SUMMER FUN - CUTE TAGS | with Niella

Hi crafty crew, I'm so happy to see you pop into today! I bet you're having a wonderful Summer with gorgeous weather and delicious food!  I picture barbecues and cool drinks by the water! And with those delightful thoughts, I'd like to show you my first project with the new Summer Fun collection! The colors and characters are sure to charm you. Be sure to stay tuned and see my tags in my video below.  Yay!

Firstly, I started by cutting tags that measure 2 3/4" x 4.5" and then mounted them different patterned papers and then again on white cardstock.  You can be like me and add machine stitching or you could add faux stitching by using a pen and dotting along the edges. So fun!

There is so many ideas for tags! You can collate them and add them onto a ring binder for a fun tag flip or mini album.  How about pop them onto your scrapbook pages for a fun embellishment or use one to label your next gift basket for giving.  Endless ideas.
Scroll through to check out the products I've used alongside the coordinating cardstock pack.

Life's a Beach tag is made with Water Babies and Paradise Palms patterned papers.  I really love the cute cluster of tropical drinks! And the Sunny tag is created with the Paradise Palms and the Beach Towel patterned papers. How darling is the Toucan watching over the flower from the Icon Stickers.

Here come a pair of cuties! The Hello tag is created with the Seashells by the Seashore and Flamazing Flock patterned papers. How charming are their sweet faces! I loved adding the Icon stickers on foam dots to add dimension.  The Doodle Twine cements the cuteness!  The next tag on the right is Beach (enjoying the sun) are made with the Seashells by the Seashore patterned paper and coordinating cardstock.  How adorable is the turtle and those rainbow sandals.  Darling!

The last two tags are created with more adorable-ness! The Seas the Day tag are made with the Seashells by the Seashore and Beach Towel patterned papers and don't you just love the darling starfish Icon stickers.  And the Paradise Sun Tag has been created with the Water Babies and Polka Dot Bikini patterned papers! Super fun, with equally amazing named papers! How sweet is that sandcastle and pink squid! So sweet.

Thank you again for visiting crafty crew! I hope you've found inspiration today! Please remember to tag us in our your Socials when you create with Doodlebug so we can all admire your creativity! We love seeing your creations. Until next time; doodle dee!

SUMMER FUN ODDS & ENDS CARDS | with Karen

Good morning Doodlebug fans! Today I am coming to you with some bright and colorful cards featuring the Summer Fun collection because I need a little summer brightness in my life. It has been a gloomy and rainy summer up here in Calgary (which I am not used to as we are known for our bright blue skies) so filling my crafty table with Doodlebug color and all things summer is just what the doctor ordered

One of my favourite things to do when I get a new Doodlebug collection is to dump out the entire Odds & Ends die cut package all over my table. I love going through all the cute characters and icons and picking out some favourites to feature on projects (and to hoard for my collection). Usually, those become the first on a set of cards.

And speaking of cards, if you didn't already know, Doodlebug features Cards & Envelopes sets that coordinate with the collections. This one for Summer fun is a great selection of white base cards in a variety of sizes with colourful envelopes in Doodlebug colours to match. I pulled out 3 for this set!

Then I grabbed a few different prints from the 12x12 patterned paper as the base of each card. Let's Luau (say that five time fast), Beach Picnic and Summer School (best name for paper ever!) were the papers I chose for the bases and then added a small square of Polka Dot Bikini to each to anchor the die cuts I chose. I also layered the Polka Dot bikini on a bit of Summer Fun textured cardstock for definition.

Once I had everything positioned and layered with a few mini doilies in Bubblegum and Swimming Pool, I adhered everything with some foam adhesive for some dimension. Remember, don't be afraid to gently bend up the edges of your die cuts to get some more dimension! Finally, I added some sentiments from the Puffy Word Stickers, added a few Sprinkles and a few Mini Paper Clips in Blue Jean.

Voila - a set of cards ready to bring all the summer sunshine you can imagine to anyone who receives them. But these ones might need to stay on the wall of my crafty space until the sun decides to return! Thanks for stopping by! Hugs,

SUMMER FUN DOODLE CUTS SHAKER EMBELLISHMENTS | with Miguel

One of my favorite products is Doodle Cuts, as they allow you to really use your creativity to create your own embellishments for your projects with different shapes and textures.

Look how beautiful they look using Summer Fun cardstock and foam, cutting in multiple layers with the die to give greater dimension to the piece.

