OVER THE RAINBOW LEPRECHAUN CANDY HUGGERS | with Kathy

St. Patrick's Day is this Friday, and I'm all set with some fun little Leprechaun candy Huggers!  These would be so fun to give to friends & family or as a classroom treat.  Take a peek....

I started with the fun Gnomies Doodle Cut Dies and papers from the Over the Rainbow Collection.  I turned my gnomes into Leprechauns simply by dressing them in some of the green papers from the collection.  I altered the die cuts slightly to give them longer arms to hug the chocolate kisses.  Below, I've outlined the steps I took to make them...

To start, I cut the pieces of the gnome as shown above.  I cut a 3/16" x 6" strip of the Lucky Me shamrock paper from the 6x6 pad and a small piece of black for the eyes and mouth.  I also cut another gnome body from the back side of the Lucky Me paper.  I like to do this if I'm using a double sided paper so that I can cover the back and give it a cleaner look.

Next.  I added the black piece to the back of the main Leprechaun body behind the eyes and mouth.
I covered the whole back with the extra gnome body.  I kept the eye and mouth cut outs and glued them in the openings to make it look solid.

I flipped the gnome cut out to the front side.  I cut just the legs portion of the main body piece from the sprinkles of color paper in the 6x6 pad so that I could give him some colorful stockings.  Next I glued on his shirt, cuffs, belt, buckle and shoes.  Once he was assembled to this point I snipped off his arms (cruel, I know, but I promise, he was ok....)  I then added his beard, hat, nose and eyebrows.
I flipped him back over to the back side, centered the long strip along where his arms were and glued it to the back of the body.  Now when you flip him over, he has extra long arms to hold a treat!
I added a glue dot to his body, to hold the kiss, wrapped his arms around the kiss and glued them together.  To complete, I added his little hands with the cuffs attached to make it look like he was hugging the kiss!

For the girl leprechaun, the process was basically the same.  Here are some close-ups of each of my leprechauns...

I hope these little cuties bring you some luck this St. Patrick's Day!  That's all for me today, thanks for stopping by to peek!
