Mix It Up Challenge: Chocolate Bar Sliders by Karen

Hi everyone! It's Karen, and today and I am sharing a bit more Christmas crafting fun! I know that Christmas is almost here, but I just love this time of year and if I could craft for the season all year, I probably would (but I would never get anything else done). In fact, I have done so much Christmas crafting that I am almost out of the adorable Milk and Cookies collection. But fear not - since Doodlebug collections coordinate so well, it's easy to mix it up and make it look perfect for those little last minute treat - like these chocolate bar sliders!
Milk and Cookie
s really is as sweet as it comes. And since Cream and Sugar is as well, it seemed fitting to combine them together. The base for the sliders were made from a combination of 12x12 papers from both collections.
And the Odds and Ends die cuts, which are one of my favorite Doodlebug products to work with, also came from both collections... ...including this cute gingerbread man and oven mitt...
...and this darling cake from Cream and Sugar dressed up with a little mint from Milk and Cookies.
I used Washi tape to tie all of the sliders together and to add my sentiment, and then...a little bit like adding the cherry on top...
...some Ladybug Jewels!
And not that these sliders need to get any sweeter, but hidden inside and revealed with a little pull of the ribbon is a sweet treat for the recipient! I use my Doodlebug products a lot, and I love that even when I am getting low on one collection, I can still pull off amazing projects just by mixing and matching! It's a little bit of Doodlebug Christmas magic! Have a wonderful Christmas and holiday with your families! Thanks for stopping by!

Hugs, Karen

Mix It Up Challenge: Just Chillin Layout by Anita

Hi there happy holidays!!
Anita here with you today so my layout today I’m sharing is of me just chillin on the couch playing around with Snapchat... my girls and I have a bit of fun sending each other funny pictures it does make for a good laugh sometimes..
so with my layout I wanted to use up some of my leftover strips of patterned papers from other layouts I had created and I decided on 2 inched triangles that I mixed up and placed in random spots on my white cardstock.

I ended up with bigger geo triangles
I used hats off odds and ends and patterned paper from kitten smitten , cream and sugar and petite prints

I used the Abigail beetle black alpha stickers for my title

And used some more of the odds and ends from hats off along with some stickers from the hats off collection

I added stitching around each triangle adding more texture and to add a bit more detail I used the frames from the odds and ends and tucked them behind my photo layers along with a doily

At the top of my photo I add a mini heart paper clip and a sticker on a bit of patterned paper that I diecut out

I hope I’ve given you some fun ideas to use up some strips of leftover bit of paper

Mix it Up Challenge: Christmas Village by Mendi

Hello Doodlebugs!  It's Mendi today with one last project for Christmas featuring a mixture of some darling papers from several of my favorite Doodlebug collections.
Doodlebug Design: Christmas Village Houses by Mendi Yoshikawa (using Sizzix Dies & Patterned Papers from various Doodlebug collections).
I have been wanting to create a Christmas village ever since I received these sweet Sizzix Village dies earlier this year.  I knew if I didn't do something with them now they might become buried under a pile of other things on my rapidly growing "someday" list.

Knowing these would take some a bit of time to create and wanting them to last year after year, I started by first cutting my houses from some heavy weight chipboard.  I then cut them again from some of my favorite Doodlebug Petite prints and other small prints from various 6x6 paper pads.  Because of the thickness of the chipboard, I needed to cut my patterned papers apart at the corner seams so that the windows and other openings would line up properly on all four sides.  To get around this, I matched the patterns with a corner piece that I created for each corner using a small piece of paper, scored and folded in half.

To add a fun detail to my roofs, I turned to various scalloped border dies in my stash, cutting them from 1/2" wide strips of patterned paper.  To keep the layers from blending together, I inked each edge with a bit of distress ink using a foam applicator.

One of the die sets come with the pieces to cut the snowy rooftops.  I started by cutting them all from white cardstock and then coated them with a Marvy Uchida Snow Marker.  Before heating them with my heat gun to puff them up and make them look real, I sprinkled them with Doodlebug's Lily White Sugar Coating Glitter.  When heated, the glitter becomes permanently adhered and it left them looking so sparkly and pretty! I completed my houses, with simple wreaths created with a couple metallic pipe cleaners wrapped around a pencil and adhered with a little liquid glue. I love how they added a touch of green and added even more sparkle to my scene!

To complete my scene I picked up some miniature trees and an iridescent garland at my local craft store to act as a filler in the background, while hiding my miniature strand of battery powered lights.

I hope I've inspired you to think outside the box and mix papers from different Doodlebug collections on your next project.  ;) To create my village I mixed the following papers:
Before I go, I would like to thank everyone at Doodlebug for allowing me the sincere pleasure of sharing projects using their adorable products for these past four years.  It has been a dream of mine since I first discovered Doodlebug back in 2003 and I while I must step away for now, I hope to be back again someday soon.  They are truly the best of the best and I feel so fortunate to have been given this opportunity!
