Meme/Quote Challenge: The Greatest Thing Layout by Traci

Hi Doodlebug fans!  I enjoyed creating a page for this month's design team quote challenge.  With a new granddaughter, I looked for a fun grandma quote, but couldn't find one that sparked any creativity.  Then I ran across this one ... and knew I had the perfect photos.
This is my son, Jordy, his adorable wife, Chrissy, and my precious little granddaughter, Rylee Nicole.
For my layout, I used lots of new gingham/linen petite printsI cut a lily white linen pattern down to 8.5" x 11" and ran it through my printer, then I designed my layout around the quote.  Super simple! (The type font I used is called Alex Brush).
My accent papers are from Doodlebug's Sweet Things collection.  I love to use solids from Doodlebug's petite prints and pair them with scraps from older Doodlebug collections.  Everything always matches!!
I hope our quote challenge is inspiring you. Just search for a fun quote and then design a project around it!  Be sure to visit every day this week for more inspiration, and stop by my blog to say hello sometime!

Meme / Quote Challenge: Wish Upon a Star 3D Ornaments by Jennifer Beason

Hello, Doodlebug fans! The team and I have been challenged to find an inspirational quote or meme from Pinterest and incorporate it into our projects.  My inspiration was this fun chalkboard sign by Shana Lynn Panczyszyn. I love the quote and thought why not make some simple ornaments based on the sentiment.
The bear I used for my ornaments comes from the Beary Christmas Cut Set from Lettering Delights. These little guys look like they are closing their eyes and making a Christmas wish! Love them!!!! :) As I said, these ornaments are very simple to make. Here's how I made them.
  • The base (or silhouette) of the bear was cut out first.  I used thin chipboard and cut it out on my Silhouette machine. That was then glued onto two layers of foam board and cut out with a sharp craft knife.  This gave me a half inch thick base for my ornament. Next, the paper pieces of the bear were cut out of Linen Petite Cardstock and and glued together.
  • I then used some embroidery floss to stitch around the edges of each bear.
  • The two layers (the patterned paper piece and the foamcore piece) were then glued together.
  • The sides of the ornament were then covered with patterned paper and some hardware was screwed into the nose for hanging.
  • The stars were also cut out of thin chipboard then covered with patterned paper. Each point of the star was scored and folded up to give it a little dimension. The stars were then glittered and wrapped with thin wire.
Each star was then embellished with fun sprinkles, cardstock stickers, doodlepop stickers and glitter. Here they are close up.
And here are the ornaments individually.
Thanks for joining me today and since this is my last post for the year, Happy Holidays! :)  Jennifer

Meme/Quote Challenge: Frosty was Picking his Nose by Courtney

Hi all! It's Courtney Lee from Court's Crafts here with our meme challenge! So, funny story, I called it a "me me" for the longest time. I was hanging out with some friends and said, "I saw this me me thing..." and they couldn't figure out what I was talking about and then cracked up at how "old" I was when I was saying it incorrectly! meeeeeme meeeme why isn't it spelled meam? Anywhoozers... :)

In our household of kids aged 4, 2.5, and 11 months "don't pick your nose" is a common phrase.. I usually say, "Do you need a tissue?" ... but I had JUST said it when I scrolled through and saw this and I burst out laughing. My grandma has a funny sense of humor and I just knew she would think this is too funny.

I made this little card from a Lori Whitlock snow globe cut file and then sized the Doodlebug snowman cut file to fit over it.

The magic is in the details of this card which did not photograph well. boo. I hate it when that happens. Frosty's hat has snow texture on it and it is super poofy!

I embossed all three layers and spritzed it with a glitter mist that would not show up for my pictures despite the 30 I took from all kinds of angles! If you could have seen me you would have been cracking up. Anywho, I also used my pearl pen on the snowflakes which gave it another great kind of shine.

I had the Cricut print and write this piece so that I didn't have to use rub-ons. I know she'll love it.

This was kind of my "bonus card" in that I was just playing too late at night with some different techniques. The background has a glitter raised embossing paste snowflakes on it and I wove twine through the doily to create a focus for the busy background. It was still inspired by the same meme and both projects were done using Polar Pals. It is one of my favorite collections by Doodlebug ever. I love the purple mixed in and the prints are amazing!
