Thanksgiving at the Beach
by Sherry Cartwright

Last year we diverted from our traditional Thanksgiving dinner and had one along the gulfshores of Texas. So fun and fantastic to have a change in pace.

Happy Harvest was the perfect color to showcase the photos from out time there. I set the smaller sized photos in a grid pattern, then added bits and pieces of goodness from the happy harvest collection ---- pixie, doodads, flowers, stickers and sprinkles.

A few details from this layout:
  • Cut title sticker in half to make it fit in space on layout.
  • Add family banner sticker from the this & that sticker sheet to a pixie, then tuck under photos to anchor to layout.
  • Use a new doodad as the flower center.
  • Add Doodlebug rub-ons to paper, sprinkles and doodads. Cute!

Adorable Fall Banner
by Tamara Tripodi

Today I have a ca-uuute fall mini banner to share showing off the new Happy Harvest collection! With all the amazing Doodlebug Design embellishments, it made decorating this banner a breeze. How cute will this be on a mantle or strung across a frame?

I used my Silhouette to die cut each pennant piece. I strung the pennants through some eyelets with brown Doodlebug twine. Those cute pom-pom flowers are also made with Doodlebug twine using a mini pom-pom maker (made by Clover. You can find them in the yarn section of your local craft store).

I really enjoyed making this and hope you LOVE it!

Pumpkin Door Hanging
by Shellye McDaniel

Back during the 'country decor' phase several years ago, I made a lot of stuffed paper wall hangings with brown kraft paper and paint. Since then, 12x12 papers have come on the scene and have made an old favorite even more fun to make!

I drew a pumpkin shape onto a scratch piece of 12x12 paper and then traced it onto two patterned papers (for a front and back).  Although I machine stitched (leaving about a 2" gap at the top for stuffing) around the perimeter of mine, you could also use a quick drying craft glue.  Stuff the top with cotton filler, paper shreds, tissue paper, etc.  You can find all sorts of patterns for various leaves and fruit shapes online or use a die-cutting machine or template. I gave the pumpkin a folk-artsy look by punching 1" circles and then adding them in a fun polka dot pattern.  Add a wire hanger and you have a cute little hanging to greet your autumn guests.

Scor-Pal Harvest Cookie Box
by Tya Smith

Fall has always been my favorite holiday! From getting to wear fuzzy slippers and over sized hoodies- to football and crunching leaves - this season just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside! Being a self proclaimed Foodie - I look forward to yummy soups and ciders and my favorite baked goods! I love pumpkin chocolate chip cookies - they just scream fall food to me, so I thought it would be fun to spread the fall love with this cute little box that can hold a few delicious baked goods.

I used my Scor-pal tool to make the box and followed this tutorial to make it. I added a layered pattern paper bow and some mini flowers with a bright red sprinkle in the middle. Add a "Grateful for You" sentiment and get ready to send it to that special someone who deserves a little treat.

Welcome to the Neighborhood
by Wendy Sue Anderson

I love the 'harvest homes' patterned paper and thought it would be perfect as a paper wrap for a loaf of yummy banana bread for our new neighbors.  I also used one of the 4x6 cards and a few little embellishments.  Even though it's not quite autumn, it has a nice homey feel and I'm excited to share it!

Be sure to check out my blog, I'll be posting the recipe to this yummy Banana Bread.

Tuesday Tutorial with Happy Harvest: Paper Cornucopias

by Amanda Coleman

These mini paper cornucopias would make a fun appetizer and/or place holder at your Thanksgiving table, or just make them to serve up a healthy snack.

All you need to make the cornucopias is some paper and adhesive.  Here is how to do it:

1. Cut a 11.5" circle into quarters.  Snip a narrow wedge off of one side near the top.  This makes it easier to roll the cone to a fine point.

2-3. Apply adhesive to the straight edge and roll into a cone shape.

4-5. Flatten the narrow half of the cone.  Curl the end around a wide marker.

6. Punch holes around the open end of the cornucopia, spacing them about 1/4" apart.

7. Thread ribbon around top of cornucopia using a simple back-stitch.

8. Line the cornucopia with a piece of food-safe paper (parchment, wax, etc.).

Embellish the cornucopia as desired and stuff with delicious veggies!  The basket weave print from Happy Harvest adds an authentic touch to the cornucopias.

These little cuties are bound to be a hit with kids or Thanksgiving guests.  The pixies straws make perfect flag holders!

Non-Halloween Themed Projects using Halloween Parade

By Melinda Spinks

Halloween is one of those magical holidays that my children would love to be part of, however it's not something we celebrate here in Australia. Also, living on a farm might pose a little difficult for Trick or Treating as it's a long walk from door to door. So I needed to think of a concept that I could use the Halloween Parade collection in a non Halloween way which led me to creating this fun little shadow box for my son's bedroom and a layout celebrating my daughter's new dragon 'onsie'... and not a pumpkin or candy corn in sight!

To create the circle I simply used a scoring tool and traced around a smaller bread and butter plate so that the scorer left a slight imprint in the cardstock. You could use a pencil but it might be difficult to erase the line afterwards.

The next step was the fun part... adding all the elements. I simply stuck everything down starting from the top and working my way down with the larger pieces and then filling all the smaller spaces with the new sprinkles, doodads, star jewels, sequins and mini pearls.

Okay so now that I'd used almost every embellishment Halloween Parade has to offer it was time to bust out the beautiful papers which were the perfect color scheme for my daughter's long awaited dragon onsie.

I created little triangles to form the background for the layout using all the gorgeous patterned papers and avoiding anything with Halloween themed objects.

Sadly I used up the last of the new Halloween Sprinkles but I couldn't resist as they are so darn addictive and they gave the layout that extra hint of fun.
