Sunkissed Collection: Wonderful You Layout by Piali

Hello Doodlebug Fans!!

Piali here sharing a layout using the new SUNKISSED collection.
Love this collection...very colorful & happy one!!
I really wanted to use all the beautiful patterns of this collection for my layout so free hand cut some triangles and randomly placed it to create my background. Added some machine stitching for texture.

I also used Fancy Frills ,Washi tape and stickers from the collection.

Love the new Doodlebug Mini Doilies, I used the yellow one this layout.

Doodlebug Sprinkles are my most favorite embellishments, love the bit of glitter in them!

Hope you all like this layout!

Thanks for stopping by..
Happy Crafting!!

Sunkissed Cards & Layout by Mendi

Hi there!  I'm popping in today with some fun projects featuring the newest Sunkissed Collection by Doodlebug.  Don't the darling images and colors in this line ooze happiness?!  I can't help but smile when looking at it all!  I decided to create three projects to share using this happy collection, but honestly I wish I had enough time to play and make another dozen! Up first I have a layout with a focus on the new Skinny alphabet cardstock stickers and the Summer Treats Craft Kit.  I was immediately taken with how well they matched some photos I took of my daughter and her cousins last summer.  Even the grass paper was a perfect compliment!
I had fun using the Skinny Cardstock stickers in a rainbow of colors.  Unfortunately as I was working I realized the yellow "P" was blending into my background.  To remedy this I added a die-heart from the matching patterned paper and now it looks like something that was very intentional.  I love when that happens!  :)
I have a huge confession.  I love my Doodlepop stickers so much that I have a tendency to hoard them and I have a really hard time using them on my actual projects with the fear that I may want to use it on something else down the road.  I definitely struggled with that a bit on this page, but in the end I decided it was better to use it on my layout than on a card I might never see again.  LOL!  Tell me I'm not alone in my hoarding ways.  ;)
My next project was a super quick card using a create-a-card base and a 4x4 square cut from the Surf's Up patterned paper.  All I did was use a simple stitch around the square, a small strip of rainbow paper and some embellishing with a sentiment sticker and some sprinkles and jewels.  I love the big impact this has with so very little effort!
I hope you've enjoyed this look at the new collection.  It epitomizes everything I adore about Doodlebug!  :)

Sunkissed Collection: Paradise Layout by Kathy

Hi Everyone!  It's Kathy today with a layout featuring Doodlebug's BRAND NEW Sunkissed Collection!!  I fell in love with this collection the second I saw it!  It's perfect for summer & vacation projects.  It definitely made me long for warmer weather especially after a record breaking winter here in the Boston area!  Take a peek at my layout, this is the sunset over the Florida Keys... {sigh}

The Tangerine, Bumblebee and Raspberry colors perfectly complemented my picture, so I decided to showcase them all by creating some banners.

I'm longing to wear flip flops!!  These cuties were irresistible.  I embellished them with some Tangerine Glitter Sprinkles.

Finally, I die-cut a few fish using the Sunkissed papers and some matching Sprinkles Vellum.  To complete them I added some Beetle Sprinkles for eyes.  That is it for me today!  Make sure to stop by the blog all this week and next to see more Sunkissed inspiration from the Design Team!  Thanks for stopping by!

Hi Doodlebug friends!  It's me, Wendy Sue, and it's finally my turn to share an "inspired by" project!!  I had a hard time choosing one fabulous project to use for inspiration...so I decided not to!  Instead, I decided to use THREE projects to inspire my Spring card trio!

And Kathy's "Love" card:

Inspired my "happy bouquet" card:

And this one by the talented Shellye McDaniel:

Inspired my "You Are My Sunshine" card:

You see, my favorite thing about finding inspiration in my fellow crafter's projects, is taking the "bones" and switching up the theme, patterns, and embellishments to work for any theme!  Now it's YOUR turn!  Find a Doodlebug project to inspire your next crafty endeavor!! :)

Inspired by Challenge: Banner Wreath by Tya

Hi here Doodlebug fans! It's Tya - and I am up on the blog today with my take on this weeks Inspired by Challenge. I adore using my Doodlebug products to make cute home decor items for my home ,so when I was on the hunt for the perfect wreath for my door to celebrate spring I came across a lovely paper banner wreath designed by Mendi Yoshikawa and knew I found just what I was looking for! Here is Mendi's wreath:
 And here is my wreath:

I adored Mendi's use of all of the awesome pattern papers that come in each of the lines.  I used the fronts and backs of several of the pattern papers, from the Hello Sunshine line just as Mendi did.

