SUMMER FUN CASCADING POCKET MINI | with Conny

Hello crafty friends! It’s Conny here from The Daily Life of Creativity, and we’re playing with the Summer Fun Collection once again!

Today we’re creating this fun little cascading pocket mini album. It has six pockets that get smaller as you work your way down, creating a fun layered look. You can add photos, journaling, or little memories inside each pocket.

Let's get started!

I started with a piece of cardstock measuring 5” x 8”, scored at ½” on the 8” side and ½” on both sides of the 5” side. This created the base. I added a piece of cardstock measuring 4” x 7½” to the front of the base.

Next I created the cascading pockets, Here are the pieces I cut for to make them:

  • 7½” x 4” finished, cut 5” x 8”
  • 6½” x 4” finished,  cut 5” x 7”
  • 5½” x 4” finished, cut 5” x 6”
  • 4½” x 4” finished , cut 5” x 5”
  • 4” x 4” finished , cut 5” x 4½”
  • 3” x 4” finished, cut 5” x 3½”.

On each piece I scored ½” from both sides of the 5” width, and scored ½” at the end of the length.

I folded along thescore lines, trimmed away the corners, and adhered the pockets one on top of the other, starting with the largest and working down to the smallest.

For each pocket, I used a circle punch along the front edge to create a little thumb notch. This makes it easier to pull out your photo mats or cards. I decorated the pockets with pieces from the Summer Fun Collection, including the adorable toucan, turtle, seagull, and crab from the Odds & Ends. I also added some of the Puffy Icon Words, including Say Cheese, Hello, and Time to Relax, along with the fun Beach Hair. Don’t Care. phrase.

And that’s it! A simple little cascading pocket album that’s perfect for adding summer photos, journaling, and memories!  Happy crafting!

SUMMER FUN FINTASTIC PAGE | with Traci

Hello crafty girls! Traci here and today, I have a 12x12 scrapbook layout that's "fin-tastic" for some beach, pool, fishing, and warm weather memories. I designed it with the colorful Summer Fun Collection and used one of its cute 🐟 fish patterns as inspiration. Take a look ...

I chose the 12x12 rainbow stripe Beach Towel print as the base and layered lily white cardstock on top. Then, I cut five 2" strips out of the pattern papers titled Gull Friends, Summer Fun, Pink Paradise, Water Babies, and Seashells by the Seashore. I varied their lengths for interest, then punched small fish shapes out using an EK Success Paper Shaper. Next, I added foam squares to the fish and popped them up for dimension.

Above, I added two 3x4 inch photo mats cut from the polka dot Gull Friends paper. To embellish, I added the sun 🌞 die cut from the Odds & Ends and the adorable toucan bird from the Tropical Trio Doodle-pops. I placed him along the top edge as if he was just hangin' out on the photo mat.

At the bottom, I cut the 12x12 Summer School paper into a wave shape and adhered it to the page. Then, I added the Donnie Dolphin Doodle-pops and a few of his enamel water drops. So cute and such a fun name.

Here, I added the "you're" and "fin-tastic" stickers from the Puffy Words. I love the little bit of shine and dimension they add, along with the Doodle-pops and the popped-up fish.

I hope this colorful layout inspires you to be creative with the fabulous Summer Fun Collection. Have a wonderful day and happy scrapping everyone! 😊

SUMMER FUN VACAY MINI ALBUM | with Inessa

I had so much fun creating this bright and colorful mini album using the Summer Fun collection !

The idea for the album actually started with the light pink card included in the Bright Cards pack. It measures about 4" tall by 5.5" wide, and I loved it so much that I decided to build the entire album around it. I kept the finished album at approximately 4" x 6" and used my We R tool to create a fun spiral-bound mini.

The album has six pages, including the front and back covers, which gave me plenty of room to play with all of the adorable embellishments in this collection. I used lots of Doodle-Pops, ephemera, stickers, enamel shapes, and even added a little touch of gold with some puffy alphabet stickers.

One of my favorite pages is the sequin shaker! I created it using two pieces of acetate and filled the inside with a mix of bubbles and little fishy shaker pieces. I love the extra movement and texture it adds to the album!

I added a photo to each page, with most of my photos sized at 3" x 4". I also mixed in a few 3" x 3" square photos throughout the album just to change things up and make each page feel a little different.

For the back page, I created a small pocket and tucked a few tags inside. It's such an easy way to add another interactive element and gives me a little extra space for journaling or even more photos.

This collection is just so cheerful and perfect for documenting all of those fun summer memories. Between the bright colors, adorable icons, and all of the little interactive details, this mini album was definitely a fun one to put together!

SUMMER FUN OUR BEACH DAY LAYOUT | with Tya

Hello crafty friends! Tya here, and today I’m sharing a bright and cheerful summer layout featuring the adorable Summer Fun collection.

