OH WHAT FUN FESTIVE CHRISTMAS CARDS | with Tya

 Hi friends! Tya here, and today I’m excited to share a set of quick and easy Christmas cards I created using the absolutely adorable Oh What Fun collection. This time of year is magical… but let’s be honest, it’s busy! Between holiday parties, shopping, and all the merry chaos, I wanted to create some simple-but-special cards that come together fast—without sacrificing any of that signature Doodlebug charm.

Using a mix of my favorite patterned papers, the playful Odds & Ends pieces, festive Chit Chat banners, some shiny Oh What Fun Sprinkles, and a few sweet Lily White doilies for texture, I put together four bright and happy cards guaranteed to bring a smile to even the grinchiest of faces!

 Card 1 – Santa & His Reindeer Cheer

For this card, I layered a sprinkle-filled Merry Magic background paper behind Santa, his reindeer buddy, and a cute little Christmas tree. A stitched green All Spruced Up gingham panel grounds the design, while a Lily White Doily folded in half adds that touch of softness I love. The red “Here Comes Santa Claus”  Chit Chat banner ties everything together and gives this card the perfect jolly finishing touch.

 Card 2 – Merry Christmas Village Scene

I couldn’t resist creating a sweet little holiday neighborhood scene for this one! The Village Book Shop Odds & Ends piece is front and center, accented with a whimsical Christmas tree and an adorable elf ready to help wrap presents. The soft green  Spruced Up gingham and pink Berry Christmas heart paper combo is so cheerful and unexpected. A rainbow-lettered “Merry Christmas” Chit Chat banner gives it that playful Doodlebug pop.

Card 3 – Sleigh Full of Joy

This card is filled to the brim with festive fun! I used a star-sprinkled Merry Magic patterned paper for the background and then piled on the bright red sleigh overflowing with gifts, elves, and even a gingerbread man hitching a ride. The doily below creates a snowy, fluffy feel, and the aqua “Happy Holidays” banner adds a perfect soft accent to all those bold colors.

Card 4 – Santa’s Light String Shenanigans

For the final card, I went full whimsical! I chose a sunny yellow  Twinkle Time pattern to pair with Santa tangled in colorful Christmas lights, plus a rainbow-striped tree and bright poinsettias. The red gingham  Festive Flannel paper at the bottom gives it a cozy, homespun look, and the doily brings that little bit of texture that makes everything extra sweet. The “Happy Ho Ho Ho To You” banner was the perfect finishing detail.

It's time to get out the markers or colouring tool of your choice because the new Oh What Fun Doodle Stamps are in the hoooooooouuuuuuse! You know I love to colour, and there is nothing better than a set filled with the cute characters and icons of Doodlebug. Oh What Fun is no exception, so I had to share some fun cards with you today!

This card set features a few of the different shapes you will find in the Oh What Fun set. Backed up by some paper from the 6X8 patterned paper, these amazing shapes pop right off the card.

This stamp set features some beautiful shapes like these ornaments that you can mix and match in different ways to make each card unique. I happened to colour each shape the same to speed up my process (so many cards to make this time of year), but if you coloured each one up individually, your cards would be even more unique!

And then, to make them easy to cut out, grab the coordinating Doodle Cuts and you will be all set to add the stamped images onto your cards. I used a little foam adhesive for a bit of pop, but sometimes with cards being mailed, a flatter approach might be better!

Finally. finish them off with some cute Shape Sprinkles from the Snow What Fun set and a sentiment from the Chit Chat pack, and these cards are ready to head out the door. And what perfect timing because I need to make room on my table to make some more! Thanks for stopping by! Hugs,

It's time - Christmas card time! I have a love/hate relationship with this time of the year. As you probably already know, I LOVE making cards. But no matter how early I start and no matter how many cards I make, I never have enough. Perhaps it is time to quit the day job and just make cards all day! :)

The good news for me is that Doodlebug products make the process of creating adorably cute cards so quick and easy! And the Oh What Fun collection is a perfect example. This little set of cards was created with the Oh What Fun Cards & Envelopes together with some of the paper from the 6x8 patterned paper.

The coordinating Chit Chat pieces are filled with sentiments that you can use on your cards. And there are so many pieces that there is no way you will run out before you finish making cards.