Instead of the stars, I added some flowers from the Spring Flower Craft Kit. I also added some buttons and glitter sprinkles to the centers of the flowers. The darling little bee and butterfly are from the Icon Sticker sheet.

I also did a banner that I cut out from my Silhouette with the letters that spell Spring from the Hello Sunshine Icon Sticker Sheet. Add some twine and some cute little mini clothes pins to complete the banner.

So that's my project! Thanks Mendi for the inspiration! And be sure to stop by the Doodlebug Design Pinterest Boards to get some inspiration of your own! There are so many wonderful projects on there to get inspired by and make your very own! Thanks for stopping by!

Inspired by Challenge: Hey Cutie Layout by Stephanie Buice

Hey everyone Stephanie here today to share my Inspired by Layout,
for this assignment I chose to go with this layout created by Melinda Spinks found here:

Melinda and I have very similar design styles so it was an easy pick for me.
I love her layout and the colors she used, it's perfect!
Although I loved her color choices I chose to go with a little more neutral palette to fit my picture.

Here is my layout:

Some of the reasons I chose her layout were the clean simple design and I really liked how she did the circles drawing your eye from the top to bottom of the page. Such a great design.

Melinda added way more detail and embellishments to her layout which I also really liked, however I chose to keep mine a bit more simple to fit my style.
I think that even when using an inspiration layout or sketch it's important to always try to keep it as true to you as you can.
I added my journalling and title underneath of my pictures to keep the focus on them.

I always find that pulling out a sketch or other layout is an easy way to break me out of a scrap funk, it allows me to easy back into my creativity and get the ball rolling again. How do you solve your scrap blues? Do you use Pinterest for inspiration?
Thanks for stopping by, have a great day!
Stephanie.

Inspired by Challenge: Cousins Layout by Kathy

Hi Everyone!  It's Kathy, and today I have a fun project based on a layout created by Melinda Spinks.  The Doodlebug Design Team was challenged to find a project on the Doodlebug Pinterest Boards that inspired us, and to create a project based on that pin.  It was tough to narrow it down to just one project, but I found this beautiful layout by Melinda and knew this was the one!

What immediately caught my eye were Melinda's washi tape flowers...such a clever idea! Here is my version of her layout.....

To make the layout my own, I went more bold with the colors, using some fun papers from the new Hello Sunshine collection, and lots of bright Swiss Dot Washi tapes.

To create the flowers, I covered pieces of Lily White Cardstock with the different tapes.  I then ran them through my Big Shot using some thin metal dies to cut the flower shapes.

I finished the flowers with some washi centers, and a few Bright Glitter Sprinkles.  It was such a fun layout to put together!  I love how similar and different the two layouts turned out!  That's it for me today! Make sure to stop by the Doodlebug Blog for more "inspired by" projects this week...you won't be disappointed!

Inspired by Challenge: Mendi's Door Decor Project

Hello there!  It's Mendi here today with a Spring project inspired by the amazing Shellye McDaniel!  I was completely taken with her idea to cover an inexpensive wood monogrammed letter with washi tape!
Here's a peek of Shellye's amazing wreath that my design is based on (pinned HERE).  I fell in love with her idea immediately and for almost two years now I have been wanting to make one of my own.  I love how easily her design translates to any season depending on the washi tape used.  I chose to tie my letter to the back of the wreath using Doodle twine making it easy to switch out with the seasons.
I wanted to make some big bows to secure my banner in place, but truth be told, I'm not usually very good at making them.  I was tickled to discover a very easy tutorial (shared HERE) which helped me create them with very little effort.  For my smaller sized bows I used (36) 3" lengths of ribbon per bow which means you will need 3 yards of grosgrain and 3 yards of sheer ribbon to make two.
While I had my spring papers out, I created a coordinating chipboard banner using the darling papers and craft kit from the Easter Parade collection.
I kept it sweet and simple, but I can't help smiling when I see these adorable critters.  To connect the banner pieces together I created a loop with the same grosgrain ribbon, gluing them together in the back.  I then threaded a needle with some Doodle twine and sewed buttons onto the ribbon loops.
I hope I've inspired you to create some bright and cheerful projects for your home this Spring.  :)
