SUMMER FUN - SUN'S OUT MINI ALBUM | with Niella

Long Summer days mean more memories to be documented! Why not make some cute mini albums for a fun twist on a scrapbook album! You could create several and hand them to friends and family to use to memory keep and hand them back for safe keeping or as gifts! How magical! Hi crafty friends, welcome to my second project with the adorable Summer Fun collection. Here are some key pages, and to see the whole album, check out my showcase video at the end, yay!

My mini album is 6x3 and contains 8 6x6 pages of patterned paper, folded in half.  To assemble, fold each page across ways and secure each page back to back.  Soon you'll be left by 16 pages to decorate, yay! My favorite part. How stinkin' cute is this cover! I've used the beautiful Seashells by the Seashore paper, I adore the tangerine starfish all collectively in rows! It's topped with doodle twine and a Sam & Sally seahorse doodle pop. To complete the mini album you wrap a piece of cardstock around the front to back.  So easy and fun!

Let's take a look inside! Don't you just love the view of the tabs here! I love them all lined up, it's brings a nice collective view of each subject. This page is created with a fold out page on the left and is created with the Summer Fun paper.  This scene paper is so fun and show all the colors and beach icons! It is awesome! Love the cluster of mocktails; hello!

Skipping ahead a couple pages, shows one of my favorite patterned paper fittingly named Beach Towel. Clusters of snorkeling & seashells brings me joy.  I love the pop of colors and that sweet starfish face, so cute! The Odds & Ends ephemera pack is so versatile and has so many fun and perfect pieces to add to any project.

Here we come to the next spread with the happy Gull Friends paper.  Such cute sea birds and beach sheds! I loved putting these pages together, they fit so well against each other.  There's a fun element to this page, check out my video below to see!  The beach sheds double as a fun tuck spot for your photo's or some journaling.

Are you ready for a Fin-Tastic interactive page crafty friends? This spread folds out and show the cuteness of the Summer School paper with the fold out Polka Dot Bikini paper and some vellum.  Another fun element is the removal dolphin from the Odds & Ends ephemera pack.  For this page I've pulled some puffy word stickers from the Puffy Word pack and highlighted these words with the scallop edges from the This & That cardstock sticker page. So cute!

The last page is so fun! This features a tuck spot, decorated tags from the Bits & Pieces ephemera pack.  Everything on these pages come together perfectly.  One of my fave pieces to use in any Doodlebug collection is the coordinating cardstock.  Every color matches the collection and can be used is so many ways. You never have to dig through your stash of cardstock to find a matching color as it's all in one pack. Genius!

SUMMER FUN SUITCASE ALBUM | with Miguel

Documenting summer is so much fun and special, and even more so when it's done with Doodlebug's beautiful products. Today I made a suitcase-shaped album using the Summer Fun collection.

I used several products such as cardboard, Summer Fun Solid Assortment, Chit Chat, and Odds and Ends. I particularly loved the vibrant colors in the collection.

Inside, there are some pockets along with cards to hold summer photos.

On the cover I placed this flamingo doodle pop with beach elements and I loved the result!

Thanks for stopping by, hoping you enjoyed this beautiful album as much as I enjoyed making it!

SUMMER FUN ADVENTURE MINI ALBUM | with Conny

Hello Crafty Friends! This is Conny from The Daily Life of Creativity with my second project using the Summer Fun Collection by Doodlebug Design. If you missed the first project, watch the process video here. I created another beautiful mini album using this same collection,  this time using the cards and envelopes - no chipboard needed!

I used the Summer Assortments Card pack, which comes with six card bases and six envelopes. I originally planned to create an accordion-style mini album, but I wanted to give it a little twist. I started by making the accordion-style base, using both smaller and larger card bases. For the front section, I used the smaller card base measuring 5½” x 4¼”. You will need two of these. For the back section of the accordion, I used the card base measuring 4½” x 6¼”.

Inside the back card base (4½” x 6¼”), I added another smaller slim card measuring 3¼” x 6¼” for extra layers and interaction. On top of the slim card in the back, I layered a blue envelope, perfect for tucking in fun little bits and pieces. Behind the envelope, I adhered a piece of yellow cardstock from the coordinating cardstock pack, measuring 6” x 4”. On the opposite side, I used a sheet from the 6x8 paper pad featuring 3x4 cut-apart cards. I folded the sheet in half across the 3x4 cards and attached it to a flap, creating an opening pocket so you can slide items inside. To finish it off, I added coordinating cardstock to one side of the 3x4 cards to create a dedicated space for photos.

