BEE HAPPY SWEET SUMMER LAYOUT | with Traci

Hello crafters! Traci here and today, I'm sharing a 12x12 scrapbook page I made with the adorable new Bee Happy Collection. This one layout has space for 5-6 photos so there's plenty of room for your memories of friends, family, gardening, and fun everyday moments.

I love this collection so much. It has fun little bees, flowers, and bee-utiful summer colors! To make it, I started with lily white cardstock as the base. I added the Sweet as Honey polka dot print on the top half and the Sewing Bee plaid on the bottom. Then between the two patterns, I added a thin strip of petite prints plaid in limeade and a scalloped border sticker from the This & That sheet.

Next, I made two photo mats out of beetle black card stock and the Bee Happy honeycomb paper. Then, using a 2" scallop circle punch and a 1 3/4" circle punch by Marvy Uchida, I created a cute journaling spot / photo mat.

Time for some embellishments! I used stickers from the This & That and die cuts from All The Things. I love that this mini collection has the images and words all in one handy dandy package. So convenient!

At the bottom of the page, I made three square photo mats using black card stock and the petite prints candy stripe and sprinkles in swimming pool.

How cute is the little bee napping in the hammock made of a leaf and flowers? Now that's a great way to enjoy a warm summer day! 😉  I hope this 12x12 Sweet Summer Scrapbook Page inspires you to create something wonderful with the fabulous new Bee Happy Collection.

If you'd like a more guided project, I will have a 6-page scrapbook layout kit in my shop on Friday that will include this design. It's perfect for spring and summer memories. Happy scrappin'!

Sweet Summer | Sweet Summer Layout by Tya

Who else is so excited for summer? I love the warmer weather, the trips to the pool, and most of all the yummy summer foods we get to eat. We have the BEST shaved ice shack close to our house and we find ourselves there several times a week to get our fruity fix!  The Sweet Summer collection was just perfect for recording this special memory. I loved all the fruit icons in the collection and had to make a layout of  my daughter and niece enjoying their treat.
Here are some close ups:

The colors of this collection were just perfect! I loved the bright pinks! I love layering different pattern papers throughout my layouts. Placing my photo on a banner right in the center really makes it the first thing you look at , and that is just what I wanted! I love when my photos can take center stage :)  Thank you so much for stopping by today and I hope I have inspired you to go grab a shaved ice, and create a layout! You won't regret it! Happy Crafting!

Alphabet Challenge: Rainbow of Colour by Melinda

Red and Yellow and Pink and Green,
Purple and Orange and Blue,
I can sing a rainbow,
Sing a rainbow,
Sing a rainbow too!

A love for the colours of the rainbow is almost a pre-requisite when designing for Doodlebug and having a rainbow song stuck in your head whilst you are crafting is a regular occurrence too. It's Melinda with you today and I'm sharing a colourful take on this week's challenge to use 'alphas in a creative way'.

I've had this design roughly scribbled into my sketch pad for a very long time and finally I was able to put the plan into action. I just hadn't thought about what title I was going to use until I started looking through the embellishments and I came across the little yellow moon and everything fell into place. And lucky for me, I had exactly the right amount of rows to make it work!

First step was to measure out even spaces for each row and then apply the washi tape across the cardstock and trim off an even amount on each side.

Next step was to work out a balanced position for the photos and positioning each word next to each pic. There was a bit of moving around before I was happy with the combination.

One of the best ways to use your alpha stash is to choose different colours and designs for each word as it lessens the risk of running low on a particular letter before you finish your title... and how often has everyone run into that trap? Yes, I'm lifting my hand high!

Then for the fun stuff... embellishing! I always position the largest pieces first and fill all the little gaps with the smallest bits and bobs. And believe me, my desk ends up in a huge mess but it's heaps of fun.

Don't forget to visit yesterdays blog post to find out details on the alpha give-away... you don't want to miss this one! Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend.
