HOMETOWN USA FESTIVE FLORAL SHAKER | with Miguel

Without a doubt, Doodle Cuts are one of the many Doodlebug products I love. Especially the shaker versions, since they let you play around with other products. I really enjoy making them and keeping a stash on hand to decorate special projects, though I have to admit they look beautiful all on their own!

I used the "Hometown USA" solid assortment to die cut all the pieces, and I also cut the shaker frame from foam to create the 3D depth needed to hold the shaker filling—for which I used a mix of colors this time.

Another product I recommend using are Shape Sprinkles.  They add an impressive shine to projects, making them more eye-catching and special—especially since all Doodlebug products coordinate perfectly.

Here are some photos of the materials used for this piece. I hope you find them really useful when creating. Thanks for stopping by! See you soon.

COLOR ME CRAFTY SHAKER STYLE LANYARD TAGS | with Conny

Hello crafty friends! It’s Conny here from The Daily Life of Creativity, and today I’m sharing these adorable Crafty Lanyard Tags created with the gorgeous new Color Me Happy collection from Doodlebug Design. I was so inspired by this collection that I couldn’t resist creating these fun shaker-style lanyard tags! They’re perfect for gifting to your crafty bestie at a scrapbook retreat, crop, convention, or crafty event.  They would also make wonderful Happy Mail surprises, and I can even see them being used as decorative covers for mini albums.

These were so much fun to create that I’m pretty sure I’ll be making more! Here's how I made them...

I began by trimming two pieces of acetate to 4½” x 4”.  I used the Love to Craft Heavyweight Acetate as the back piece and the Clear Heavyweight Acetate as the front piece. I placed the patterned acetate behind the clear acetate and stitched (or fuse tool) three sides together, leaving one side open for the shaker elements.

For my Shaker Mix For the shaker filling, I combined:  Shaker Love This Mix, Shaker Itty Bitty Buttons, lily white shaker balls and  Cupcake shaker balls.  I also added  Coordinating sequins from my stash.

I added a small amount of the shaker mixture into the pocket, then stitched (or fuse) the final side closed. I like to leave a nice border around the entire shaker pocket for a finished look.
Using the We R Makers Oval Punch, I punched an oval opening centered near the top of the tag. This gave it the same look as the badge holders often worn at conventions and events.

Next, I threaded coordinating ribbons through the opening. I used pink and purple ribbons to match the collection. You can also personalize these by adding a friend’s name or by attaching a lanyard to wear at an event.

Now comes the fun part! I selected several sentiment pieces from the Color Me Happy Bits & Pieces collection, including:  So Happy Together, Girl Getaway, Love to Craft To create dimensional clusters, I layered: Mini Icon Stickers, Puffy Icons,  Floral pieces, Odds and Ends,  Foam adhesive for extra dimension For one tag, I even added the adorable Color Palette Charmer (9082), which adds the perfect finishing touch.

I love building small clusters on the right side of each tag and incorporating those circular silhouette pieces behind the main images to create extra depth and personality. These colorful shaker tags are full of movement, texture, and crafty charm.

Whether you’re making one for a scrapbook friend, adding one to Happy Mail, or incorporating one into a mini album cover, they’re sure to bring a smile to someone’s face. I absolutely love how they turned out and can’t wait to gift them to someone special! What do you think? Would you use these as event badges, Happy Mail gifts, or mini album embellishments? Xo, Conny!

BUTTERFLY KISSES SHAKER TAGS | with Conny

Hello crafty friends! It’s Conny here from The Daily Life of Creativity sharing these sweet shaker tags using the Butterfly Kisses collection. These tags came together fairly quickly and are one of my favorite little projects to create because they can be added to mini albums, pockets, scrapbook pages, or even gifted to someone special.

To start, I cut patterned paper from the 6x8 paper pad to 2” x 8” and trimmed heavy clear acetate to the same size. Using my sewing machine, I stitched around both long sides and the bottom edge, leaving the top open to create the shaker pocket.