For the cover page, I started with the Seashells by the Seashore patterned paper, cut to 5¼” x 4”. On top of that, I layered the coordinating orange cardstock, cut to 3½” x 4¾”. Next, I added the Summer Fun circle sticker using foam adhesive for dimension. The little umbrella from the Odds & Ends pack was also popped up on foam adhesive. To the right, I placed the Palm Beach Doodle-Pop sticker, and the word Adventure (from the Chit Chat Ephemera pack) also adhered with foam adhesive for extra lift. Finally, I tucked in a few small flower stickers from the mini sticker sheet to complete the cover design.

For the next page, I used a Summer Fun patterned paper and cut it to 10½” x 4”. On the 10½” side, I scored at 5¼”, then adhered it directly onto the card base. On the front flap, I added the “Best Vacation Ever” sentiment from the Chit Chat pack, along with a palm tree from the Odds & Ends pack. I also included the Paradise tab, a small crab sticker from the Mini Icons sticker sheet, and the Aloha puffy sticker. This flap opens by pulling the Paradise tab. When fully opened, there is space for two photos. Inside, I placed a “Life Is But a Dream” ephemera piece to complete it.

For the Thinking of You page, I matted the base with a piece measuring 5¼” x 4”. I used the Water Babies patterned paper from the 12” x 12” sheet, which is also available in the 6” x 8” paper pad. I decorated the page with a small crab from the Sticker Book and the “Thinking of You” sentiment from the Chit Chat pack, adding a little fish sticker for a playful touch. The sentiment is only adhered to the corner, so you can easily tuck a photo underneath it.

For the Hello Sunny Days / Happy Birthday page, I started by matting the top section with Water Babies patterned paper (also found in the 6” x 8” paper pad) cut to 5¼” x 4”. Along the bottom edge of this panel, I added a floral border strip for a pop of color. At the top, I placed the “Hello Sunny Days” title from the Chit Chat ephemera pack. On the right edge, I attached the Hello Beautiful tag from the Odds & Ends pack, allowing it to act as a decorative tab. For the bottom section, I matted a piece of coordinating patterned paper to 5¼” x 4”, then layered yellow cardstock on top, cut slightly smaller, to serve as a photo mat. At the bottom, I added the Happy Birthday sentiment from the sticker sheet, along with the adorable little octopus sticker.

Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope you’re inspired to recreate this project. This album is completely chipboard-free, so if you’ve ever been intimidated by building albums with chipboard and wrapping paper, this one is right up your alley! You can use any card bases you have on hand or even create your own and decorate them with the Summer Fun Collection by Doodlebug Design. As always, thank you for visiting, and I love you all! With love,  Conny

SUMMER FUN - FUN IN THE SUN MINI ALBUM | with Conny

Hello, crafty friends! It’s Conny here from The Daily Life of Creativity, and today I’m bringing you a bright, happy, sunshine-packed mini album using the adorable Summer Fun collection! This album is full of flips, flaps, fun tags, and sweet summer vibes.

Let me walk you through how I built this mini album step by step. Need the process video? Find it over at my YouTube Channel.

I started by cutting three chipboard pieces: two for the covers measuring 4 1/4” x 6”, and one for the spine at 4 1/4” x 1 1/2”. To wrap the covers, I used two patterned papers cut to 7 1/2” x 5 1/2”. This gave me about 3/4” all around to wrap. You can use the 6x8 pad if you have it or if not, I used 12x12 patterned papers: for the front cover, I used  Let’s Luau and Pink Paradise for the front and back cover,
and for the spine I used beach towel paper.

After applying double-sided tape and glue to my chipboard pieces, I placed them in the center of the paper. I used a Book Cover Guide Tool to miter my corners before wrapping everything neatly.

To wrap the spine, I cut a piece of patterned paper to 5 1/2” x 5 3/4”. I placed the chipboard spine centered along the 5 1/2” side. This left about 2 inches at the top and bottom. These flaps hold the  cover pieces in place. Then I laid out my pieces: cover, spine, and cover. I added strong double-sided tape to the top and bottom flaps of the covers and adhered them to the corresponding flaps on the spine.

For the inside spine, I used the same rainbow paper I used on the outside. It’s full of beautiful color and ties everything together. I cut it to 4 1/4” x 3”, added adhesive, and centered it right in the middle of the inside spine. To cover the inside front and back covers, I used two pieces of patterned paper cut to 4 1/4” x 5 7/8”. Once those are adhered, the album base is fully wrapped and ready for pages!

To create the interactive pages, I used two 12x12 papers: Pink Paradise, and Polka Dot Bikini. I scored each sheet vertically at 4” and 8”, then flipped them and scored at 5 3/4” and 6 1/4”. After that, I cut between the 5 3/4” and 6 1/4” score lines, leaving the center panel solid. This creates flaps on both ends, forming fun flip-out pages.

