SUMMER FUN FLAMAING CARDS | with Karen

Hey everyone! Today I am so excited to share with you a little card set that sort of created itself using the adorable Flamazing Doodle Stamps that coordinate with the new Summer Fun collection. It was not at all what I had designed in my head but as I started creating, the flamingos just seemed to tell me they wanted to go in a different direction. And I say, always listen to the flamingos!

The Summer Fun collection is a really bright and bold collection, so when I first started colouring up these flamingos, I imagined that I would back my cards with some of the fun bold blues and pinks that you can find in a variety of the patterned paper. But as I started laying the flamingos out on the card bases that I used from the Summer Cards & Envelopes set, the flamingos decided that they really wanted to be the starts of the show. And really, they are so cute and tranquil that I couldn't argue! Although I love all the papers in this collection, the flamingos could really stand on their own (see what I did there?!).

So, on one card, I simply used a Mini Doily in Bubblegum as the background and then layered the stamps on top, finishing it off with a few Mini Jewels, also in Bubblegum. And to create a bit of extra dimension, I stamped the flamingo twice just to be able to cut out the wing and adhere it with some foam adhesive so it stuck up a bit. I also added one of the palm tree stamps and a few leaves which I cut out with the coordinating Flamazing Doodle Cuts to enhance the shape of the doily.

On the other two cards I did use a bit of the patterned paper together with a doily (in bubblegum and swimming pool) and a small piece of textured cardstock in Swimming Pool for a mat. Polka Dot Bikini and Water Babies in the 12x12 were my choice because I wanted a simple patterned paper that just added a bit of colour and didn't outshine the flamingos (like that was possible). On these two cards I also cut out a second flamingo for the wing to layer but instead of using foam adhesive, I just glued it towards the round end (where it would attach to a flamingo in theory) and left the rest for that layered look without the bulk.

These cards give off a light and airy feel - a little more clean and simple than I was planning with this collection. But I love them that way, and I love that you can take a collection like Summer Fun and create something totally different.

I hope you love these beautiful flamingos as much as I do! I think it's fair to say that they knew what they needed! Thanks for stopping by! Hugs,

MONSTER MADNESS FOLDOVER TREAT HOLDERS | with Karen

I am not exactly sure why, but it has been awhile since I had my colouring tools out on my crafty table. But when Doodlebug sent the new Monster Madness collection my way and I caught a glance of the new stamp collection, I knew what was in my near future. And let's just say that these stamps made me miss colouring!

Treat-2-All-1

Because, come on! It doesn't get cuter than these stamps. I mean, look at those cute faces! I decided to team them up with some of the 12x12 papers to create some little fold over treat containers.

Treat-2-Closeup-1

I stamped each monster and then coloured them up. I then fussy cute each one (the coordinating die cuts would also work but because I added some texture to one of the monsters, I just cut them by hand) and then used some foam adhesive to attach them at some different heights.

Treat-2-closeup-2

I used some mini clothes pins to hold the treat containers closed and embellished with some sentiments from the Chit Chat set and a few mini jewels. Oh, and can I just say that the striped paper that I used for the base has to be one of my favourite Doodlebug papers of all time! I had to flip it over to show you in this picture because the colours are jaw dropping!

Treat-2-All-2

Finally, I added a little bow and my little containers, with the most adorable monsters EVER, were all set to go (minus the treats). I think I will actually slide a monster cookie inside each one a little closer to Halloween, making a cute lunch treat for the family next week. Thanks for stopping by! Hugs,

MY HAPPY PLACE GARDEN GIRL STAMPED CARDS | with Karen

Up until this last fall, my happy place was at the crafting table. But this last year, I have found a second happy place - in the garden! I usually kill almost everything I grow, but this last year, my appreciation for growing plants from seed has, well, blossomed! So Doodlebug's - My Happy Place collection is just that much more special for me.

All-three-1

For this project, I decided to mix my old favourite hobby - colouring stamps - with my new favourite hobby by featuring the adorable "Garden Girl" plant-themed stamps on a set of cards. There are so many awesome plants to chose from and they are the perfect size to mix and match on A2 cards.

Stamps-2

I actually decided to have some fun with them by fussy cutting and layering one stamped image on the top of the identical image. Each plant is glued at the part where the plant meets the pot and left loose on top of that for dimension.

Stamps-1

I then attached the pot separately with some foam adhesive to make it look like the plant was coming out from inside the pot.

  All-three-2

I really love how these turned out - it was definitely worth the time it took to double stamp/colour and cut our each image! Truth be told, although my real plants have a new place in my heart, these ones are a whole lot more dependable and a whole lot easier to give away! I hope you have as much fun with yours as I have had with mine! Thanks for stopping by! Hugs,
