Tuesday Tutorial: Thankful Fortune Cookies

by Stephanie Buice

It is a tradition in our family that at our Thanksgiving dinner we each go around the table and say what we are thankful for. While there are so many things I appreciate about each member of my family I wanted to let them know one main thing about them that I am thankful for. I wanted to do something a bit different this year, so I went to pinterest for some ideas. I found some fortune cookies and just had to find a way to incorporate them in our meal and this is what I came up with... Thankful Fortune Cookies.

Although these took a couple tries to get the hang of, once I got the folds down they came together quickly.

Here's How:

Step 1: Cut out 4.5 inch circles from double sided cardstock (One circle= one cookie). Fold circle in half creasing only the center, do not fold along the entire length.
Step 2: Open your circle and insert thankful message into the cookie center.
Step 3: Push in center of your cooking to form the center fold. Place your adhesive on one side of your crease.
Step 4: Pushing in the center of your cookie continue folding until it's shaped like a fortune cookie. Press together the ends to make them stick together.
Step 5: Make your flags by wrapping double sided cardstock around toothpicks and placing adhesive in the center to hold them together, then add your names. ( I printed mine for lack of enough of each letter but Teensy Type or mini rubons would have been perfect!)

Step 6: Insert flags into the centers of your fortune cookies, positioning them so they will sit flat on each person's plate.

There you have it! These were simple to make, did require many supplies and will add a personal touch to your table making each person feel welcomed, valued and loved. Enjoy and Happy Thanksgiving :)

Supplies: Double sided Cardstock (petite prints)