To decorate I used mini icons and puffy icons, I love using this product because the shine and color of these make my project stand out a lot and give it that shine on the cardstock.

In these pieces I used the shaker balls in different colors to create the stones for my fish tanks and look how beautiful this project looks.

I personally like to make these pieces so I can collect them in folders and have them handy whenever I need a nice embellishment! Thanks for reading, see you soon.

SUMMER FUN - SUMMER TIME LAYOUT | with Nathalie

The new Summer Fun collection is here, and I am so excited to get all those fun memories documented with this fun, colorful, and cute collection.  This collection is so easy to work with it pretty much made it so easy to put this layout together.

I wanted a design that will showcase that would showcase the patterned papers in this collection, and decided to use them to create my background.

I started with one of the coordinating cardstock for the background of this spread.  Then used a combination of papers from the 6x8 Paper pad to build the triangles at the base of the page, then I cut pieces from Gull Friends and Let's Luau to create the top triangles on the layout.  I also added one of the scalloped edges to the top edges of the bottom triangles.

To make the photos showcase on the layout, I used patterned paper from the 6x8 paper pad to create frames behind them.  I set them atop the bottom triangles using foam adhesive. A mix of Bits and Pieces, Chit Chat and stickers help  to create clusters at the corners of the photos.

To finish my layout, I used Chit Chat to create my title and tie the two sides of the layout together.  A few pops of color using Sprinkles just brings it all together.

I love how this turned out, and I hope  it inspires you to document your memories using the new Summer Fun collection,  XO.

SUMMER FUN ADORA-BOWL BOX CARDS | with Kathy

Doodle Cuts are some of my most favorite Doodlebug products, and the Adora-bowl Doodle Cuts from the Summer Fun Collection are just the cutest!  I combined them with my love of everything 3D to come up with these fun cards... take a peek...

For my first card I created a fish bowl, complete with castle and floating fishies!  To build my fish bowl, I cut the shaker bowl outlines from some thin chipboard, then covered them with Swimming Pool cardstock from the Summer Fun Coordinating textured cardstock pack.  I used some heavyweight acetate for the "glass" part. On one bowl I added a piece of water paper (water babies b-side) from the 6x8 pad to look like water in the bowl.

I created a top and bottom to my bowls by cutting a piece of paper (1 1/2" x 1 5/8') and score it on the long ends 1/8" on each side.  I glued these to the top and bottom of the fish bowls.  On the bottom of the bowl I cut a piece of kraft candy stripe sprinkles paper to look like sand.  I propped it up using a folded strip of paper, then added the die cut castle and shells from the sweet shells shaped sprinkles.

To make my fish look like they are swimming, I cut thin strips of heavyweight acetate.  I glued the fish to one end, created a folded tab on the other end which I glued to the top of the fish bowl.  To complete my card I added the happy birthday from the puffy word stickers.

I featured the cute little chameleon for my next card.  Again I created the bowl, without the water backdrop.  The tops and bottoms were done in the same manner as the fishbowl.  I cut the rocks, plants and chameleon from the doodle cuts and propped them up with a paper tab on the bottom.  I finished my card with the scripty hello from the Chit Chat pieces.

Isn't he the cutest??? The nice part of these cards is they do fold flat so that I can mail them to friends!  Have you made any projects featuring the Summer Fun Collection?  Be sure to tag @doodlebugdesign so we can see what you made!  That's it for me today, thank you for stopping by to peek!

SUMMER FUN - FUN IN THE SUN MINI ALBUM | with Conny

Hello, crafty friends! It’s Conny here from The Daily Life of Creativity, and today I’m bringing you a bright, happy, sunshine-packed mini album using the adorable Summer Fun collection! This album is full of flips, flaps, fun tags, and sweet summer vibes.

Let me walk you through how I built this mini album step by step. Need the process video? Find it over at my YouTube Channel.

I started by cutting three chipboard pieces: two for the covers measuring 4 1/4” x 6”, and one for the spine at 4 1/4” x 1 1/2”. To wrap the covers, I used two patterned papers cut to 7 1/2” x 5 1/2”. This gave me about 3/4” all around to wrap. You can use the 6x8 pad if you have it or if not, I used 12x12 patterned papers: for the front cover, I used  Let’s Luau and Pink Paradise for the front and back cover,
and for the spine I used beach towel paper.

