BALLOONS & BANNERS KEEPSAKE ALBUM | with Inessa

There is something extra special about creating a project that you know will become a gift years from now, and this birthday album for my son is exactly that.

I started with the 8x8 Storybook Album in Swimming Pool, and filled it with the Balloons & Banners collection. That mix of blues, greens, oranges, yellows, and teals makes it perfect for birthday boy layouts and pages.

Right now the album goes from his first day in the hospital through thirteen. And each year I want to capture not just photos, but little milestones, memories, and truths I hope he'll hold on to.

I mixed all the page sizes that came with the album—8x8s, 4x6 pockets, and 4x4 pockets. And added plenty of pockets, flips, and flaps for interactivity.

Of course, I piled on texture and dimension with all the adorable embellishments. My favorite part, though, is the plan for what it becomes.

Just like with Lia’s album, my goal is to give this to him on his 18th birthday, complete with little tucked-in gifts like gift cards or cash.

I really love how each page turned out, but even more than that, I love what it represents. A colorful little time capsule of how loved he's been through every stage.

Thanks for looking and have a fabulous day!

BALLOONS & BANNERS BIRTHDAY CARDS | with Karen

I know that birthdays can mean so many different things to different people but for me, birthdays have always been a way of sharing a personal part of me with someone special in my life. I have been making handmade cards for my family members since I was a kid. My dad still has every one that I have ever made. So any time doodlebug comes out with a birthday themed collection, I can't help but smile. There is just something so special to me in making a birthday card.

Balloons and Banners is one of those collections that I know I will be grabbing time and time again. The gender neutral colours and darling icons make this collection a show stopper! For this set of cards, I started by using the Birthday Boy Cards & Envelopes as a base. From there, I trimmed some small pieces from the patterned paper in the 6x8" Paper Pad just to anchor the next layers.

Speaking of next layers, can we talk about the amazing Fancy Frills? These lovely sticker sheets have beautiful trim that you can add in so many different ways. I used them towards the bottom of the patterned paper just to add a pretty detail. This is a product that I know will be a regular on this card-makers supply list!

From there, I just used some foam adhesive to add some die cuts from the Balloons and Banners Odds & Ends pack. I mean come on - how cute and versatile are these shapes? They are perfect for birthdays but are generic enough that you cold use them for all sorts of card and projects! A little sentiment from the Balloons and Banners Chit Chat pack and a few mini jewels finished everything.

I am so excited to add these to my stash of cards! I hope they inspire you to make some birthday cards too! Thanks for stopping by! Hugs!

CUPCAKES & CANDLES STUFFED ENVELOPES | with Niella

Hi crafty friends! Nice to see you all pop by! Today I am so happy you're here so I can show you the latest project I've created with the brand new Cupcakes & Candles collection! I do have a YouTube video tutorial on how I made my own envelopes without a template or die,  I added the link below. And as a bonus, I have a video showcase of today's project at the end of my post as well, so be sure to stay tuned!

For each envelope, I used some of the sweetest papers! Be warned, each pattern is super adorable and you'll be spoil for choice.  I've grabbed the Birthday Bouquet, Sweet Sprinkles and Surprise Party for the outside of the envelopes and then Colorful Confetti, Balloon Banquet and Cute Cakes for the linings.  Darling choices!

Once I built each of my envelopes, the really fun part began...decorating them!  I love to layer and create clusters.  For this I used lots of foam rectangles and pop dots to build dimension and texture.  I find that Doodlebug has the best ephemera packs on the market! Each pack is literally bursting with all the different size pieces you can use on any project! Scrapbooking, cardmaking, home decor, happy mail and the like.  The confetti and banner pieces are adorable! And there you go crafty friends. A fun project for you to recreate!

Thank you again for visiting crafty crew! I hope you found some inspiration today! Please remember to tag Doodlebug Design in your Socials when you create with our products so we can all admire your creativity! We love seeing your creations! Until next time; doodle dee!  Enjoy my video showcase!

CUPCAKES & CANDLES GIFT BAGS | with Karen

I am not sure if I am alone on this, but I have been known to squeal a little bit when Doodlebug releases new product. It just always feel like the new collections are colourful and fun, and never cease to make me smile. There is ALWAYS something a little extra - a product or character or icon that is over the top. And let's just say that the new Wired Pom Pom Boutique Trim is my newest squeal-worthy product!

Together with the adorable Cupcakes and Candles collection, how could a crafter not fall instantly in love? I decided to feature the Wired Pom Pom Boutique trim on some little mini gift bags I created. When my girls were younger, we would always make little treat bags for our guests so I decided to see how these new product would up my game. Doodlebug is making me look good again.

Here's how you can make them too!

  1. Cut a piece of 6x8 paper - I cut down the Balloon Bouquet, Birthday Bouquet and Colorful Confetti 12x12 paper.
  2. On the 6" side, score at the 1" and 5" marks.
  3. Then turn your sheet and across the 8" side, score at the 1", 3.5", 4.5", and 7".
  4. Optional - If you want to reduce the bulk, trim off the sections shown on the Balloon Bouquet paper (the top and bottom left corners).
  5. From the bottom edge trim upward at each score mark to the 1" horizontal score mark.
  6. Using the top 1" score line, fold it back on itself to get the contrasting trim on your little bag.
  7. Then fold and burnish all the other folds inward in the opposite direction. Add some adhesive on the overlapping sides and you are ready to decorate!