To mat the pages, I used the coordinating cardstock from the 12x12 paper pack and cut the photo mats to 3 1/2” x 5 1/4”. I adhered them across the panels and flaps. I also cut apart a few tags from the 6x8 paper pad and added them to the inside front and back covers. These little tags flip open, perfect for hiding journaling or small photos underneath.

Then came the embellishing! I used Odds & Ends die-cuts, puffy icons, cardstock stickers, and layered florals, all from the Summer Fun collection. I had fun mixing and matching pieces, adding dimension across the pages to make each one stand out.

For the Cover page, I added the florals from the odds and ends, layered them with foam adhesive, and had to separate Sam and Sally Doodle-pop. However, one of them is inside the album with the sentiment, 'Thinking of You,' hehe.

Now, for the closure, this album features a magnet closure, which is one of my favorite finishing touches. I used one piece of cardstock measuring 3” x 6”. I rounded the two corners on one of the long sides (the 6” side), this created the flap that folds over the front. I left the other end square. I attached the square end to the back cover of  the chipboard album, about 2 inches down from the top. I folded it over to the front, and added a magnet to the center of the flap, as well as another to the front of the album, so it stays shut. To finish it off, I added a piece of patterned paper measuring 3” x 2” to both the inside and outside of the flap for a polished look.

And that’s it , the album is done! It’s full of color, interactive flips, and room for all your summer memories. I’ll be sharing a flip-through and process video soon on Instagram and YouTube, so be sure to keep an eye out.

Thank you all for being here! This project inspires you to get creative and capture those summer memories. I love my Doodlebug Crafty family; you always welcome my projects with open arms! With love,  Conny

SUMMER FUN SHADOW BOX MINI ALBUM | With Traci

Hey sweet friends! Traci here and today, I'm sharing a mini album I made with the adorable Summer Fun Collection and its Shadow Box Insert Kit. It's filled with cute summer images and lots of fun stickers, so this album would be great for photos of a vacation, the beach, fishing, swimming, a cruise, and everyday fun!

I wanted to use the colorful insert kit in today's project so I chose my white 8x8 inch Acrylic Circle Window Album that highlights those amazing little stickers perfectly. But you could make the album's covers out of chipboard instead.

I tied a bow in the corner and added the sweet Little Charmers crab called Coral to the ribbon.

The first page is the collage that I created with the Summer Fun Shadow Box Insert Kit. The kit comes with a circle template, card stock, vellum and tons of colorful stickers. You place the stickers on the vellum with the help of a template behind it and you end up with this amazing little piece of art!

The next page is made with the 12x12 Catch a Wave acetate. It's transparent with a wave pattern but tinted in the swimming pool blue color. Won't it make a cute layout with a few photos on the front and back?

The album also has 12 white card stock pages that I covered in 12x12 prints. Above, I layered the colorful Polka Dot Bikini paper, then the Let's Luau and Beach Picnic patterns. The photo mat is titled Summer Fun.

Next, I wanted the Memories die cut from the Odds & Ends to look like a hanging sign, so I used Chunky Twine in swimming pool and an enamel dot. Then, I added the Summer Time die cut from Chit Chat.

I love creating interactive elements in my albums. They add extra photo space and they're fun! In this mini, I created 2 fold-out pages, 1 pocket, and 3 flippies. Above is one of those flippies. I made it with a cute journaling card from the Summer School print. It's a perfect spot for dates, names, locations, and events.

Look how cute this page is! I used the Water Babies paper (front and back) for the background and colorful photo mats. I love those happy little sea creatures. Next, I added the fish and seahorse from the Odds & Ends, the Hello from the Chat Chat, and the tiny enamel fish from Summer School Shape Sprinkles. Love!

This photo shows one of the fold-out pages I added. The Seashells by the Seashore paper in the background is so colorful and coordinates perfectly with the Gull Friends print used for the photo mats and the gorgeous rainbow stripe Beach Towel paper inside the folding flap.

Did you notice the 3 colorful patterned tabs on the edge of some of my layouts? They're die cuts from the Bits & Pieces and I love this extra little detail. They look great and you can use them to turn the pages. I also added the floral scalloped This & That border sticker on the page above. Isn't it pretty?

This collection is beautiful with its bright happy colors and variety of images / words to highlight your summer photos. There are sand castles, seashells, fish, and palm trees for beach memories. Suitcases, an airplane, a passport, room keys, and a cute pink hotel for your travel photos. And a cruise ship, sailboat, and anchors if you prefer to spend your time on top of the water, instead of in it. 😂

I hope my Adventure Awaits Mini Album inspires you to create something wonderful with the Summer Fun Collection. It's perfect for all kinds of crafting!

If you'd like to recreate this scrapbook, the acrylic album and instructions are available in my shop! Thanks for stopping by the blog today and happy scrappin'. 😊