After applying double-sided tape and glue to my chipboard pieces, I placed them in the center of the paper. I used a Book Cover Guide Tool to miter my corners before wrapping everything neatly.

To wrap the spine, I cut a piece of patterned paper to 5 1/2” x 5 3/4”. I placed the chipboard spine centered along the 5 1/2” side. This left about 2 inches at the top and bottom. These flaps hold the  cover pieces in place. Then I laid out my pieces: cover, spine, and cover. I added strong double-sided tape to the top and bottom flaps of the covers and adhered them to the corresponding flaps on the spine.

For the inside spine, I used the same rainbow paper I used on the outside. It’s full of beautiful color and ties everything together. I cut it to 4 1/4” x 3”, added adhesive, and centered it right in the middle of the inside spine. To cover the inside front and back covers, I used two pieces of patterned paper cut to 4 1/4” x 5 7/8”. Once those are adhered, the album base is fully wrapped and ready for pages!

To create the interactive pages, I used two 12x12 papers: Pink Paradise, and Polka Dot Bikini. I scored each sheet vertically at 4” and 8”, then flipped them and scored at 5 3/4” and 6 1/4”. After that, I cut between the 5 3/4” and 6 1/4” score lines, leaving the center panel solid. This creates flaps on both ends, forming fun flip-out pages.

To mat the pages, I used the coordinating cardstock from the 12x12 paper pack and cut the photo mats to 3 1/2” x 5 1/4”. I adhered them across the panels and flaps. I also cut apart a few tags from the 6x8 paper pad and added them to the inside front and back covers. These little tags flip open, perfect for hiding journaling or small photos underneath.

Then came the embellishing! I used Odds & Ends die-cuts, puffy icons, cardstock stickers, and layered florals, all from the Summer Fun collection. I had fun mixing and matching pieces, adding dimension across the pages to make each one stand out.

For the Cover page, I added the florals from the odds and ends, layered them with foam adhesive, and had to separate Sam and Sally Doodle-pop. However, one of them is inside the album with the sentiment, 'Thinking of You,' hehe.

Now, for the closure, this album features a magnet closure, which is one of my favorite finishing touches. I used one piece of cardstock measuring 3” x 6”. I rounded the two corners on one of the long sides (the 6” side), this created the flap that folds over the front. I left the other end square. I attached the square end to the back cover of  the chipboard album, about 2 inches down from the top. I folded it over to the front, and added a magnet to the center of the flap, as well as another to the front of the album, so it stays shut. To finish it off, I added a piece of patterned paper measuring 3” x 2” to both the inside and outside of the flap for a polished look.

And that’s it , the album is done! It’s full of color, interactive flips, and room for all your summer memories. I’ll be sharing a flip-through and process video soon on Instagram and YouTube, so be sure to keep an eye out.

Thank you all for being here! This project inspires you to get creative and capture those summer memories. I love my Doodlebug Crafty family; you always welcome my projects with open arms! With love,  Conny

SUMMER FUN - SUMMER TIME SHAKER MINI ALBUM | with Jen

There is so much to love about the new Summer Fun collection! The cute wave patterned acetate, the Bitty Bubbles and Fishies shakers, literally every piece in the Odds and Ends, Chit Chat, and Bits and Pieces - I used them all! Today I have a shaker cover mini album using the Summer Fun collection.

The finished album measures 8" x 8" with a 2" spine. I used my Glowforge to cut the Summer Fun title into the spine and backed it with the Gull Friends paper. For the shaker on the front cover I used a mix of the Bitty Bubble and the Fishies shakers. Through the shaker you can see a photo mat inside the pocket on the front inside cover.

Inside we have three packed pages with lots of flaps for all your pictures. One of my favorite elements is the Polaroid-style cut-aparts on the Flamazing paper.  Here I've used it as the focal on the first page.

I used the various Odds and Ends and Bits and Pieces to build ephemera clusters. On this page I used the flowers from the Bits and Pieces to build a floral cluster on the bottom corner of my flap.

On the back page I used some leftover Summer Fun acetate for a photo mat. The mat is used to keep the flaps closed. I added Chit Chat and Odds and Ends on top of the small belly bands and under where my acetate photo mat sits.

Underneath the flaps are two more held closed with a 4x6 photo mat.

They open to a layout page with lots of photo mats. I used an assortment of Odds and Ends and Chit Chat to add finishing touches.