To embellish them, I added a little bit of the Fancy Frills around the bottom edge of the top fold. These create a beautiful little scallop without having to worry about having a fancy cutting machine or decorative scissors. And then out came the Wired Pom Pom Boutique Trim. I just love how easy it is to wrap around and the wire helps it stay in place!

Finally, out came he die cuts from the Odds & Ends pack. I kept the theme consistent but there are so many fun icons that you could make each one unique to the guests coming (or let them pick their own).

Fill them with treats or a gift card or anything your heart desires! I think they would make an adorable centerpiece on the table! i hope they inspire you to make some fun favours for your next party!  Thanks for stopping by! Hugs!

CUPCAKES & CANDLES BIRTHDAY CAKE BOX | with Miguel

I was really eager to work with the Cupcakes and Candles collection; it is so colorful, and I fell in love with its birthday designs the moment they were released! Today I used a cartonnage technique to create this birthday cake-shaped box.

To cover the cardboard structure, I used the solid cardstock assortment from the collection along with some of the patterned papers.  I created flaps in the center to hold the birthday person's photo and decorated with puffy words, chit chat, and odds. & ends.  The result is beautiful and so colorful, I love it!

For the top, I made a bow using various ribbons from my stash, and add the new Doodlebug wired pom-pom trim.  Look how beautiful it looks on the bow; it is absolutely adorable!

In the center, there’s a space to add a little gift for that special someone! And it closes with the acetate box I created for that surprise spot!

I’ll sign off as always, hoping my work inspires you to create and make wonderful things with Doodlebug products! See you soon.

CUPCAKES & CANDLES IT'S YOUR BIRTHDAY LAYOUT | with Tarrah

Today I'm sharing a fun and colorful birthday layout created with the absolutely adorable Cupcakes & Candles collection! This collection is bursting with happy colors, playful icons, and the sweetest birthday-themed embellishments, making it perfect for documenting those special milestone celebrations.

For this layout, I wanted to highlight a favorite birthday photo of my niece, so I kept the design focused around one large photograph. The fabulous Sweet Sprinkles patterned paper creates an instant party atmosphere and serves as the perfect backdrop for all the bright embellishments.

To draw attention to the photo, I layered it onto a simple mat and machine stitched a border around the photo.

Down the right side of the layout, I added one of the Fancy Frills in Bumblebee and also some of the cute new Wired Pom Pom trim in Swimming Pool! The texture adds a playful touch and coordinates beautifully with the collection's vibrant color palette.

Down the left side of the photo, I built a vertical embellishment cluster featuring balloons, a party hat, gifts, and birthday sentiments all from the Chit Chat and Odds & Ends packs. This arrangement helps lead the eye through the design while creating a fun storytelling element. Layering the die-cuts and stickers adds depth and makes the page feel full of birthday excitement without overwhelming the photograph.

One of my favorite details is the large "It's Your Birthday" die-cut, this piece acts as my title and it creates a bold focal point and perfectly captures the joy of the occasion. I tucked in a few smaller phrases, including "Let's Party," "Woo Hoo," and "You're Sweet," to add extra charm and personality.

I finished the layout by incorporating gift boxes and floral accents at the bottom of the embellishment cluster, helping balance the design while adding even more pops of color. The result is a page that feels festive, playful, and full of happy birthday memories.

The Cupcakes & Candles Collection makes birthday documenting so easy with its coordinating patterns, cheerful embellishments, and endless layering possibilities. Whether you're celebrating a first birthday, a milestone year, or any special party in between, this collection is sure to make your memories shine.

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope this layout inspires you to pull out your Cupcakes & Candles supplies and celebrate your own sweet birthday memories!

 Happy crafting!

CUPCAKES & CANDLES TIERED CAKE MINI ALBUM | with Kathy

Today I have a mini album using the Cupcakes & Candles collection. I found this adorable mini album tutorial on Instagram and immediately fell in love!   And as soon as I saw the new Make a Wish Doodle Cuts, I knew I wanted to combine the two to create my tiered cake mini album.  Take a peek...

When the album is all folded it looks like a yummy cake on a pretty cake stand! The cover was created with chipboard and covered with the Surprise Party Paper on the outside and a tag from the Hip Hip Hooray paper on the inside.  The inside pages were made from Raspberry cardstock found in the coordinating cardstock pack.

To decorate my cake I used the frosting, flower and cake stand dies from the Make a wish set, along with some lily white glitter cardstock, puffy stickers and the Birthday Bouquet Shaped Sprinkles.  The candles are also from the puffy sticker sheet.

Once untied, the album opens up to a series of alternating layered pages.  I used the puffy words stickers for the Make a wish along the bottom cover.  The pages are decorated with a mixture of papers from the 6x8 pad, Icon and Mini Icon Stickers, This & That Stickers, Odds & Ends, Chit Chat and Bits & Pieces.

And because I believe that everything is more fun when you can see it in action, I created this flip through video.

I hope you've enjoyed my project today, thank you for stopping by to peek!
