Blast from the Past - Valentine Cootie Catcher

Does anyone else remember making these cootie catchers at school?!? I remember how I thought they were the coolest thing. Courtney here with a blast from the past project. :)
It was funny because my husband was googling the instructions and he told me step one and I remembered the rest! Then I said the phrase "it's all coming back to me now" - and then I broke out into Celine Dion's "It's all coming back to me now"... wow. Aren't you glad you started reading this post!?! haha. It's stuck in your head now isn't it? Okay, moving on.

This is made from one sheet of 12x12 paper in the Sweethearts collection. I embellished with some pixies, stickers, alphas, a couple of papers from the 6x6 pad, more stickers, and a little twine.

I know, I know - you are supposed to put colors on the outside of it, but I thought this was more fun. :)

What is under the numbers you ask!?! It's for my husband... you don't get to know ;)

This would be a super fun little activity to do with your kids or a way to reward them for getting their chores done or homework done or something like that. You could put rewards/activities underneath the numbers! :)

I hope you enjoyed this post and have a beautiful day!

Sweetheart Layouts that will Melt Your Heart + GIVEAWAY

We have a special treat today with two unbelievably darling layouts from two of our talented design team members. Both Kathy and Melinda loved working with the new Sweethearts Collection and you will fall in LOVE with their layouts. And bonus...we have a giveaway too, so be sure to scroll down to see how you can enter.

Hi Everyone, it's Kathy with a fun layout I created using the Sweetheart Collection.  My husband is constantly saying that future generations will not know I existed by looking at my scrapbooks...so my resolution this year is to "be in the picture!!"  This is a selfie my husband and I took last spring on a trip to Key West to celebrate our 20th Anniversary.

I wanted to add some dimension to my layout so I die - cut some hearts from my background paper and backed the open spaces with various papers from the Sweetheart line.  I used some foam tape to give the hearts more depth.  I then added more hearts on the top layer and popped them up as well.
I LOVE the little typewriter, it's so cute!  It was actually the inspiration for my title. I added the little heart sticker with some foam tape for fun!
That's all for today, thanks for stopping by to look!

Big Love Layout
by Melinda Spinks
Hello, it's Melinda here to share a layout I've created using the gorgeous Sweetheart collection for a non Valentine's themed page! I've never really been one to side with convention when it comes to soft and 'pretty' colors on a boys layout, it just takes a bit of balance and the right style of photo.

I chose to really focus on the Kraft papers and embellishments of the collection and only use a hint of pink scattered across the layout. AND can you spy the new Sprinkles Vellum???

If I ever had to choose a favourite product (at the moment) it would have to be epoxy dots... I just can't seem to get enough of them and love how they can be sprinkled across a layout to give a hint of color and whimsy. Loving the new washi tape designs in the thinner widths too!

Now you don't need to wait until Valentine's Day to tell someone special you love them. Why not make a non-Valentine's card and surprise your loved one on a random day... just because!

Sweet Ornament Candy Jar by Amanda

Hi everyone!  Amanda from Popper & Mimi here with a too-cute-to-boot Valentine's Day treat.  Inspired by the gumball machine icon in the new Sweetheart collection, I decided to make a mini candy machine treat featuring some sweet Doodlebug goodies.

Who wouldn't love to wake up to one of these on Valentine's Day?  Put one of these together for your kids or give one to your sweetheart on Valentine's Day.  All that's required are a few die cuts and some candy that fits into the ornaments.

I embellished the base with coordinating patterned paper and made the spinner from some silver foil paper and a glittery brad.

I affixed a strip of narrow washi tape around the center of the ball and added a pretty little sticker.  I cut a narrow strip of patterned paper and wrapped it around the top of the ornament.

The ornament balances well on the top of the machine base, but the two pieces could be adhered together by applying adhesive to the tabs on the top of the base.

Stay warm!

