Mix it Up Challenge: Christmas Cards by Courtney Lee

Hello out there! This is Courtney Lee from Court's Crafts here with my final cards on the Doodlebug team. I decided to step down this coming year. With three small children at home I want to be enjoying them more and I think I am getting into quilting! My heart is heavy leaving Doodlebug. They are truly the best company to "work" for as it always feels like play. Cynthea is the most generous person I have ever met in the crafty world and her encouragement along with Lori's keeps me going. I will miss it so. With that said, here are my cards for the mix it up challenge!

Santa down the Chimney
I had such a great time grabbing my supplies from all over the place! I was really in love with this red, green and black palate and so I went diving into my extensive doodlebug stash to find my supplies. :)

A Forth of July line, a Halloween line, and some staples? yes please. This santa going down the chimney from the Milk and Cookies odds and ends had me at hello. I added some liquid adhesive and tinsel glitter and gave Mr. Claus some pizzaz!

milk and cookies: odds and ends (5766)
milk and cookies: this and that (5776)

Merry Christmas
This card was so much fun to put together. Again I wanted to showcase this stocking odds and ends. I added some tinsel glitter to the top mantle and the tops of the stockings. The Merry Christmas sentiment is a sticker that comes pre-made from doodlebug and the little dog came from the mini icons in the milk and cookies collection. The velvet black cardstock gives it a lovely depth.

I had my 5 year old encouraging me when I thought of the idea to cut the gingerbread and candy cane sprinkles and "stuff" them down the stockings. I cut the bottoms off at an angle to make it look like they were going down. It was so hard to do. I kept hearing that gingerbread man from Shrek™ say, "not my buttons! Not my gumdrop buttons!!!" brutal. But alas, it looks darling. tee hee.

Christmas Cake
Last but not least I felt like I was missing some green in my life so I grabbed this 6x6 paper pad from Booville and this fabulous green on green tone paper stood out to me. Isn't it vivid!?! And of course this Christmas cake doodlepop looked good enough to eat.

Look at the depth of that doodle pop? I layered it onto two pieces from the This and That sheet and tied a twine bow around the base. I also added the candy cane stripe arrows to the four corners of the green panel and pulled all three cards together using the black on black houndstooth patterned paper from the kraft in color line (the BEST staples).

And that is all I have for you today! I wish you a VERY merry Christmas and I will miss you all dearly! Luckily you have the BEST design team sticking around to inspire you (and myself). Did you mix and match any doodlebug lines to make Christmas cards this year? We would LOVE to see them! Please share them on any of our social media sites!

Guest Designer: Stephanie Buice Returns

Hi Everyone! Stephanie Buice here today and it is such a pleasure to be back here at Doodlebug as a guest designer. Doodlebug is where I first fell in love with designing for a company and color, lots and lots of color. I was blessed to be on the DT for two years in a row so I'm pretty sure it will always feel like home here to me.

For this guest post I was sent the Kraft in Color Collection and the rainbow of colors pretty much jumped out of the box onto my table. Here is the first layout I made for you today:

Cutest Piggies In All The World:

When I saw all the different colors and patterns in this collection my heart skipped a beat!
I knew I wanted to make my pages bright and cheery.

I cut strips of the papers, and placed them in a horizontal line down my page with my picture near the bottom. I added some Sprinkles and Sequins here and there to add some interest and keep your eye moving through the layout.

The title I wanted to use what way too long for me to place it along the bottom of my picture so I decided to put it to the right. and finished it off with the camera Doodad from the Day to Day collection.

Here is my second layout:
Hello Lovely Girl:
This is one of my favorite pictures of my niece Kimberly and it was calling to be on a page using the Sprinkles Vellum. The colors in the picture really compliment the vellum colors, so bright and cheery.

I cut out different sizes of circles from the vellum and 6x6 paper pad and sewed them together making mini banners.
I lined them up on the top and bottom of the layout using them to frame my picture in the center.

I cut the "hello" from my silhouette and used some watercolor to make it match the colors of my layout.

Here is a final close up of the mini circle banners, I love how it let me fit more bits and pieces on to my page, without taking away from my picture.
Thanks for having me and I hope you liked what I made for  you:)

Monochromatic Cards
by Amanda Coleman

If you are like me, you love having a large assortment of paper in all kinds of colors and patterns. Doodlebug's new Kraft in Color has just that.  Each classic Doodlebug color is paired with both kraft and white and comes in several shades and patterns.  I mixed and matched patterns and embellishments to create a couple of bright and fun monochromatic cards.

Both of these cards were created using journaling cards from the Kraft in Color collection.  I trimmed this orange journaling card into a banner shape and made it the focus of the card.

Each container of sequins has 6 different colors and three different finishes.  These sequins are a metallic, pearlescent and opaque.  Aren't they lovely?

More colorful sequins and a swiss dot vellum overlay.  Doodlebug's swiss dot vellum comes in all colors of the rainbow.  It is seriously awesome stuff!

I fussy cut the sentiment from a journaling card and paired it with a bunch of different yellow prints and patterns.  This is a happy card, indeed!

More colorful sequins and swiss dot vellum.  I love the various shades of yellow in the Kraft in Color collection.

The yellow polka dots on kraft is my favorite Kraft in Color pattern.  The yellow dots look stunning against a kraft background.

