I❤️TRAVEL - PAPER TOTE FILLED WITH GOODIES | with Shellye

Travel in style with this adorable paper tote filled with fun goodies featuring the brand new "I Love Travel" Collection! Inside you'll find old-fashioned board games, cute luggage tags and a mini journal for jotting down memories.

To begin I crafted this simple luggage-style tote from Doodlebug Bon-Bon cardstock.  Here are the measurements for creating the 7" X 4.5" X 1.75" tote:
Cut cardstock to 12"X7".  Score the 12" length at 4.5", 6" and 7.5".  Fold along score lines and then corner round all four corners.  Next make two tabs from the same brown cardstock that measure 2.5"X3.75".  Score the strips at 1" and 2.75".  Attach to the front and back of the piece to create the sides of the tote:

For the front and back I cut two strips of Ladybug cardstock to 3/4" X 4.5"  and adhered them as shown:
The handles were made from a loop of the same 3/4" X 12" Ladybug cardstock. I used large brads to attach the handles.

Next I crafted a couple of "board" games that were laminated so that they could be written on with a dry-erase maker and then easily erased.

Using the sheet of  4X6 journal cards I made this quick and easy booklet:

To create the booklet I scored each journal card approximately 1/4" from the left edge. After prepping a cover from a 8.5"X 6.25" sheet of patterned paper, the cards were attached  along the scored tab.

Finally I used these adorable 3X4 cards and turned them into luggage tags.  The fronts were embellished with enamel shapes and sweet bows.

You can find more ideas for board games and even printables that can be printed onto patterned paper! So whether one is traveling by train, plane or automobile, this cute tote makes a great gift and keepsake!
Thank you for joining me today!

I❤️TRAVEL LAYOUT | with Tegan

I have so many travel pictures and I was so excited to use the adorable new Doodlebug Design I Heart Travel collection I almost didn't know where to start! I decided to start with the very first photo from my last trip. While it isn't the most fun photo from our trip that I have, it helps tell a story. I had never been stuck at the airport before, so it was fun to document this experience!
I started by cutting 7 inch strips from the back of the Plaid to be Here patterned paper and adhering them to my white background while leaving enough space for my title. I used the Skinny Alphabet Stickers in Beetle Black to make the title in between my strips of paper. I then adhered my white background on to the red Set Sail Patterned Paper and trimmed off the excess so a small border remained. I then adhered this piece to the super fun and adorable I Heart Travel patterned paper!
I embellished the top corner of the layout with Odds & Ends pieces (airplane and cloud) and the super cute Sunny Skies Cute Clips! And I love the little pops of color that the Sprinkles enamel dots add!
I embellished my photo with more Odds & Ends die cut pieces, Sunny Skies Cute Clips, Icons Stickers, and Sprinkles! I added the sunglasses sticker onto the sun die cut to give him a 'cool' (wink, wink!) new look.

Thank you for joining me today! I hope I have inspired you to grab some of the adorable new I Heart Travel collection and start documenting your most recent vacation!

A PURR-FECT LAYOUT | with Kathy

My name is Kathy and I'm a crazy cat lady.   To most people this isn't really "news."  I am the mom to two very spoiled kitties... and since my daughter has been away at school and I work from home, I spend a lot of time with them. This means I have lots of pictures of them that really need to be scrapped.  I've been hording the Kitten Smitten collection for a while, so I came up with this layout of my quirky boy Jax.  Take a peek...

I created the Silhouette file for this layout, and backed the letters with some papers from Kitten Smitten, and some Gingham Linen Petite Prints and of course Jax.
I dug into the Kitten Smitten Odds and Ends and found the cute little black kitty, and the notepad paper for my journaling.  The mouse and the paw prints are from the icon sticker sheet, and the fishy clip is from the cute clips.
I embellished more with some word stickers from the This and That sheet and sprinkled some sprinkles around the letters.

I popped it all up to give it a little dimension.  If you'd like to use this file for your kitty pics, you can download the file from my blog here.  That's it for me today, thanks for stopping by to peek!

UN-BEE-LIEVABLY CUTE DAILY DOODLES | with Jomelle

It's a beautiful day so don't worry, BEE Happy! I was inspired by the yellow and blue color combo and the super adorable bee jelly paper clip to create a memory keeping entry in my insert.
I thought it would be more fun to add this open flap element for journaling in my layout.
I must admit, this layout is a little bit out of the norm for me as I usually love to create a "no white space" layout. There is just something about the simplicity of this layout and yet it remains soo cute.
I have been waiting for the perfect layout to finally use my aodrable bee clip from my stash. Aren't the two bee clips so cute together? I also used the sun and cloud paper clip that I created from previous collection. It goes well with this layout.
Thank you for stopping by and have a BEE-autiful day!

STAR STUDDED LAYOUT | with Tegan

Do you still have a few favorite pictures from Easter that need to be scrapbooked? I sure do! And I was more than happy to get out the adorable Hoppy Easter collection again to document those photographs! I love creating with this collection. The adorable bunnies and chicks and fun color scheme just make me so happy! I also had fun creating a cool background using the Doodlebug Lots O Luck Lucky Shapes cut file set!

I created the fun background by using the star shape to make a random star pattern in my die cut machine software. I then die cut out my pattern on white cardstock. I then die cut the same pattern using Bubblegum and Swimming Pool Petite Prints patterned paper. I adhered these second two cut outs off center (the Bubblegum one offset to the left and the Swimming Pool one offset to the right) to make a border on the star cut out. I then backed the entire page with the colorful Easter Egg Hunt patterned paper. I just love how cool and colorful the stars are! I used lots of Odds & Ends pieces to make my title. And how cute is that little Easter Cute Clip carrot?!

