Hi everyone! Jodi here today to get you in the spirit of Christmas! I loved the idea of creating a reusable advent calendar for the upcoming holiday season, so I decided to go with a Mini-Muffin Tin Calendar using the Home for the Holidays Collection. Here is the final product:
I started off by spray painting a couple of coats of white paint over the mini muffin tin. Next up I decided to stick with a green and red theme for the base and cut out 12 squares of each (using cardstock) measuring 2 1/4 X 2 1/4. After I layered each square with different pattern paper from this collection and topped it off with stickers and embellishments. On the back of each cardstock square, I added strong magnet to allow the advent calendar to be used every year.
Thanks everyone! Come visit my blog for my inspiration!
This is SO cute! I've been looking for an idea for a homemade advent calendar for my family - I'll have to look into the muffin tin a little further - Great job and Thanks for sharing!

ReplyDeleteThis is AWESOME! What an adorable and clever idea! I pinned it this morning just seconds after Doodlebug added it to their board and it was already on fire with so many pins! And how nice the company was to emboss the tin with your family's name. ;)

ReplyDeleteTonya, I used Business Card magnets I got at a stationary store (Staples in Canada). I cut them down to fit on the back of the 2 1/4 square cardstock pieces.

I'm having a hard time getting the spray paint to stick to the muffin tin. Did you rough up the surface before you painted it? I'm getting spots that have little holes in them.
ReplyDeleteThis is beyond amazing.
ReplyDeleteI have recently made this project but I love the bow at the top of the muffin tin. Is this a die cut or is there a pattern?