I had these sweet photos of Maddie and Ethan enjoying a summer day at Bear Lake, and I knew immediately that Summer Fun would be perfect for them. The happy colors and all of those adorable beach-themed icons were just begging to be used! I love how this layout captures that carefree feeling of childhood summers—sunshine, sand, water, and lots of happy memories.

Building the Background

I started my layout with a piece of white cardstock because I really wanted all of those gorgeous Summer Fun colors to pop. I added some light blue ink splatters across the background to bring in a little extra color and texture without taking away from the photos.

Along the left side, I added a strip of the fabulous Beach Towel patterned paper. I repeated the same rainbow paper on the right side of the layout, layering it with the orange starfish Seashells by the Seashore paper and that beautiful, bright blue Gull Friends paper. I love how repeating the same colors on both sides helps tie everything together while still leaving plenty of white space.

A Little Beach Scene

One of my favorite parts of this layout is the little scene I created along the lower left side. Doodlebug’s Odds & Ends are always so much fun for building these little clusters!

I layered the colorful beach sign over the rainbow strip and added the adorable striped beach chair beside it. Above the sign, I tucked in the sun, cloud, and little seagull to create a sunny beach-day scene.

And of course, I couldn’t resist adding that darling little turtle and starfish near the bottom!  They are from the Puffy Icons Stickers and the Icons Stickers. A few tiny heart accents and a flower on the chair added just a little more dimension and detail. These sweet little characters are exactly why I love Doodlebug so much!

Creating the Photo Area

For the main portion of the layout, I placed my two photos side by side on the blue polka-dot patterned paper. I kept the photos fairly large because those sweet faces are definitely the stars of this page!

I love the contrast of the bright photos against the blue background, and the white borders around the photos help separate them from all of the colorful patterns and embellishments.

At the top of the photos, I created another fun embellishment cluster using two layered tags. I tied one with some natural twine and then layered on a sandcastle die cut from the Odds and Ends, the cutest little crab Icon Sticker, and a Puffy Icon seashell.

I also added the “beach therapy” and “FUN” stickers from the This and That sticker sheet,  along with a small flower cluster. I love mixing different shapes, textures, and layers in my embellishment clusters—it gives you so many fun little details to discover!

For my title, I used the large “Our Beach Day” pieces from the Chit Chat and placed them right across the bottom of the photos. The light blue lettering was the perfect choice against the darker blue patterned paper and really helps the title stand out.

I tucked a colorful beach ball Icon Sticker beside the title and added another little flower cluster on the opposite side. Those small embellishments help frame the title and draw your eye right into the photos.

Underneath, I added my journaling about Maddie and Ethan spending the day digging in the sand and soaking up all that summertime fun at Bear Lake. I backed the journaling with kraft cardstock and finished the bottom with a sweet pink polka dot scalloped border from the This and That Sticker Sheet.

I always love including journaling and a date on my layouts. Years from now, it’s those little details that will help bring the memories behind these photos back to life.

One Sweet Summer Memory

I had so much fun creating this layout with the Summer Fun Collection! The bright rainbow colors, adorable beach icons, and playful patterns were absolutely perfect for documenting these photos of Maddie and Ethan. Looking back at these pictures from 2008 makes me especially happy that I took the time to scrapbook these everyday summer moments. Those simple days at the beach really do become some of the sweetest memories.

Thank you so much for stopping by today! I hope this layout has inspired you to pull out some of your favorite summer photos and create a colorful page of your own with the Summer Fun Collection. There are so many adorable pieces to mix, match, and layer, and I can’t wait to see what you create!

SUMMER FUN 6x4 CARDS | with Niella

Hi crafty friends! Nice to see you all pop by! Today I have some simple yet sweetiful inspiration for you when you next need to create something special for on it's own or to go with a gift! Who doesn't appreciate a greeting card, especially a homemade one!  Stay tuned to see my video showcase of my three Summer Fun cards!

Each card is 6x4" in size and big on inspiration! I've used the Bits & Pieces alongside the Odds & Ends ephemera pack.  These mighty packs hold so many different pieces, one pack alone will give you endless possibilities!

Each of my card bases are 6x4" and I've begun by mounting a patterned paper on top of my card base then on top of that, added a piece of white textured cardstock.  This helps the card bases to become sturdier and sets a nice canvas to decorate on.  Once each card has been mounted with patterned paper chosen from the 6x8 paper pad and white cardstock, I gather what I'd like each card to have and simply start layering and adhering as I built upwards.

My favorite tip to have your ephemera pieces pop out from the base is to use pop dots and slightly curl the edges away from the base.  This gives a lifted look, yet it's secured.  Flat lay can be boring! I enjoy textures and illusions!  Lastly, I've added some doodle twine, so fun!

Thank you again for visiting crafty crew! I hope you found some inspiration today! Please remember to tag Doodlebug Design in your Socials when you create with our products so we can all admire your creativity! We love seeing your creations! Until next time; doodle dee!
Enjoy my video showcase!