I used my favorite patterned papers from the collection to back my photo and added more Odds & Ends pieces. I used This & That Stickers (the rainbow border and pink squiggle line) to embellish the side of the page.

Thanks for joining me today! I hope I have inspired you to finish documenting your Easter pics using the Hoppy Easter collection!

Washi Tape Challenge: Flamingo Layout by Melinda

Washi tape is one of those particular products we seem to hoard because we can't bare to part with it. However, you will be amazed at just how little you need to use from your stash to add a touch of fun to your projects. Today I'm going to show you how to apply a little bit of dimension using a very small amount of washi leaving plenty of leftovers in your collection for future projects... or just to look at and admire.

I simply used multiple strips of washi tape in layers and gently curled at the ends to create a feathered look to the wing of the flamingo. It produced a soft effect that gave the layout a lift without going overboard on using too much of my tape.

First step was to place small lengths of tape to plain vellum before cutting each individual strip and then punching one end with a rounded corner punch. Next step was to overlap and adhere each strip to the wing of the flamingo before gently bending each tip around a pen to create the dimension.

This gorgeous flamingo is from the Doodlebug - Fun In the Sun cut file collection which you can find at the links below. However I did alter the file a little as I wanted to put the title of my layout 'Flamingo' down the shape of the neck.

Flamingo - Fun in the Sun (Lori Whitlock)
Flamingo - Fun in the Sun (Silhouette)

And just look at that pink eye, it almost looks real - well it's actually from the Shaped Sprinkles (eye candy) in this year's Booville collection. I kid you not!

I didn't hold back in mixing and matching collections on this layout with a combination of Spring ThingsBoovilleFun In the SunMilk & Cookies plus a touch of Petite Prints card stock. I will always find room on my layouts for anything transparent like these sweet clouds and sun from the Spring Things Odds & Ends pack.

Easter Express Collection: Baby Bunny layout by Melinda

Is there a set of rules that applies to the order we scrap our photographs... Absolutely Not! The last thing you should worry about is falling behind with your memory keeping as it will lead to frustration and the risk of giving up altogether. I learnt a long time ago that I need to just scrap what I feel like doing at the time so it remains enjoyable, fresh and fun. The photo in my layout is from 2012 and has been sitting on my computer with all my other photos waiting for inspiration to strike. And the good thing about having an electronic version is the date is always stored so I never forget when it was taken. So, when Easter Express came along I knew I had a photo of Teddy as a baby that was a perfect fit and I enjoyed printing it out and preserving this precious memory.

The Story | Our little munchkin 'Teddy' was a huge surprise so having a little human in the house took some getting used to again. I'd almost forgotten how much fun it was to dress little ones in cute and cuddly clothes, especially during the holidays. This little bunny outfit was so sweet and soft and people complimented him whenever he had it on.

Product Crush |
Can you spy the 'Cute Clip' on this layout? I could not resist attaching the sweet clip to the photo of Teddy as it matched perfectly with his bunny outfit! These clips come in so many different shapes to match the icons on each new collection.

Journaling | I cannot express how important certain pieces of journaling are to a layout. You don't always need to write an extensive story with every picture but recording the date, month or even just the year and who is in the photo is a guaranteed 'must have'. In years to come you will thank yourself for making the effort.

Tips | There's always some little trick you can do to add a bit of interest or make something a little easier when working with your projects. For example... adding baby powder to the back of adhesive stickers will instantly rid you of the adhesive so you can add foam pop dots to create different layers with your embellishments. You can also add a few dots of glue underneath your twine to keep it in place and also prevent the fringing from getting unruly when stored. Finally, try replacing the dot on an 'i' in your title with a flower, or star or even a heart for that extra finesse to your work.

Easter Express is now in store front businesses and also on-line craft stores so you will be all set for this year's Easter photographs. Thanks for stopping by today.

Spring Things Collection: Hello Tiny Toes Layout by Melinda

Hi all, it's Melinda with you today and I have a layout to share using the beautiful new 'Spring Things' collection with it's dreamy colours, enchanting florals and the most adorable wee critters with their sweet little faces... awww!

The Story | These little feet belong to my youngest son when he was a couple of weeks old and because I knew this little bundle would be our last I was determined to photograph and remember every single detail of this precious newborn stage.

Journaling | There is no rule book on the amount of journaling that is appropriate for memory keeping so don't feel you need to write a book everytime you scrap a layout. This photo of my baby son's feet is self explanatory so I decided that a few words would suffice as long as I had the all important date and who belonged to these tiny toes.

New Product Crush | I cannot tell you how excited I was to see 'clear' pieces in the 'Spring Things' Odds & Ends packet. I love using anything transparent on my layouts as you can create such wonderful layers without blocking out what lies beneath. And, the clear pieces have a protective (removable) coating over the front to keep them from being covered in glue or fingerprints while you are positioning them onto your layout. Simply adhere them in place and then peal away the protective sheet.

Tips | Have you ever finished your layout only to realise it needs a little bit of softening around the edges with some misting or ink splatters? Well that's me - All. The. Time! And, I cannot trust myself to flick or splat anything in the exact position I want it so I grab a pen and create my own faux ink splats.

And finally... take a look at that little Doodle-Pop bee and his cute little face. I swear these collections are getting cuter and cuter, is that even possible? Thanks for stopping by today.
