HIPPITY HOPPITY EASTER EXPLOSION BOX | with Shellye

Hooray, Spring is on the way!  Today I'm sharing my version of the very popular "exploding" box album.  These are double-the-fun because you can also use the inside for little treats or wrapped candies!

I started with two sheets of Doodlebug cardstock: bubblegum and bumble bee.  I left the bubblegum sheet 12X12 and scored at 3" and 9"; turned 90 degrees and scored at 3" and 9" again. Next, I cut the sides as shown below:

With the paper facing me (as shown above), I glued the bottom left flap to the bottom center flap.  Next, I turned the paper 90 degrees and repeated the process until the four flaps were all glued to the adjacent flap.  You will end up with a + sign.  You could cut away the flaps instead of gluing, but I wanted to make the sides extra sturdy.

I cut mats of paper to 2.5"X2.5" and added them to the outer-sides of the flaps.  I also corner rounded the top edges for a cleaner look.  The panels were then embellished with die-cuts, stickers, sprinkles and Doodle-Pops!

For the lid: I cut a 6.25" X 6.25" piece of patterned paper and scored 1" around all four sides.  The edges were folded to create the lip of the box.  I used the scallop border die to add a little decoration around the edge.

Moving to the inside of the box: I cut a smaller piece from the bumblee cardstock.  I trimmed it down to 10"X10" and scored at 3 1/3".  Because this is an unusual scoring mark, I rotated the paper to score the three additional marks.  This helped to keep all of the scoring even!

I repeated the same cutting of the flaps as I did wit the bubblegum paper above.  Finally, I adhered the middle of the bumble bee paper to the center of the bubblegum paper.  The flaps were all embellished with mats of 6X6 papers trimmed to 3X3, washi tapes, stickers and enamels!

Around the inner flaps of the bubblegum paper, I made pocket sleeves and then added die-cut tags using the Doodle Cuts Large Tags die set!  I'm also thinking that smaller versions would look so sweet tucked into Easter baskets...OR, add a handle in some way and use IT as a basket.  Great for table place settings or happy mail :)Thanks for joining!