Amanda

Sweethearts Banner by Shellye

Hello!  Shellye here to share a cute chipboard banner made with the "Sweetheart" Collection and a couple of fun layering dies.
First, I die-cut the heart shape from pieces of medium weight chipboard.  Next, I cut all of the base papers from the same patterned paper and then layered each with a coordinating pattern in a scalloped shape.
Each heart was embellished with various Doodlebug Design finds like Doodle Pops, Doodle Twine and cardstock stickers.
The Love Letters alphabet stickers are the perfect size to top the banner shaped stickers!
And what is a cupcake without a "sweet" Pixie added to the top?
After embellishing all of the panels, I applied Doodle Twine around the edge of the chipboard.  Next, I glued on some whimsical pom pom trim by May Arts Ribbon.
I used a crop-a-dile to punch holes at the sides and then added large rings to hold them together. To the ends, I strung through a loop of ribbon and then glued a bow onto the front.
Banners are a fun way to dress up a cabinet, above a doorway or across a shelf! Thank you visiting the Doodlebug Blog today!

by Sharm Nidyanandan

Hi there! I'm here to share with you a project I have made for my DT stint with Doodlebug Inc. The name for this release is so apt and sums it all up in one word - Sweetheart. It is serenely sweet and the pop of colours that Doodlebug is famous for makes this collection absolutely to die for! I kid you not.. :)

Without further adue, I'd like to share with you lovely crafters, a bottle label cum door hanger. This is made using a cut file from the Silhouette Store. I feel that using this as a door hanger is surely a sweet way to show someone how much they mean to you. Imagine walking towards your room and you see the lil hanger with the cute expressions! It also contains a little pouch round the front should you wish to put a longer letter in. Using it as a bottle label will also be super cute! Here's my project:

Love Snail Mail Sweet Set by Candace

Hey Doodlebug peeps!! I am super excited to share my Valentine's Day project with you today!

As soon as I saw the Sweethearts Collection I was so inspired by the little envelopes with notes inside. I decided I wanted to make a cute little mailbox and a matching shape card.

Of course my mailbox had to be filled with pretty chocolate!!

To add some small detail to my card I cut little pieces off a red Pixie and added them with a touch of quick drying adhesive.

I couldn't stop with the mailbox and the card - I had to Doodle-fy the chocolates as well! I used a fun candy wrap die as well as some of the awesome washi tape that matches this collection.

Even the Pixie "beads" look yummy enough to eat!!

Love Notes Valentines Cards by Courtney

Courtney from Court's Crafts here - I have never had so much fun with a Valentine's line! I have SO many more ideas for Sweethearts. I cannot wait to get back in my craft room and play with it some more! I saw these adorable Love Notes and was immediately in love. I thought about hoarding them for days and then I thought I should showcase them and send them to my girls. :) #LoveNoteIssues

Every year I send my bridesmaids valentines.  I am sure they will love these ones! Seven are for my bridesmaids and two are for Emmaline to give to her grandmas.

The background papers are all from the 6x6 paper pad. Aren't the designs scrumptious!?!

Here are some close-ups of the valentines.

This one has a washi tape background! :)

And here they are - my little army of valentines ready to be bring joy to some very special ladies!

I know if you saw the little love notes in person you would fall in love too!

Best part!?! You don't have to wait any longer! It is already shipping now! :)

A Sweet Valentines Countdown by Jodi

Hi Doodlebug Fans!  Jodi here today to share with you a fun but simple project that I created!  Doodlebug's new fun collection-Sweethearts! I fell in love with the Kraft Bags! Yep, as much as I loved them, I knew I wanted to embrace these sweet bags on my Valentine's Countdown. I started with a Blank Canvas that I have been meaning to use for some time. It was the perfect size to fit 5 bags across.

To start off, I cut the doilies in half and mod podged them around the border of the canvas. Next I used the washi tape in two designs on the outer edges of the canvas (and to cover up any imperfections)! I LOVE that Doodlebug has come out with a new smaller size! I am in love with the XOXOX tape! I then layered some punched out hearts on top of the white doilies to add some more color.

I then cut several rectangles to just give the Kraft Bags a bit of a border. I made sure to use my hot glue gun to adhere them to the canvas. Finally the fun part! Decorating each little bag! I layered each bag with Doodlebug goodies- from Doodle-pops to stickers to Pixie Sticks! The combinations were endless with such fun embellishments in this collection!

Lastly,  I decided to create some tags, which I cut out with Lily White Cardstock. I then added some washi tape at the top for some punch of color. On the tags will be little Love Notes for my kids and I might just slide some heart lollipops in there too!

Thanks for letting me share some "sweetness" with you today!