And then you can use the adorable characters from the Odds & Ends pack to embellish away. My favourite cuties in this collection are all of the little elves, so I used them in different ways on each card to create a unique scene for each card. Even if you have dozens and dozens of cards to make, each card will tell it's own unique story!

The great part is that once you get a process in place, you can use a similar strategy on each card, reducing the time it takes for each one and increasing the number that you can make in the time that you have, whether that is after work (like me) or all day (only in my dreams)!

OH WHAT FUN - CHRISTMAS CARDS | with Jen

Do you send out Christmas cards? Every year I mean to send them and then run out of time! So how do you get around that? Make them now! 

I decided to use the Oh What Fun Cards and Envelopes Pack along with all the new Doodle Cuts  and Doodle Stamps to make a set of Christmas cards. 

For the first card I kept it very simple. I used a piece of Lily White Candy Stripe Sprinkle Petite Prints for a mat and cut the scalloped end using the Borders and Edges Doodle Cuts dies. I then decorated using the Oh What Fun Puffy Words and Puffy Icons.

For my second card I used the Happy Holidays Doodle Cuts to make my fun Santa. I matted the card with Limeade Gingham Linen Petite Prints. I used the Puffy Words again for my sentiments. 

For my third card I cut a rainbow of trees using the Merry Christmas Doodle Cuts. I cut only the trees that don't have a trunk since that area was going to be covered up. I used a blending brush and inks to ink a little coordinating halo behind the different trees. I blended along the bottom in red. I then added a white strip and topped that with a Ladybug Plaid Polka Dot strip. My sentiment is cut with the die set but I cut it several times out of white and layered them together before topping with the red sentiment.

For the next two cards I stamped and colored the images from the Oh What Fun Doodle Stamps set and cut them with the coordinating dies. There is a little tag die on that set that I used for the front of this card. I added two 1 1/4" wide strips of Limeade Gingham Linen Petite Print to look like ribbon on a package. I tied Ladybug Chunky Twine on my tag and adhered it with foam tape. The sentiment is from the Puffy Words. 

The next card I matted with a 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" Candy Stripe Sprinkle Petite print. I used the Puffy Words again for my sentiment on a strip of white cardstock that I lightly inked with red ink. I put all my little colored gingerbread men at the top and my ornaments at the bottom. I added some Ladybug Doodle Twine to make an ornament garland or sorts. 

For my last card I used the Deck the Halls Doodle Cuts to make a shaker. I filled the shaker with the new Christmas Confetti and Peppermints Shakers. I matted the front with Bumblebee Dot Stripe Petite Prints topped with a white panel that had been lightly inked in pink. I finished it off with the sentiment from the Puffy Words and some snowflakes from the Snow What Fun Shape Sprinkles.

TINSEL TIME CHRISTMAS CARDS | with Guest Designer Mary-Ann Maldonado

Hey everyone! I am here with my second guest spot for Doodlebug, and I am super excited to share my creations today. I made four super easy, colorful, and fun cards. I am titling this post, Pete and Repeat! I remember that game as a kid in the 70's and 80's! If you are not as old as me, it is a game where you pester those around you. Anything they say or do, you repeat it. It was quite fun and annoying at the same time! Today, I am sticking with the repeat theme. A little less annoying than the actual game!

Can you tell why I titled this Repeat? Each of these cards has a repetitive pattern. With the Tinsel Town Collection, you get many fun pieces in the Odds & Ends Pack. I separated the package into like items and then decided which cards to make. If I hadn't stopped myself, I could have created about 20 more cards, just as easily!

I like dimension, so I use a lot of foam tape and foam squares. All of these cards can be created without using foam. They would be flatter and easier to mail. But I am addicted! This Doodle Pop screamed at me! I had to use it. I used the puffy candy canes to make a repeat pattern in the back. Then, placed the Doodle Pop on top of the sticker that was the same thing! Easy-peasy! The next card was pretty much the same process but with the silver stars.

Take a look at the bottle brush ephemera pieces. I lined them up like a forest and had another quick card. Once I added the mini jewels to the existing ornaments, it was done!

For my last card, I used the Tinsel Town Acetate as my card base. It really is spectacular! For this one, I grabbed out all the tree and ornament boxes. Layered them around the center of the card and used foam for a bit of dimension. I used almost all of the Odds & Ends pieces that decorate a tree! Again, repeating a pattern to produce lots of easy, beautiful cards.

