Hi there! I hope you are having a great day! I know I am because it is WORLD CARDMAKING DAY!!!
As an avid cardmaker - I adore this day! It is always so much fun to see all the talented cardmakers out there! Well - today I thought it would be fun to do a little tutorial for you on how to make a Shaker Card! These have become quite my obsession lately and I am always on the hunt for fun things to put inside my shaker cards! Let me know in the comments what your favorite thing to put inside shaker cards!
I'm giving you a little sneak peek of the adorable new "Pumpkin Spice" collection with my card today - oh boy you guys! This collection is so, so CUTE! I can't wait to work with it some more this month! Here is the card I will be showing you how to make and some close-ups!
Alright - let's get to the tutorial!
- 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inch cardstock card base
- 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inch Maple Textured Cardstock
- 4 x 5 1/4 inch Marigold Textured Cardstock
- 3 3/4 x 5-inch Pumpkin Spice 12x12 Pattern Paper - gingham side
- 31/4 x 3 1/4 inch piece of Acetate
- Foam Tape- (I got mine at Hobby Lobby- I really like the height on this tape and that it is a thin strip)
- 2 5/8 inch Metal Circle Die
- 3-inch Metal Circle Die
- Washi Tape
- Manual Die Cutting Machine
- Foam Tape
- Sequins, Confetti or Glitter - whatever you'd like to put inside your shaker
- Rocky Racoon Doodlepop
- Chit Chat Die Cuts - I used the "Hello Autumn" speech bubble
- "Happy Fall" Shape Sprinkles
- Basic Supplies like scissors, paper trimmer, adhesive, and double-sided tape.
Now we are going to add our foam tape. It's not pictured, but go ahead and add your foam tape all around the Marigold orange circle. Make sure that there are no gaps in your foam tape. This part is important so that our goodies in the shaker card don't fall out! Add foam tape to the rest of the card as shown below. Be careful not to put any of the foam tape all the way to the edge because the paper we are going to be putting over the top of this piece does not go all the way to the edge. You can now move the Marigold circle out of the way.
