SUMMER FUN - SUMMER FUN & SUN LAYOUT | with Tarrah

If you love sunshine, smiles, and everything cute under the sea, today's layout is for you! A vibrant and joy-filled layout created using the Summer Fun collection along with a cut file.

At first glance, this layout screams happy summer vibes! Centered around a sweet photo moment by the beach, the design is brought to life with bold colors, playful embellishments, and a perfect blend of patterns and textures.

I love the papers from the Summer Fun collection. Each word in the cut file is backed with a different paper design, creating a playful, dimensional look. Under the cut file I added some blue mixed media, I love how it makes it the cut file pop off the white background cardstock. I layered one of the papers from the 6' x 8' paper pad under my photo.

I trimmed down the white cardstock and adhered it to the Beach Picnic patterned paper. The cut file is popped up using foam adhesive, I love how this creates shadows and dimension. The animals in this collection are absolutely adorable, on this layout I have added dolphins, jelly fish, sea horses, octopus, fish and a chameleon!

With the embellishing I added some with a tone on tone look and some not tone on tone, the gorgeous, bright colors just had to be added as much as possible on my layout! I added a sub title taking the words Summer Awaits from the Chit Chat pack and adhering them using foam adhesive at the bottom of the cut file.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope this inspires you to dive into your summer memories and get creative with our newest release! Happy creating!

SUMMER FUN SHADOW BOX | with Miguel

Summer moments are magical and unforgettable, so I decided to create this shadow box with a beautiful photograph of an afternoon by the pool, giving it color and life with Doodlebug's beautiful Summer Fun collection.

For this composition, I cut several pieces of paper from the collection and made small rolls to incorporate them once I had prepared my base with cardstock and the wave acetate.

I previously painted a wooden frame with blue acrylic paint to give it that summer color.

Then I added my photo and started putting together my composition with Doodle-pops, shape sprinkles, and chit chat. I loved the result because it gave me a 3D effect, making it look more real.

Thanks for reading. See you soon.

SUMMER FUN GIFT CARD HOLDERS | with Karen

Good morning Doodlebug fans! I have some more Summer Fun inspiration for you today. Today's project was actually inspired by a video that came across my social media feed about a pretty way to wrap a box. I just loved the way the top of the box looked in the video and wanted to see if I could recreate the style for a little gift card holder made with Doodlebug paper.

These little pockets could hold anything from a gift card to stationary to thin treats! I am actually planning on using these to hold some thank-you notes and a gift card tucked into the pockets. Overlapping Water Babies, Seashells by the Seashore, Gull Friends and Beach Towel 12x12 papers form the base of the pockets.

And then to embellish the pockets, I used a variety of die Cuts from the Summer Fun Chit Chat, Odds & Ends and Bits & Pieces packs tucked into each layer and then glued in place.

Some adorable Doodle Twine in Limeade, Swimming Pool and Bubblegum were wrapped and tied for some texture, and then I added a couple of Mini Doilies back-to back in the back pocket to create a little shape on the top.

Finally, I added a few Sprinkles from the Summer Assortment and a couple of Mini Paperclips in Tangerine and Blue Jean. I just love that you can fill each section to your hearts content - love all the die cuts?! Tuck them in! A fan of all the tags? Use them up! The more you add, the more textured and interesting the pockets become! I think I will be making different versions of these in the future!

Oh, and you can too because there is nothing hard about this project at all! Check it out:

  1. Start with two strips of paper 4" x 12". Score both along the long edge at the 4" and 8" mark.
  2. Take the outside top corners and fold them down. use a bone folder if you have one to get a tight fold. Repeat with your second strip.
  3. Using one strip of paper, fold in the two sides and then place it down on top of the second strip about 1/2" from the bottom.
  4. Fold the sides from strip 2 over top and then glue along the bottom edge to hold everything in place. Embellish them up to your heart's content.

    That's it! Really!

I love that you could alter the dimensions on these and end up with a different look. Or if you are a fan of showing off all the Doodlebug patterns, add another layer! these would look really cute on a scrapbook paper to to hold a little keepsake! I can only imagine all the creative things you will do with the idea and we can't wait to see them! Thanks for stopping by! Hugs,

SUMMER FUN - ENJOY SUNNY DAYS LAYOUT | with Nathalie

Summer is coming to an end! Thankfully we have all the memories of sunny days and adventures, and the beautiful Summer Fun collection to create the right keepsakes with these memories. All the colors and designs in the collection are just perfect for this.  Let me show you what I have created:

Lots of color and texture to bring the feel of a day in the pool for this layout.    The waves in the pool in the picture were the inspiration for my page.

I am using Petite Prints for the base of my page;  this was trimmed by 1/2"and all sides and framed with the Beach Towel paper.  I added  the scalloped strips from the Cardstock Stickers to the top and bottom of  the base, then tore strips from the Water Babies paper -to create waves- and adhere them  in an overlapping pattern on the base.

The space between the "waves"-paper strips- was the right spot to bring embellishment and fun to the page.   I added pieces from the Odds & Ends, Mini Icon Stickers, Puffy stickers on the outer edges of the strips, then decided to attach my photo.