So, you have a choice to make! Play the Pete and Repeat game with your kids (which may backfire), or play it when creating your next batch of cards! I bet I know what you choose. TINSEL TIME HOLIDAY CARDS | with Karen

It's time for tinsel! Bring on the glitter and the sparkle - I am ready for it! And clearly, so is Doodlebug because the new Tinsel Time collection is everything you can imagine it would be and more!

For my first project, I decided to create some Christmas cards. This season is one of my favourites as a card maker because I feel like I have an excuse to sit down for an afternoon and just make cards! I don't really need an excuse, but it's nice to have one!

I was particularly drawn towards the shapes in the Bits & Pieces pack so I wanted to feature those on this set of cards. They are wonderful combinations of Christmas themed flowers and evergreens and they are absolutely lovely for layering.

Oh, and can we talk about the Cards & Envelopes set that coordinates with this collection. It is a wonderful collection of shapes and colours that make creating cards a breeze. And this silver textured envelope is the things that dreams are made of. This picture does not so it justice at all!

And given that this collection is all about the tinsel, it seemed fitting to embellish with some of the glitter sprinkles that also coordinate. The subtle green and pink sparkles bring all the colours together.

Well, this may be my first card set of the season but it sure won't be my last. We can't wait to see all the fun Christmas cards that come off of you crafty tables this Christmas season! Thanks for stopping by! Hugs,

GINGERBREAD KISSES JOLLY & MERRY CARDS | with Lisa

I know a lot of people LOVE making cards... I have to say, I'm not really one of those people... For me it has always been more fun to create mini albums and layouts. But, once in a while, I have a fun idea for a card and I really enjoy making it. So for this project, I created two cards with big sentiments using the Gingerbread Kisses collection.

I love making layouts with super big letters, so for these cards, I used that technique, where I hand-cut letters out of patterned papers, without pre-drawing them... I just go for it :)

I cut out the letters, for the words Jolly and Merry (for the sentiments "Holly Jolly" and "Merry Christmas"), from the patterned papers of the 6x6 paper pad. Then I adhered them to a 4 1/2 inch strip using foam tape and then cut off the excess piece of the strip.

I added that piece of paper to a card base I created from patterned paper, making it slightly bigger than the strip with the letters, so that a border would peek out from all of the sides.

To make everything stand out more from the paper behind it (because there are a lot of layered patterns...), I traced black scribbly borders around the letters, the strip and the base.

I then took the puffy stickers (which are a newer product I love!!!) and added them here and there on top of the letters. I also added some gold sprinkles from the Hello Again collection.

To finish the sentiment, I added Alphabet Soup stickers in Gold to the card. I hope you enjoy the holidays,  or just this cozy wintertime.  See you in the new year!

GINGERBREAD KISSES HOLIDAY CARD RECIPE | with Karen

Today, I have a little recipe to share with you! It's not the cooking or baking kind though - it's the crafting kind! Because really, crafting blog posts are all about sharing the "yummy" ingredients that come together to make amazing creations. And given that Doodlebug's new Gingerbread Kisses collection is all about baking, it seemed fitting to share my favourite Doodlebug "recipe" in today's post.

   

At my core, I am a card maker. I love dabbling in other craft projects, but at the end of the day, creating card brings me relaxation and joy. And while I love experimenting with products on my cards, there are a few Doodlebug "ingredients" I almost always use...sort of like my flour, sugar and butter of the crafting table: 6x6 patterned paper, Odds and Ends, Chit Chat and Bit's and Pieces die cuts, and when available - Cards & Envelopes.

   

 Because here's the magic - with each of these products, you have endless combinations. Create a background with the patterned paper and then layer to your hearts content with the die cuts from the different packs. I love using foam adhesive to add more dimension on each level, but for Christmas cards like these ones, I keep it a little less dimensional since they are usually going in the mail. You get to create cute little scenes with adorable sentiments and each card becomes a "one of a kind" creation.

   

 

And then top everything off with Sprinkles or Mini-jewels like I did on this card and your yummy masterpiece is complete. Ingredients made simple by Doodlebug!

   

While you will definitely find my in the kitchen baking away this season, I can't wait to pull together some more goodies from this recipe as well. After all, like a great cookie, you can never have too many cute cards around! Thanks for stopping by! Hugs,
