MY HAPPY PLACE CARDS | with Karen

One of the really hard things about being a teacher are June good-byes. Up here in Canada, school runs until the end of June, so much of the month is spent on farewells, many for our students, but also to many of our colleagues who are moving on to different positions next school year.

The good news is that Doodlebug's introduction of the "My Happy Place" collection has me saying a gleeful "Well hello there"! Not only is it a bright, fun collection filled with icons and characters I love, but it is so versatile that you can create every kind of project you can imagine!

All-cards-end

I decided to start by tackling some "best wishes" cards for my colleagues.

Odds-and-Ends

I created some with a "growth" theme, using the adorable plant shaped die cuts in the Odds and Ends pack. But adding some foam adhesive squares on that back, I created a bit more definition and layers on the cards for a bit of pop! For one of the retirement cards, I utilized one of the arm chair objects, and the van made the perfect focal point for a card celebrating new adventures. I love that each card, while still similar in sentiment, is as unique as each recipient.

Washi-tape

And given that many staff members will be signing the cards, I decided to add extra pages on the inside, using some of the washi tape to decorate the last page and a coordinating envelope (which I happened to forget to photograph). While it would have worked just to create a larger card, I happen to be a fan of the scale of A2 cards (and the fact that extra pages means space for extra embellishments)! :)

Full-set

While I have a few more cards to go, I am loving my first dip into this new collection. And spending the summer crafting with it is another thing to look forward to in a few short weeks! Hello summer and hello adorable Doodlebug collection! Thanks for stopping by!