For the shaker mix, I combined shakers from Garden Party and Butterfly Kisses blends, along with mint, cupcake and lily white shaker balls.  I also added bright pink sequins to create a fun, colorful mix. Once filled, I stitched the top closed by sewing forward, backward, and forward again for extra security.

I added teal eyelets from my stash at the top center of each tag underneath the stitching so the tags would stay secure without pulling the stitching apart. Then I finished them with bright yellow ribbon bows for an extra pop of color.

To embellish the tags, I layered pieces from the Odds & Ends, Chit Chat, Bits & Pieces, and Doodle Pops. I especially love the adorable frogs and butterflies because they add so much dimension and personality to the tags. I also stapled word strips like “Choose Happy,” “Love These Memories,” and “Always Smiling” to add little sentiments throughout the project.

Thank you so much for stopping by today! I hope these tags inspire you to create something colorful and fun with your Butterfly Kisses supplies. XO

LUCKY ME HAPPY MAIL | with Niella

Hi crafty crew! It's mid March already and it's nearly time to celebrate St. Patrick's Day! Have you been getting ready with crafty projects or handmade gifts?  With only a week to go, there is still time to create something quick, easy and super fun to gift in happy mail or to give your crafty friend at your next get together or swap-meet! Let's get straight into my next Lucky Me project, DIY loaded envelopes and something special to go inside, mini shaker mixes and fun flagettes, no dies needed! And I have a video showcase at the end as well!

I  have a tutorial on my YouTube channel showing how to make your own DIY envelopes, so if you do not have an envelope maker or don't want to use premade envelopes then remember to check it out.  It's a good way to use up all those patterned papers and pads that you have hoarded and collected over the years!

Don't you just love the look of all the sweetness, bright colors and pure cuteness! Doodlebug always make it so super fun & easy by curating all the matching papers, stickers, icons and patterned papers, you cannot go wrong with your crafting!

Let's talk about the envelopes and what I've used to create them.  On the left, I've used the scalloped This & That sticker Lucky Me sticker as the vocal point on top of the envelope made with the Swimming Pool dot-stripe paper from the Lucky Me Petite Print Assortment cardstock pack and lined with the Rainbow Skies patterned paper and sprinkled with mini icons stickers! Super delightful! The gingham envelope is created from the Cherry gingham-linen paper and Clover Patch.  I love this one with all the polka dots and sweet gingham style.

Look at that sweet wreath and hanging rainbow charm! Such a great idea to add some Doodlebug twine in the mix! This envelope was created with Shamrock Wishes and the wreath is from the Icons Sticker Sheet.  Popping foam dots behind the elements gives my projects dimension and helps pop out the sentiments.  Fun! The yellow envelope is from My Lucky Charm and Bumblebee floral-graph papers.  Gotta love a good yellow shade and this one is so amazing!

Lastly, to add some extra special goodies to my DIY envelopes, I have created some shaker mixes using Doodlebug Shakers.  How many do you have in your stash? I bet you have nearly all of them, they are super duper darling and they come in the sweetest storage jar.  To create the mix, I randomly chose a few of the Shakers that I felt that matched Lucky Me, but I encourage you to try creating your own style shaker mix.  Then, using the scrap paper, I created some flagettes on white paper straws.  Didn't they turn out sweetiful?  A sparkly pom pom adds that extra cuteness!

Thank you again for visiting crafty crew! I hope you found some inspiration today! Please remember to tag Doodlebug Design in your Socials when you create with our products so we can all admire your creativity! We love seeing your creations! Until next time; doodle dee!  Enjoy my video showcase!

SNOW MUCH FUN WINTER BANNER | with Jen

I like making small seasonal banners for my craft room. I realized I didn't have a winter themed one I liked so I decided to use the Snow Much Fun collection to fix that!

My banner pieces are 4" x 6" and are layered to create a shaker on each. I used my Cricut and basic shapes to cut my banner and the top pieces. The bases are cut from the coordinating solids so that the snowflakes on the acetate would show better. The tops were cut from the 6x6 paper pad so I could use the smaller prints.

