other things you are trying to avoid (not that I would know or be doing this at all right now...cough, cough). Okay, but back to celebrating the New Year...
  As I was going through my vast Doodlebug collection...I mean...supplies, I stumbled across Hats Off - a great graduation themed collection that was released earlier this year. The black and white theme seemed like a perfect fit, and once I started flipping through all the patterns I realized just how perfect it could be! In fact, even now, as I type this post, I can think of another 3-4 projects I could pull together with this theme...like some photo props for a photo booth, some lip balm holders for a little party favour or even a star shaped banner. But perhaps I should talk about the projects I have created so far... ...starting with my favourite - some little place setting treat boxes that double as a party game for the evening. Inspired by our Chinese food New Year's tradition, each one of these little boxes has the initials of a party attendee on one side using the cute Abigail alpha stickers (which works great on the table as a place card), and then has a little clock, each with a different time leading up to midnight. Inside is a little game that can be played at that time of the night...everything from sentimental sharing of great memories of the year to silly New Year's resolutions. Create as many as you would like, and spread them out as much as you like! And if you are like me and have a hard time staying up until midnight, simply adjust your times and activities accordingly (perhaps with one at 10:00 that says "Everyone, go home!) But I digress... Another one of my favourites is this miniature party hat. I love the idea of placing each on a head band...and if you are really creative, perhaps your could even use the same idea to create different facinators! Some rolled paper and a little hot glue and you are all set! this little hat took less than a 6X6" piece of paper to make! And when you are ready to put your feet up and enjoy at bit of bubbly (either at midnight or before) consider whipping up a few of these easy wine glass charms. I simply drew an oval shape and cut a small hole off set to one end. I embellished them with some star shaped cute clips and then added initials to some start die cuts from the Odds and Ends pack. Regardless of the time when you do your countdown, nothing is more fun than a confetti popper! Made with some embellished treat pop containers (check the baking section of your craft store), these are way too much fun!
 I decorated each by wrapping some paper around and securing with some glue and washi tape. I then added some sentiments from the 12x12 paper sheet, added a bit of Doodle twine and some Sprinkles and then filled with confetti (for a simple and inexpensive way to do this, purchase a long strand of garland and trim off all the little ends. You will fill 12 with less than half of a string of garland). When "midnight" strikes, push up from the bottom and you will have a fun surprise!
So there you have it! A little bit of elegant black and white fun ready for 2018. Now I better get back to all the things I didn't do while using "the quickly approaching New Year" as an excuse! Thanks for stopping by!

Partying It Up: Birthday Set by Anita Bownds

Hi there Doodlebug peeps 

Anita here today sharing birthday gift set using the fairy tales collection 

I created this set for my daughters 13th birthday..

With the card I cut 2 panels from the cut apart patterned paper and folded it in half to make a card 

Then I cut some copy paper and added it in too the middle of the card and machine stitched it down the middle 

Then I add a few stickers on the front of the card

I decided to create a 3D cupcake 

I started with a water balloon and paper mached over the top of the balloon 

Then I traced out a cupcake pattypan and cut out and adhered it around the paper mache

Then I cut a paper straw to size and polled a hole in the top of the cupcake 

Next I used white heavy gesso over the top of the cupcake like icing then using the glitter while the gesso was wet so the glitter would stick then I added some sequins over the top and let it dry 

Next to keep the sequins and glitter from falling of I add a 3d gloss gel over it..

Next I needed a box to put my daughters gift in ...{new mobile phone}

I found a box in the kitchen with coffee sachets in and was the perfect size then I decorated it with patterned paper and stickers..

Partying it Up: Book Themed Baby Shower with Kathy

Hi Everyone, it's Kathy today!  The Doodlebug Design Team was challenged to come up with some fun party themes using Doodlebug products.  This was perfect for me since I offered to help out with my niece's baby shower! The shower was book-themed, everyone brought a favorite baby book in place of a card!   I made a fun banner, the favors and a cute little card, to go along with the theme, take a peek...

I started with the favors, I made little book boxes using my Silhouette and the Pastel Plaid Paper from Kitten Smitten and Gingham Linen Petite Prints.    The favors were a combination of a couple of cut files I edited to fit what I needed.  I then added cute little thank you labels.  The pictures on the labels are Doodlebug Cut files that I made into print and cut files.  They represent some of my daughter's favorite books when she was little. (The books are:  If You Give A Dog a Donut, Make Way for Ducklings, If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, The Very Hungry Caterpillar and If You Give a Cat a Cupcake. )  I filled the favor boxes with bars of custom made cold pressed soaps from a local business.  Here are some close ups of the books...

Once I finished the favors (all 40 of them!)  I couldn't resist making a banner with the characters from the labels.

 The banner base is from a Lori Whitlock file here.  I used the following Doodlebug Cut files for the characters (same as the labels on the boxes)  Orange Dog, Donuts, Duckie, Mice, Chocolate Cookie, Caterpillar, Leaf 1, Green Kitty and Cupcake 2.  Again I used the Pastel Plaid paper and some Gingham Linen Petite prints.  I tied it all together with some Cupcake Chunky Twine.  Here are some close ups of the banner pieces...

