Cardstock Challenge: Happy, Happy, Happy Cards by Wendy Sue

Hi Doodlebug friends!  It's Wendy Sue here with you today, sharing the project I created for the cardstock challenge our team has been doing over the last few weeks.

One of the things I love about the new Doodlebug Cardstock is that it matches the collections (yes, ALL of them) perfectly!  And one of the GREAT things about that is how all of the coordinating work has already been done by the talented folks at Doodlebug!  I wanted to create a set of cards - generic cards - to have on-hand for various occasions.  I knew basically what I wanted the design to be...now all I had to do was choose the colors.  So I pulled out my handy-dandy catalog and flipped to one of the new collections (this time I chose "Fall Friends").

Sweetheart, Tangerine, Sunshine, Sweet Pea, and Swimming Pool are the colors used in this collection - so I ran with it!

I used my Silhouette machine to cut out the phrase "happy" from each of the colors - actually five times in each color.  The weight of this cardstock is perfect for cutting with the Silhouette - it cut beautifully!

After I cut out the phrases, I placed them on 4"x5 1/4" pieces of vanilla cardstock. I love the subtle texture of the cardstock, and the layered pieces look so pretty.

I guess I cheated a little bit here...but I just can't seem to finish a project without machine stitching...so I added a simple straight stitch around the edge of each vanilla piece.

Finally, I mounted the stitched piece on a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" piece of cardstock (I cut one from each of the five original colors).

To complete the cards, I added the entire piece to 5 card bases created from vanilla cardstock.

I am excited to add these cards to my stash - ready to pull out and use for any occasion.  I always seem to need more masculine cards, and for some reason, I rarely have any ready to go.

So that's my challenge to you - pull some beautiful cardstock colors that coordinates with an existing Doodlebug collection, and create your own project!
