Graduation Cards | with Virginia

In a few weeks time, there will be hollow echos through school hallways and we'll hear the laughter of kids outside as they ramp up for some Summer fun!   Here are some graduation and end-of-school card ideas using the Hat's Off collection.  I made the cards monochromatic with touches of silver foil, all that is needed are school specific color embellishments for that extra pop!
I like to use the cut-apart-cards paper for the card design.  It's so easy to fussy cut out the frame or shape(s) to make instant die-cut elements.
The 4x4 cut-apart card originally had the sentiment 'Let the Adventure begin', you can change up the sentiment to suit your theme. This card would be great for a teacher who is ready to enjoy a splash of Summer fun after a busy school year.
No matter what grade your child is graduating from, it always deserves some recognition!

Embellishing Focus | #Grad layout by Tya

With 2 graduates this year - one from college , the other from high school - I  inevitably have "graduation" on the brain. I chose to play with the awesome Hat's Off! collection to create this layout.

The Hat's Off collection has SO MANY fun embellishments that I used on my layout - it was so fun to layer so many different types of embellishments on one layout. One design tip is to create little clusters of embellishments and use foam tape or dots to add different layers for dimension. Here are some close ups of the little clusters;

Aren't the classic black and white colors so bold and eye catching! And the pops of the metallics are perfect! I just loved the classic look of this line. Thank you for stopping  by today and  taking a peek of my layout! If you have a special grad in your life, pick up this amazing line with all of its darling embellishments up and have fun with them creating your own projects. Happy Crafting!

Hats Off! Collection: Gift Card Album by Wendy Sue

Hello Doodlebug friends!  It's Wendy Sue here today, and I'm excited to share a little project I made for my favorite 2017 graduate with the amazing "Hats Off!" collection!  (The little album I used is a cut file in the silhouette store.) Here's a look:

I know...it doesn't look like much - but just wait until you see the inside! I needed to keep the outside kind of flat so the entire piece could be thrown in a purse or backpack.  Because, truly, they are going to want to keep this gift close after they head off to college!  (Oh, and don't miss that fun velcro closure!)

Drum roll please...

Ta-daaaaa!  Can you tell what it is?  It's a mini accordion album...with pockets!  Here's a closer look at the inside of the front cover - then we'll get to the meat of it! ;)

I really really wish I could take better photos of these odds & ends pieces - they are gorgeous metallic silver - SO pretty!

And here's a look at the first pocket page - first empty...then sporting gift #1!  I embellished the top of the pocket page with the cutest graduation shape sprinkles!

Each little pocket is the perfect size for holding a giftcard!  Of course, every grad needs to head to Target to buy supplies for college!

Oh, and food.  Every college freshman needs to be spoiled every once in a while - when they are tired of ramen or mac & cheese, they can pull out their handy-dandy gift and treat themselves to a delicious meal out! The gorgeous metallic odds & ends have been added to both of these pages.  And don't miss that awesome graduation cap paper clip on the right page - it's the cutest!

Maybe a few more meals out. ;)  I added some fun stickers (tip: use baby powder to remove the stickiness on any portion of the sticker that hangs off of a page - or in this case, a pocket) to both pages.  And that doodle pop grad cap is so perfect over there on the right page.  Can you see the sweet little acetate cloud behind it?

And the perfect gift for any grad - especially your FAVORITE grad?

Cold. Hard. Cash.  It fits perfectly in the pocket as well. ;)

The last page is perfect for this little grad owl and his special message for your graduate:

Don't forget to embellish the back of the closed album:

It's the perfect sticker (with awesome metallic silver) for the back - the perfect message for a new graduate!

And, if you want to gift a little something extra, pick up one of these awesome collector pins to add to your already amazing gift - because they are just the cutest things ever:

"Hats Off!" to all of this years grads - now go make them something fun to celebrate!!

Hat's Off Collection: Cards by Courtney Lee

Hellooooo out there doodlebug lovers!!! This is Courtney Lee from Court's Crafts kicking off the new Hat's Off collection! The acetate odds and ends and the silver foil REALLY make this collection shine (literally). The silver is practically mirror and is REALLY gorgeous in person.

Happy Graduation!
My mother in law just finished her teaching credential and I am so proud of her for completing it while working! I thought I would make her a really fun card using this sweet lady owl!

This new chenille and crushed velvet cardstock are amazing. They are SOOOOO soft. I used the crushed velvet on all of my cards and it cuts BEAUTIFULLY! Have you ever had fuzzy cardstock that left like pilly edges? Not this! Look at that edge! Gorgeous.

Aren't these cute clips adorable!? I hid them on two of my cards. I also added glossy accents onto the graduation cap and dropped a star into it while it was still wet. I love adding just a touch of something to the odds and ends. I feel like they really come to life!

Congratulations!
My husband just hit a huge milestone in life and his company color is this blue. So I decided to make him a masculine congratulations card with this fantastic acetate piece from the odds and ends!

Check out that shine!!! On acetate! Once again, I snuck two cute clips in there on top and bottom to frame the sentiment.

Back to School
Lastly, have you ever had a card that just came together wildly and you just LOVED it!? This was that card for me.

I had the concept of the star background, the apple and the worm and it was pretty plain. I added the "woo hoo" and the acetate film strip (LOVE) and then my daughters suggested some stars (of course!)

I tried to capture the shine of the silver foil and the acetate but it wasn't super cooperating. Take it from me that these cards really shine in real life!