Have a colorful day!

Amanda

Bumblebee Bouquet Card
by Courtney Lee

Good day to you! This is Courtney from Court's Crafts here with a very springy birthday shaped card!

The new Kraft in Color collection.... what can I say... I. LOVE. IT! The patterns are awesome. The colors are perfect. There is neither too much white nor just one pattern (like polka dots). There is so much variability. If I could tell any crafter - especially beginners - to buy just one (well two) collections it would be Kraft in Color - Color and Kraft in Color - Kraft. Both collections are equally amazing. Get both! Trust me!

I used both 6x6 pads to create this card. There are 7 patterned papers on this card along with sprinkled vellum for the bee wings.

I wanted to add some sparkle so I used some liquid glue around the edges of the butterflies and ran the crown through my Xyron sticker maker and glittered away!

I used a lot of dimension on this card and had a great time with it! The sprinkles vellum is popped up on the big bee to give it a fun wing effect.

I finished it off with a happy birthday sticker that conveniently matched the bee wings. I LOVE how doodlebug cares so much about coordinating colors across collections!

Thanks for taking a peek at my project and I hope you have a beautiful day!

Kraft in Color: Insta-Love Mini Album by Kathy

Hi Everyone... it's Kathy today with a fun mini album I created using Doodlebug's new Kraft in Color collection.  I think this just might be one of my all time FAVORITE collections!  I've always been a fan of Kraft and mixing that with Doodlebug's bright and cheery colors is just pure genius!  Add in the yummy washi tapes, vellum and sequins....I'm swooning!

If you're like me you have about a million photos on your phone.  I decided to take my favorites shared in Instagram and create a mini album.  Using an SVG file I purchased recently I created a fun Insta-camera cover.  Take a peek...

The lenses were created using some Lily White Sprinkles Vellum and a couple of mini jewels.  I made the rainbow portion of the camera using some of the washi tapes from the new Chevron Washi Assortment.  I love the thin washi!  Now for the hard part...picking just one picture to represent each month!

All of the background papers were taken from the Kraft in Color 6x6 pads.  I mixed them with some stickers and elements from a few other collections including Take Note and Flowerpot.  I love the new Arrows Sprinkles....they're awesome!!

All of my journaling was printed on the grid side of the Blue Jean Chevron/Grid Paper.

Such a fun mini to put together!  I thought it would take me forever, but the fact that all of Doodlebug's products mix and match just made it a breeze!  Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Kraft in Color: Two Fun, Whimsical Layouts

Happy Together
by Tya Smith

Hi there Doodlebug fans - Tya here to share with you my layout that I did using my FAVORITE new Doodlebug line - Kraft in Color! I have long had a love affair with anything Kraft paper related - add all the yummy Doodlebug colors to kraft - I have never had a line that was so ME!  I love how versatile this line is - any color that you have - this line has a paper to go with it from the brights like I did on my layout - to pretty pastels and jewel tones as well. One of my favorite components of the line is the new Arrow Sprinkles that come in every beautiful Doodlebug color palate. They add great dimension to my layout and I love the shine that they have.
Thank so much for stopping by today! Pick up some new Kraft in Color today to bring that special photo to vivid, colorful life!

SEWN CIRCLE LAYOUT
by Sharm

Hello! hello! Today I'd like to share with you a layout made using the Kraft in Color collection that is part of Doodlebug Designs' winter release. The layout was put together using my trusted silhouette cameo, some stitching and of course the lovely sequins by Doodlebug! The sequins are pretty awesome! each bottle contains ombre coloured sequins and they are perfect! The papers with their coordinating patterns are great to work with too!

What I did was to cut out the bubble like pattern that's used for the background, from my cameo. Then, the circles that were left behind were flipped over to reveal the coordinating pattern of the patterned paper I used for the bubbles. I then stuck them slightly away from the empty bubble to create more layers. I hope I'm not confusing you here lol!!

The complete layout

I created little tab pages to layer the photo on

Some sequins at the corners and stitching

Little Leprechaun Layout by Jodi

Top of the Mornin' to ye all! Jodi, here today to bring you a little Irish spirit!  St. Patricks Day is one of my favorite holidays, my kids love dressing up like little leprechauns, and it also usually means Spring is on its way!  Today, I thought I would share a fun layout I created using the Kraft in Color Collection! This collection is AMAZING! It is by far the most versatile line, and I love that it incorporates all the colors with the Kraft! It really makes the colors pop! On top of that it is so easy to pull colors to match your layout, that you could scrapbook almost anything with this collection!

Here is the Little Leprechaun layout:

I primarily stuck to the Kraft as the background, mixing in some green and yellow from the patterned paper from this collection. I added a washi tape border and added some die cut shamrocks too, to enhance the theme of the layout:

For the top I added some banners cut in various lengths and widths to fill in some empty space, and add more interest to the layout and added a twine border on three sides of the layout:

And finally, I KNEW I wanted to use the sequins from the moment I got them to create a rainbow of sparkle! To create the rainbow I started with a semi-circle that fit the space, then I lightly traced the curve. I then added the ladybug sequins over top of the traced curve. I then continued following the curve and following the colors of the rainbow.  I then die cut a pop of gold to finish off the rainbow!

Thanks for letting me share today!