Finally I made my niece a coordinating  Pop Up Card.  We already know she's having a girl and they decided to name her Marian.

Here is my adorable niece and her even cuter baby bump!  She loved the favors!

Partying It Up: Hot Cocoa Bar by Wendy Sue

Hi Doodlebug Friends!  It's Wendy Sue here today, sharing my fun little hot cocoa bar party!  I always enjoy hot cocoa in the wintertime, especially around the holidays, and when I have fun little add-ins, it's even better!!  So, naturally, that's what I decided to create and share with you today!

I have a little buffet table in my kitchen, and for the next little while, it's going to be a hot cocoa station!  I used papers and embellishments from the "Milk & Cookies" collection to make it cute and fun!

I made these little cup wraps by cutting 1 1/2" strips of patterned paper and wrapping them around simple styrofoam cups. Where they cross in the middle, I punched a ladybug red cardstock circle and added a Christmas tree cute clip!  It was easy to put these together - and as a bonus, we won't get our cups mixed up!

In the background here, you can see that I framed the cute Santa Scene - because it's so super cute and I just had to display it this holiday season!

Of course, you can't have hot chocolate without a spoon to stir it with - so I embellished a simple mason jar and some fun wooden spoons with doodle tape!  Quick and easy and so much fun!

And the hot chocolate...we love the individual packets around here - no need to measure!  (Except for that jar of striped goodness in the top right corner of the photo below - that's my very special, very favorite Hazelnut flavor cocoa!!) Of course, the best part is all of the extra sweetness that can be mixed in!

I made these cute little candy bowls with a silhouette cut file and various patterned papers from the "Milk & Cookies" collection!  Then I filled them up with all of my favorite festive and "meltable" candies!

I'm fairly certain there's a law against NOT putting a candy cane in your hot cocoa in December.  Wouldn't want to break any laws, right?!?

I cut out these letters with my Silhouette and hung them on Chunky Twine before hanging them to the wall behind the sweet goodness!

And if one banner is good...two is even better, so I made a cute little scallop banner to attach to the front of the tabletop!  I used my sewing machine to quickly stitch them all together!

Partying It Up: Bingo Holiday Party by Brigit

Hello Doodlebug Fans, it's Brigit here. I'd like to share my Christmas Bingo Party using Doodlebug's Milk & Cookies collection. I had so much fun putting together all these projects for this sweet party, loved working with all the adorable papers, stickers, svg's, etc from this collection.

Bingo, milk & cookies, Christmas popcorn, gingerbread, m&m's, just a whole lot of Doodlebug goodness going on here!

I created the bingo cards in Silhouette Studio and used the milk & cookies svg collection from Lori Whitlock's shop, you can also get Doodlebug cut files from the Silhouette Design Store. I sized each one to fit into the squares and then printed them out. For the muslin bag I printed the milk & cookies label on a t-shirt transfer sheet and used my Cricut easy press to iron it on, this holds the bingo draw cards that I also made in Silhouette Studio.

For some tasty treats, I picked up some gingerbread cookies and packaged them using a sheet of jolly gingerbread and some clear bags.

I printed and cut a couple of the milk & cookies svg's and cut a some bands from the milk and cookies paper. I also added banners cut from the jolly gingerbread paper onto each straw.

Can't have a party without popcorn and since it's for Christmas I melted some white chocolate and add green food coloring to mix through the popcorn.  I also added some of the red and green m&m's and mini marshmallows. The paper I used for the boxes are candy christmas, milk & cookies, santa's sweets and some milk & cookies this and that stickers.

The printed cards measure 4.25" x 5.25" and each one is matted with sweetheart cardstock and paper from the 6 x 6 paper pad.

The red bag that holds all the bingo game pieces is decorated with some odds & ends and lily white abigail stickers. I bought the bag from the Dollar Tree, all the pieces fit nicely inside, this makes such a fun gift for a child.

For the banner and Christmas tree skirt shown in the photo above, I used the 12 x 12 paper pack.

Partying It Up: Holiday Treat Exchange Party by Traci

Welcome back everyone!  It's Traci, and I'm excited to share a few ideas I have for a Sweet Treat Exchange party.  Think cookie exchange, but with any kind of sweet treat!

First, every party needs an invitation.  For mine, I used gingham and linen pattern papers for the base, and then created a print & cut using Doodlebug's Jar of Hearts design with my silhouette machine.  The font is by Lori Whitlock and is called LW cutie pie. 

Next, I created some cupcake wrappers and toppers.  I punched out scallop circles from Milk & Cookies pattern paper, layered them white card stock circles and icon stickers, and attached them to Doodlebug pixie sticks.  I cut the cupcake wrapper out with another Silhouette design.

For my little signs, I used the Cutie pie font to print the words, cut the card stock to 2.5" x 4" and embellished each one with icon stickers and a few doodlepops.  Each sign is matted with merry berries pattern paper.

Finally, my little banner is just 4x4 and 4x6 cards from the Milk and Cookies and Cream and Sugar collections.  I matted them with card stock, punched holes in the corners, and added ladybug chunky twine.