To assemble each banner piece I added strong tape to the back of the banner piece with the centers cut out. Rather than try and cut the acetate with my Cricut I just cut the sheet into 4" x 6" pieces. I adhered the piece to the acetate and then used my scissors to cut out anything that was hanging over. I then added foam tape to the base piece and added my Snow Crystals Shakers and then finished assembly.

Next I cut my letters using my cricut and cut them from both grey and black and layered them together to create a little shadow. I also cut the large snowflake using the Snow Fun Snowflakes 4 file available in the Lori Whitlock SVG Shop. I added two shadow layers to the snowflakes using the offset function in Design Space.

Finally, I strung it all together using Lilac Chunky Twine. I embellished with Odds and Ends pieces and an entire pack of the Snow Much Fun Sprinkles Assortment.

Have a great day!

OH WHAT FUN LARGE SHAKER TAGS | with Conny

Hello crafty friends! It’s Conny here from The Daily Life of Creativity, and today I’m sharing some jumbo shaker tags that feel like little Christmas gifts all by themselves
If you followed my last project—my Oh What Fun mini album—then you know I created that album mostly using the 6x8 paper pad. I ended up with a few leftover sheets… and instead of letting them sit, I turned them into these festive tags! If you haven’t seen the album yet, I have a full process video you can watch right here:

Those leftover pieces from the pad were honestly the MVP of this tag project!

Lets get started! Each tag measures 8 1/4” x 2 3/4”. This longer, slim shape gives you space to layer embellishments while still keeping everything clean and elegant. To make them sturdy, I matted each one onto 110lb. white cardstock, cut slightly larger at 8 1/4” x 2 3/4”. This leaves a white border frames the patterned paper beautifully and makes the tags feel “finished.” I trimmed each patterned paper 8" x 2 1/2". I used two types of acetate depending on the patterned paper.

  • The Christmas Magic acetate from the collection (SKU 8987) - full of tiny multicolored stars.
  • Heavy clear acetate - great when the paper is already bold or busy.

Both are cut at the same size as the matting, 8 1/4” x 2 3/4”, to fully cover the front. Once the patterned layer is adhered to the white cardstock, I place the acetate on top and take everything to the sewing machine.

I stitch around three sides, the two long edges and one short edge - leaving the top open. This creates a little pouch for you to add your mix of sequins and shakers.

Here’s the mix I used:

  • Christmas confetti
  • Peppermint bits
  • Mint ball shaker pieces
  • Laminate balls
  • Iridescent sequins
  • Snowflake sprinkles

I love when the shaker mix matches papers but it also stands out. Don’t be afraid to combine textures and finishes - sparkle on sparkle is always a win during the holidays. Once filled, I stitch the top edge closed to seal in everything.  I punched a hole in the middle and to protect that opening, I used standard eyelets. They close completely, so none of the shaker pieces can sneak out. I used aqua eyelets. Then I tied each tag with a sparkly iridescent tulle, which pulls the reflected light from the sequins and fills in any empty space. It looks like a bow on a present.

Even though shaker tags are already showstoppers, I still like to add soft layering:

  • Doodle Pops
  • Odds & Ends
  • Chit Chat phrases
  • Mini Icons
  • Puffy Icons
All of the embellishments sit on 1/16” foam adhesive, just enough to lift without overpowering the shaker. You’ll also find a process video for these jumbo shaker tags on Instagram! Make sure you’re following:

@doodlebugdesign

It should appear as a collaboration post so it’s easy to find. Creating tags like these reminds me why I love paper crafting, simple pieces of paper transforming into tiny bits of joy. They’re perfect for gifts, treat bags, mini albums, stocking stuffers, and even tucked into planners.
Thank you for spending a little creative time with me today. Happy holidays, happy crafting, and sprinkle a little magic everywhere you go, Xo Conny.
