Off the Page Challenge: Candy Bar Sliders by Karen Hanson

Good morning Doodlebug fans! It's Karen, and today I am so excited to share an project for the design team's Off the Page challenge. While I have to admit that scrapbooking holds a dear place in my heart, I really do love creating all sorts of paper projects, so I was so excited to create a project for this challenge. And given all the cute new product that has made it's way to shelves this year from Doodlebug, this project had fun written all over it!

Now I do have to admit that this project - Candy bar sliders (or chocolate bar sliders as we call them up here in Canada) - are not new for me. I make these a lot! The are perfect little giveaways at birthday parties, but also make great thank-you gifts for friends or teachers or coworkers.
They are as simple as creating a sleeve out of paper that fits around the candy bar you chose (the textured cardstock is my favourite for the sleeve as it is sturdy and will withstand the ribbon being pulled in and out..oh, and the colours are amazing), and then embellishing them up!

I used the adorable Fairy Tales collection for these little thank-you sliders that we gave to the grownups who attended my daughter's birthday party. It has perfect birthday-themed paper that I simply matted with white cardstock... ...created a little coordinating tag with some more cardstock, a piece of patterned paper (Item:5638 - sweet celebration), my favourite mini paperclips and a bit of doodle twine...
...and then topped off with a mix and match cupcake and cones die cut adhered with some foam adhesive for a bit of dimension.
They are simple enough that you can create a whole stack of them at a time to give away when someone around you deserves a little thank-you or perhaps just needs a little smile! Oh, and I guarantee that making them will be just as much fun as giving them away!
So there you have it! When you are itching to make a project that doesn't involve a picture, give these little cuties a go! Because really, the only thing better than chocolate is chocolate wrapped in Doodlebug! Thanks for stopping by! Hugs, Karen
