HOMETOWN USA DECOR FLAGS | with Niella

Happy June, crafty crew! With Independence Day coming up so fast, it's a good time to prep ahead if you aren't already. So happy to have you visit today to see my super fun project: Decor Flags with Hometown USA! Whether you create these for your crafty projects, food platters, baking or as a topper for your gift hamper; these are fun and easy to create! You can even adapt these ideas for other Doodlebug Design collections as well :-)

For each flag, I've cut a 9" x 2.5" inch strip of white textured cardstock and on top of each, a strip of patterned paper .5" inch less all around,  and machined stitched over the cardstock. This technique gives strength to each flag and helps the eye look towards the patterned papers I feel :-)

I wrapped one edge over a wooden dowel and adhered it with liquid glue or hot glue for faster drying time. These dowels came from my stash with beads on the top. Awesome!

The papers in the Hometown USA collection I've used in my introduction photo are: Top, Polka-dot Pride, All American and bottom, Plaid to be American. Such cute and fitting names, right! So super darling!

Decorating each was so fun! I like to start by laying down the base pieces, then build on them by adding foam squares behind the Odds & Ends ephemera pieces. I also love to add elements on the back side of projects as well. This gives more dimension. That fantastic bunting piece is from the Chit Chat ephemera pack! It suits perfectly!

Don't be afraid to use the icon and mini icons too. I simply added foam on the back of each and glued down, I especially like using the icon stickers because they are smaller and you can fit more on! Plus they always look extra cute!

Those firework flourishes are so well suited to these embellishments! They give that extra detail that this project needed. How sweet do they look behind Lady of Liberty!

BONUS: If you've made it to the end of this blog post, you can watch me showcase these!

Thank you crafty crew for flying by today! I hope I gave you a crafty hit of inspiration! Don't forget to tag us in on your socials - we're looking forward to seeing your next Doodlebug Design project! Until next time; doodle dee!

HOMETOWN USA TRAVELERS NOTEBOOK SPREADS | with Tya

Have you ever tried a different page size than you normally do and fall completely in love with it? That is what happened to me when I tried a new format to my memory keeping! I love these Travelers Notebook size pages (mine measure about 4 1/2 x 8 1/8 inches)! My scrapbooking time is limited in the summer with all the activities going on and so this quick and easy style is right up my alley! Today I have 2 of these spreads to show you highlighting some fun 4th of July memories using the new Hometown USA collection.

My first page is a pocket page that I divided  using my Fuse tool. I wanted my 4x4 inch photo to be in the center, and then I used my Fuse tool to make the 2 x 4 1/2 inch sections on the top and the bottom.

I filled my bottom little pocket with the Festive Firework Acetate. I then filled it with the super cute Land that I Love Shakers, the Silver ball Shakers and some glitter and tinsel from my stash. This makes for a interesting interactive element to my page. Look at all that sparkle and shine!

The next page I made into a pocket that holds more photos of our fun night watching fireworks. Along the top I layered some of the adorable firework and star die cuts from the Odds and Ends ephemera. I also added a tag from the Chit Chat and added the Uncle Sam die cut to the front. I love how he is just peeking up from behind the title of the page. I added some red, white and blue Doodle twine to the top of my tag for more festive fun!

My July 4th title is from the Chit Chat and it sits on top of my journaling block. More decorating was done with some Puffy Stickers.

My next spread is a fun one and my photo matched perfectly with the Patriotic Puppy Doodle Pop- so I had to use it !

A smattering of embellishments decorate this top section - lots of stickers, and ephemera from the Odds and Ends and Chit Chat were used.

The papers in this collection are so pretty as you can see on this page which also features my journaling. The silver is a great touch ! (Even if its a little hard to photograph :) )

I hope that these 2 festive spreads make you so excited for the upcoming 4th of July Holiday! It is my favorite holiday and I loved getting to work with this amazing collection! Also- I hope I have inspired you to try a different size of layout than you normally do, you may just fall in love with it like I did! Have the best day crafty friends, and we will see you next time!!

HOMETOWN USA FATHER'S DAY GIFT | with Miguel

Here in Mexico in the month of July we celebrate Father's Day so I decided to make a nice gift to inspire you and give more versatility to your Doodlebug collections.

I used the Hometown USA collection to create my project, it is a beautiful box to give away canned drinks, the box is made with Chipboard and Heavyweight Acetate. I love the result.

The transparency that the acetate gives it makes it very original since the cans can be removed without having to open the box, it is decorated with Odds & Ends and Washi Tape.

I also decided that I would make a fun card with the coordinating Cards & Envelopes to wish dad all the best on his day.

I hope you liked it as much as I did, See you soon.
