Hi there, crafty friends! I’m so excited to share a spooktacular home décor project I created using the Hey Pumpkin collection! This collection is packed full of smiling pumpkins, cute little ghosts, colorful candies, and the happiest Halloween icons ever. I thought it would be so fun to showcase all of those darling elements in a framed paper sampler — perfect to display as part of my Halloween décor.
The Full Sampler
Here’s a look at my completed Halloween sampler! Each of the nine squares features a playful little Halloween scene, all layered over cheerful patterned papers. The bright plaid border ties everything together beautifully and makes the whole project pop against a simple black 12x12 frame.
Top Row Details
Pumpkin Mug Block – I started off with the sweet Pumpkin Latte Doodle-pop, layered over stitched mats in orange Textured Cardstock, and tiny colorful dot black paper from the 6x6 paper pad. I added a tiny spider hanging from baker’s twine for a touch of Halloween whimsy and finished it with a floral accent from the Bits and Pieces.
Haunted Candy House Block – Next, I built a cute candy-colored haunted house scene! I used some Bubblegum Gingham/Linen paper for the back square and some green Textured Cardstock. The house is from the Icon Sticker sheet. I popped the house up with foam tape for dimension and added tiny gems from the Mini Jewels to a few parts of the sticker. The candy details make it all the more fun!
Cupcake Duo Block – On the top right, I used two Halloween cupcakes layered over a scalloped circle. The green scallop circle is from the Bits and Pieces. The green cupcake is from the Odds and Ends, and the orange cupcake is from the Icon Sticker Sheet. I mounted these on a 2 1/2 inch scallop circle I punched out of some white cardstock. I added in a tiny spider from the Halloween Night Shape Sprinkles for some spooky-cute flair and added the “Happy Halloween” speech bubble from the Odds and Ends for a cheerful sentiment.
Middle Row Magic
Little Witch Block – Isn’t she the cutest? I layered several pieces here to frame the adorable little witch sticker from the Icon sticker sheet. I punched out a 3-inch circle from some white cardstock and then layered up a 2 1/2 inch scallop circle punched out of black cardstock, and then I added the white scallop circle with the black outside from the Bits and Pieces. I then added a pink heart and a yellow heart sticker from the This and That sticker sheet and the sentiment banner “Have a Magical Halloween," which is from the Chit Chat die cuts. This whole piece is mounted on some cute green spider web paper from the 6x6 paper pad.
Center “Trick or Treat” Block – This is the centerpiece of the sampler, and it’s the one that ties everything together! I used the colorful Trick or Treat sticker from the This and That Sticker Sheet and decorated around it with tiny candy pieces and enamel dots from the Trick or Treats Shape Sprinkles for a pop of sweetness.
Floral Cluster Block – To balance out the middle row, I created a floral block filled with bright blooms from the Bits and Pieces, a spider web tag from the Bits and Pieces, and a bow made from black and white twine. I also added a large yellow sprinkle from the Halloween Assortment pack for some shine. I love how the layering and textures make this section come to life.
Bottom Row Fun
Ghost & Kitty Block – These two are best buds! I paired the happy ghost with the little cat peeking out of a pumpkin die cuts from the Odds and Ends, layered on black patterned paper from the 6x6 paper pad for contrast. The “Boo” word strip sticker and mini bat Sprinkle from the Halloween Night Sprinkles add extra charm.
Pink Car Block – Up next, a fun pink car filled with Halloween friends! This is the Boo Cruise Doodle-pop, and I loved adding this dimensional piece to my sampler! I finished off the clouds found on the sticker with a couple of Mini Jewels.
October 31 Block – The last square features the bold “October 31” circle layered on pink polka dot paper. The circle is from the Chit Chat, and the paper from the 6x6 Paper Pad. I added a crescent moon Icon Sticker, florals from the Bits and Pieces and star Sprinkles from the Halloween Night Sprinkles for sparkle. A strip of candy and flowers from a die cut in the Bits and Pieces along the bottom of the frame ties the entire sampler together perfectly.
Finishing Touches
The entire sampler is matted with the colorful Plaid It's Halloween 12x12 paper from the Hey Pumpkin collection, and then framed in black to really make those bright colors pop! Each little block tells its own mini Halloween story, making this piece the perfect handmade décor to display throughout October.
Thank you so much for stopping by today! I hope this project inspires you to create your own Halloween sampler using the Hey Pumpkin collection. It’s such a fun way to showcase your favorite Doodlebug icons and bring a pop of handmade happiness to your holiday décor!
Happy crafting and have a magical Halloween!
