Doodlebug Design Silhouette Cut Files: Foxy Wall Hanging by Jennifer

Hello, Doodlebug fans. I can't tell you how excited I am to be sharing this post with you today. I've always wished I could use the adorable icons from so many of the Doodlebug collections, and now I can with their new Silhouette cutting files.

Even though I created a fox project recently, when I found out I would be working with the Flea Market collection of files, I immediately wanted to use the sweet little fox. He was just too cute to resist!

So using the fox, wheat, and some leaf files, I decided to make a mini wreath.
I wanted the fox to have some dimension, so I put the fox together in sections.  Above you can see how.
  1. The fox file comes with two head layers, but I just used the one without the eyes and nose cut out. Two folds were made on the sides of the face, as shown. The nose was hand cut and glued onto the face. Black sprinkles were applied to the head, as the fox's eyes.
  2. The tail and legs of the fox were cut in three colors. The brown section was cut where indicated, then the pieces were layered to together.
  3. After layering the body of the fox, as shown, all three sections of the fox were mounted to thin chipboard. Hand stitching was applied to each section.
  4. The head was attached to the body. (The glue was just applied to the top and sides of the head, so the head was raised slightly.) The legs and tail were then attached to the back of the body.
Leaves and wheat were cut and layered together. For the wreath, an oval ring was hand cut out of foam core, then wrapped with paper twine. Some of the leaves were stitched and the wheat was given a layer of crystal lacquer. All the pieces, including the fox, were then hot glued to the wreath.
A shaped sticker was mounted to thick chipboard to create the sign. Stitching was applied around the border and leaves were used to embellish. Small holes were made at the top of the sign then jump rings were used to attach the sign to the wreath. To finish off the piece shaped berry sprinkles, jewels, flower stickers, a doodle-pop sticker and feathers were added. Here are more pictures of the finished piece.
Thanks for joining me today - Jennifer :)