I backed the photo with papers from the 6x8 paper pad before placing it on the layout.  I added a few pieces of Chit Chat, cardstock stickers, and one of the Doodle-pop cameras to the top right corner of the photo.

To finish my page, I combined pieces from Chit Chat, Word Puffy Stickers, and Odds & Ends to create the title at the bottom of the photo; then added a few Sprinkles through the clusters on the page.

I love how this turned out, and I hope it inspires you to get your Summer memories documented.   Make sure you share with us what you create with the beautiful Summer Fun collection  XO

SUMMER FUN - UNDER THE SEA SNOW GLOBE | with Kathy

I've been waiting for the perfect collection to create my DIY Snow Globe, and  Summer Fun was the one!  I knew that all of the cute sea critters swimming around would make the cutest globe!  Take a peek...

I had so many ideas, I decided to add elements outside of the Snow Globe too!  To start my project, I cut some Kraft Candy Stripe/Sprinkles Petite Prints to cover the base of the globe.  I added a few sand mounds and plants that I cut using the Adora-bowl Doodle Cuts.  I then decorated my ocean bottom with the cute little crab and blue fish from the Icon Stickers along with a few Puffy Icon shells.

For the inside of my globe, I cut a couple of layers of the waves paper (b-side of the water babies paper)  I also added some of the Kraft Petite Prints for more sand.  I popped the layers with a few strips of foam tape to give it more dimension. I used the Aloha! Doodle Cuts to cut some larger plants.

The jelly fish, seahorse and all of the fishies are from the Icon Sticker Sheet.  I added some foam dots behind many of them to make them seem like they were floating.  I also used some summer splash and sweet shells shaped sprinkles.

Finally I filled the bottom of my snow globe with some swimming pool and bitty bubbles shakers. Here's one more photo to show you the layers and dimension.

I love it when completed projects look like what you imagined!  That's it for me today, thank you for stopping by to peek!

SUMMER FUN THIS IS PARADISE MINI ALBUM | with Conny

Hello Crafty Friends, It’s Conny here from The Daily Life of Creativity with another bright and happy project using the Doodlebug Design Summer Fun Collection. Today I’m sharing a mini album/journal bound with the Multi Cinch Machine and Spiral Binding Wire. This project is perfect for capturing those sunny beach memories!

I started by cutting two chipboard pieces to 5 ½” x 8 ¼”. To cover them, I used two pieces of cardstock measuring 7 1/8” x 10”: Pink Paradise (Paper #8931) and Summer Fun . I centered enter the chipboard on the paper, leaving about ¾” all around. I then mitered the corners with my bookbinding tool, added double-sided adhesive, and wrapped the paper neatly around the chipboard.

For the inside covers, I used Water Babies paper cut to 8 ¼” x 5 ½”. Using the Cinch Machine, I punched holes and added the spiral binding to hold everything together. My album has 16–18 pages inside, but you can add fewer if you like. Some pages are fully decorated, while others are left open for larger photos.

The base pages measure 8 ¼” x 5 ½”. I used a mix of Polka Dot Bikini, Seashells by the Seashore, Flamazing Flock, and cardstock from the Summer Fun Textured Cardstock Assortment Pack.  Inside, I included Tags from Beach Picnic and Summer School Cut Apart Cards. I also added pockets, journaling spots, and interactive tags so you can tuck in extra memories. Stickers, die cuts, and Doodle-Pops like the lobster and sandcastle add dimension and fun to every page.

This cheerful mini album is perfect for recording vacations, summer adventures, or beach days, and it’s so fun to make! With love,

SUMMER FUN JUNK JOURNAL | with Jen

I love junk journals. I've done lots with old Little Golden Books and other things, they're so freeing. You can do whatever you want and whatever feels right in the moment. So for this week's project I decided to decided to push myself and do a different kind of junk journal with my scraps and leftover ephemera.

I made my cover from some leftover Summer Fun Acetate. I cut it to 7" x 12" and scored it at 5 1/2" and 6 1/2". I punched holes on the top and bottom and added elastic cord. On the front I used stickers from the This and That sticker sheet. At the top I used my Tiny Attacher to add some pieces from the Odds and Ends and Bits and Pieces. I also added a traveler's notebook style closure with some more of the elastic cord.

Inside are two signatures. For the base of each signature I used leftover papers (Let's Luau and Paradise Palms). Inside I used the Summer Card and Envelope pack to make the pages of each signature. The envelopes work great as pockets. Most of the envelopes I fold in half so half the envelope is on one side and half is on the other.

As a small, but fun, decoration on some of the envelopes I used the new Flamazing Doodle Stamps, as well as Sea Life and Seaside Summer Doodle Stamps in places. I just thought it was a fun way to use those stamp sets.

To finish things, I distressed and inked papers to create pockets and other elements. I used a couple of leftover Doodle Pops and and lots of extra Odds and Ends.

I have a video walkthrough and a short process video of how I put my base and signatures together below.

Have a great day!
