Washi Tape Challenge: Customizing Your Layouts

Hi everyone, Stephanie here today with my Washi Tape layout.
I love finding new ways to incorporate it into my craft projects and layouts are no exception, hope you like the one I have for you today.

Have you ever made a layout, gotten all the way to the title then hit a wall? Perhaps because you don't like any of the stickers or fonts you have, or they simply just don't match?? Well then this wash tape trick is for you!
True Friends Forever:

I had the design for this layout in mind and got right to work cutting everything and sizing things up. This layout came together quickly and I was in such a zone that I didn't really think it through too much and just went with it. Not that flying by the seat of my pants is really different for me anyways, it's just how I scrap.
It came time for me to add my title and then it hit me that I was stuck. I had used the Chipppers for the main part of my title but they just didn't look right underneath of it and nothing else I had really matched. Then it hit me...washi tape!

This trick was pretty easy, I just covered the part of my paper I was going to be cutting with matching tapes and then ran it through my silhouette. Done!

I had my finish touch of a matching word! So next time you are stuck on the fly and need that perfect piece break out your washi stash and put it to work for you!
Thanks for stopping by today!
Stephanie

Washi Tape Challenge: Card Set by Kathy Skou

Hi Everyone!  It's Kathy today with some fun cards I made featuring Doodlebug's Washi Tapes.  I must admit, I have a bit of a hoarding problem when it comes to Washi...I can't resist it!  It's the perfect addition to any project!  Take a peek...

For my first card, I used some Swiss Dot Washi Tapes to create a banner rainbow.  I first put the tape on some Lily White Cardstock, then cut the banner pieces to make the colors pop a bit more.

My next card was really simple to put together.  I folded some Washi over a piece of Doodlebug Twine, and trimmed to make banner pieces.

Finally, I used some leftover flowers from my recent Inspired by layout to create a little bouquet for my card.  I made the flowers by first covering some Lily White Cardstock with the different Washi Tapes, and then running them through my Big Shot with some thin metal flower dies.
Some bright and cheery cards to warm me up for these very snowy winter days!  Make sure to stop by the Doodlebug Blog over the next couple of weeks for more Washi Tape inspiration!  That's it for me today, thanks for stopping by!

Washi Tape Challenge: Birthday Centerpiece by Jennifer Beason

Hello Doodlebug fans!  Jennifer here with my take on the washi tape challenge. I know washi tape has been around forever, but to be honest, I haven't really done much with, it until now. Since I have a couple of birthday's coming up this month. I decide to combine the challenge with a birthday centerpiece, I was planning to make.
Rainbow Stripe and Swiss Dot washi tapes, were used along with some Pixies and stickers to create fancy birthday flags.
Here you can see, I used an assortment of Candy Stripe tapes to outline the star on the lion's balancing ball.
  • To create the ball, a 3" paper mache ball was painted teal.
  • A star was then cut out of patterned paper and mod podged onto the ball.
  • Next, each point of the star was outlined with a different colored tape. Mod podge was used to seal.
  • Once the ball was dry, I used a low tack tape to mask off the star.
  • The rest of the ball was covered with glue and glitter was applied.
  • When the ball was dry, I removed the mask.
  • Next, some twine was glued around the edge of the star.
  • A chipboard star and button were then glued to the center of the star to embellish.
  • Mod Podge was used to seal the entire ball.
Here are a few more close ups of the finished project.
The lion's head was made out of chipboard and his body from a Christmas ornament.
Small vinyl letters and the number three were added to a chipboard circle to personalize.
A wood box was used for the base of the project. Lots of fun patterned papers and stickers from the Hello Sunshine collection were used to cover and embellish the box.
Hope you have enjoyed my take on the washi challenge. Jennifer
